Moreover, the propeller, host and mechanical equipment can also induce the harmonic responses. In order to reduce structural vibration, it is important to obtain the modal parameters information of a ship. However, the traditional modal parameter identification methods are not suitable since the excitation information is difficult to obtain. Natural excitation technique-eigensystem realization algorithm (NExT-ERA) is an operational modal identification method which abstracts modal parameters only from the response signals, and it is based on the assumption that the input to the structure is pure white noise. Hence, it is necessary to study the influence of harmonic excitations while applying the NExT-ERA method to a ship structure. The results of this research paper indicate the practical experiences under ambient excitation, ship model experiments were successfully done in the modal parameters identification only when the harmonic frequencies were not too close to the modal frequencies.展开更多

The goal of this research is to identify the main factors of human resources motivation in financial institutions (banks). The questionnaire will be used as a research instrument and consists of two parts. The first part of the questionnaire will focus on socio-demographic characteristics and the second part concentrates on the motivation variables of material and immaterial character. The paper discusses the evolution of the corporate governance best practice giving special reference to the new listing rules in Sri Lanka, Sri Lankan stock market overview and the importance of best practice governance for the developing economy of Sri Lanka. The findings show that BPM shortens the management chain and increases the con...This paper explores the value creation of business process management (BPM) and managerial accounting system (MAS) using a case study. The findings show that BPM shortens the management chain and increases the connections among functions in the organization by right reassignment. Accounting indicators in MAS provide necessary information about business processes, which assists performance evaluation in BPM, and meanwhile, incentive schemes give enough motives, which guide employees to take actions in accordance with the organizational strategies and processes' goals. The information effect and motive effect of MAS increase employees' work satisfaction and their cooperation with each other. In the end, the integration of BPM and MAS improves the organizational economic performance, thus creating value for the organization. The results explain the reason why so much BPM fails in practice, because right assignment, performance evaluation system, and incentive schemes constitute organizational architecture, which is critical to organizational value. Additionally, the value creation of BPM and MAS depends on their coordination with the external environment, the internal situation, and the organizational strategy. From the view of managerial accounting perspective, MAS not only changes with the organization development but also facilitates the organization development.展开更多

In the study, the collocation interval analysis method based on the first class Chebyshev polynomial approximation is presented to investigate the least favorable responses and the most favorable responses of interval-parameter structures under random excitations. Compared with the interval analysis method based on the first order Taylor expansion, in which only information including the function value and derivative at midpoint is used, the collocation interval analysis method is a non-gradient algorithm using several collocation points which improve the precision of results owing to better approximation of a response function. The pseudo excitation method is introduced to the solving procedure to transform the random problem into a deterministic problem. To validate the procedure, we present numerical results concerning a building under seismic ground motion and aerofoil under continuous atmosphere turbulence to show the effectiveness of the collocation interval analysis method.展开更多
For the stochastic structure with stochastic excitation, an advanced stratified line sampling (SLS) method is presented to obtain the cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the structural response and its sensitivi...For the stochastic structure with stochastic excitation, an advanced stratified line sampling (SLS) method is presented to obtain the cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the structural response and its sensitivity. The advanced stratified line sampling method introduces a set of middle failure subsets firstly. And for each subset, the conventional line sampling can be used to obtain the corresponding value of the response's CDF. At the same time, the sensitivity estimations of each failure subset can also be computed by modifying the important direction and corresponding reliability coefficients. The properties of CDF sensitivity are proved while the performance function is linear with normal random variables. After two simple examples are used to demonstrate the properties of CDF sensitivity and the feasibility of the presented method, the method employed to analyze the CDF and corresponding sensitivity of root bending moment (RBM) responses for the stochastic BAH is wing with gust excitation to a square-edged gust and to a Dryden gust. The results show that the parameters of the second and the fifth order modals exert more influence on the CDF of response than the other ones, and the presented SLS method can more significantly reduce the computational cost compared with Monte Carlo simulation (MCS).展开更多
