This proposal discusses the issues and dilemmas about the curriculum implementation in the EFL (English as a foreign language) education in China’s middle-schools and examines the nature of integrated contend-based (ICB) instruction by providing its rationale, definition, evolution, and delivery, and based on the above, it explores an excellent venue that the ICB could provide for Chinese student’s EFL learning and calls for the application of the curriculum of ICB into the EFL instruction in China’s secondary education.展开更多

In this...Students' academic motivation in a course is one of the most important factors to evaluate the success of the course. Measuring such a type of motivation has been proven to be complicated and open for debate. In this study, MUSIC Model of academic motivation developed by Jones (2009) was employed to conduct a survey on 214 third-year students of a police university after their Medical English course. Given five major components in the MUSIC Model derived from research and theory that are critical to student engagement in academic settings, including empowerment, usefulness, success, interest, and caring, the study reveals interesting results for considering the effectiveness of an ESP course. Some implications for instructors about how to engage students in a course have been also drawn out. It is believed to be practically helpful for those delivering ESP courses in non-English major universities in Vietnam.展开更多

Making full use of this method will bring great benefits for English teaching. Besides the unique advantages and the present situations of multimedia applied in English teaching, it is more important for us to find out its drawbacks in practical teaching process, such as the ineffective application of multimedia by teachers. Then, the related strategies mast be put forward improving the teaching facilities of multimedia. This paper mainly discusses the related strategies in order to create a better teaching environment and facilitate the training of teachers. After studying this paper, we will have a good knowledge of the multimedia teaching. Consequently, we can apply the multimedia into the traditional teaching. Multimedia resources are also very useful for teachers to meet the requirements in our modem society. Meanwhile, it will promote the teaching reform and improve the level of education in our country.展开更多
