By employing numerical modeling, similar material simulation and comprehen-sive field observation, investigations were made and patterns were obtained governing surrounding-rock stress distribution and strata behaviors. It shows that patterns governing displacement of FMC roadway surrounding rocks and those governing deformation of supports are basically the same along the strike, but the displacements vary greatly. The front stresses affect greater areas than the lateral stresses and their limit widths of equilib-rium zones and K are almost similar. The stress transmits very deep. Our findings offer scientific basis on which to determine parameters for coal pillar retaining and for roadway out-laying, thus increasing the recovery ratio and improving the maintenance of roadway. 展开更多

The kinetics of isothermal reduction of Ag2O with graphite under argon atmosphere for a non-activated sample and mechanically activated sample was investigated.It is found that Johnson-Mehl-Avrami model appropriately explained the thermal and mechanochemical synthesis of Ag from Ag2O+ghraphite mixture.The process kinetics was investigated using the same approach for milled and unmilled samples.The results show that the Avrami exponent of mechanochemical reduction is higher than that of high temperature thermal reduction.Also,the mechanisms of nuclei growth in thermal and mechanochemical reduction are diffusion controlled and interface controlled,respectively. 展开更多

The non-isothermal kinetics of mechanochemical reduction of Ag2O with graphite was studied by DSC and TGA with a model of fitting Malek approach and a model-free advanced isoconversional method of Vyazovkin. To evaluate the kinetics parameters, Ag2O–graphite mixture of as-received and milled for 2 and 4 h samples were selected. Based on the results obtained by Vyazovkin method calculation, however, the difference between the maximum and minimum values of activation energy is less than 20%-30%of the average activation energy ((99.38±2.36) kJ/mol) and thermal decomposition of mechanically activated Ag2O for 2 h is a multi-step process. Moreover, the thermal decomposition of mechanically activated Ag2O–graphite powder activated for 4 h is a single-step process (the average activation energy=(93.68±2.26) kJ/mol). The kinetics modeling shows that the complexity of thermal decomposition of as-received Ag2O–graphite mixture is higher than that of the others. While, the autocatalytic tendency of as-received Ag2O–graphite mixture is lower than that of the others. 展开更多

In the paper, based on moment equilibrium condition of a mechanic system including V-belt and a two-gear-unit of the gearbox, models for optimum calculation of the partial ratios of the V-belt and the gearbox were proposed. This work aimed to study the inactivate kinetics of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) in artificial seawater by ultraviolet radi- ation, establish relationships between model parameters and growth phases, and explain the mechanization of UV disinfection by molecular biological detection. Investigations were carried out for the validation of Chick-Watson, Collins-Selleck, Horn and Biphasic models when S. aureus was in stationary phase (t=14 h). The results showed that the Biphasic kinetic model's R2 turned out to be the highest one (R2=0.9892) and RMSE was less than 0.5 (RMSE =0.2699). The Biphasic kinetic model was better fit for ultraviolet disinfection than the other three models under the circumstance of this experiment and chosen to fit the ultraviolet disinfection curves for microorganisms at three growth phases. The sensitivity of microorganisms under ultraviolet radiation was in the following order: in exponential phase 〉 in stationary phase 〉 in lag phase by comparing the indexes of the Biphasic model (kl and x). Besides, agarose gel electrophoresis was used in order to directly assess the damage to DNA of mi- croorganisms that were exposed to the different dose of UV irradiation. The results revealed that DNA damage caused by UV radiation was an important reason for the microorganism inactivation and as the UV dose increased, there was greater damage caused in DNA. 展开更多
