Total OCP concentrations in the Issyk-Kul region ranged from 4.63 to 414 ng/g dw, of which two extraordinary high OCP concentrations(414 ng/g dw and 213 ng/g dw, respectively) influenced by an abandoned dumping site and urban sewage, respectively, were found. Principal component analysis(PCA) and correlation analysis inferred that the OCP inputs in the east of the Issyk-Kul region were mainly from local endogenous sources, and exogenous input via LRAT processes were prominent in the west and south. Additionally, the isomeric and parent substance/metabolite ratios revealed most pesticides accumulated in this region were from old usage, while DDTs had fresh input because of possibly illegal regional application and a slow degradation from the dumping site. Furthermore, ecological risk assessment revealed that no frequently adverse ecological effects were observed in the Issyk-Kul region, but potential risks on neighbouring organisms induced by p,p'-DDT and γ-HCH in dumping site and urban sewage should be considered when devising an efficient management plan to prevent secondary pollution.展开更多

Some morphological and confirmation tests were achieved. The sensitivity tests had been accomplished by diffusion and dilution techniques to determine the response of isolate against the antibiotics. The results of diffusion tests showed to the sensitivity of bacteria to antibiotics of cefixime, erythromycin, gentamicin and tetracycline respectively. It was resistant to trimethoprim sulfonamide (TMP), bacitracin, penicillin and all its generations, and moderate resistance to nalidixic acid. Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) for amoxicillin was ranged between 30-40 pg/mL and these results are an approximation of the universal findings. Curing experiments showed the effective role of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) (1.5%) comparing with temperature. The bacterial cells became sensitive to amoxicillin and TMP. The curing by temperature did not differ significantly from control treatment in plasmid pattern or antibiotics response. Plasmid profile referring that curing by SDS has been caused disturbance in beta -lactamase genes through the sensitivity to amoxicillin and remaining resistance to ampicillin. Curing isolate by SDS also became more sensitive to nalidixic acid, erythromycin and tetracycline respectively. It was found from the curing treatments the complexity distribution of r-genes between different plasmid size and chromosome but not effect on their insecticidal ability.展开更多

The essential oil of Pseudoeytisus integrifolius was tested at different doses on adults of Rhyzopertha dominica Fab. (Bostrychidae) and Sitophilus granarius Linn. (Curculionidae), at a temperature of 28 ~C and a relative humidity of 75%. This oil has insecticidal activity and gives, for the studied adults, a very significant reduction. The essential oil extracted from Pseudocytisus integrifolius is toxic on Rhyzopertha dominica with LDs0 = 2.61 ~tL/30g grain and LDs0 = 3.99 ~L/30g grain for Sitophilus granarius, the chemical composition analysis shows the richness of the essential oil compounds known for their insecticidal properties as dimethyl disulfide (DMDS) and dimethyl trisulfide explains the results.展开更多

Based on Cost/Benefit analysis result, the resistant genotype (SAKHA 9433) provides maximum economic value of production at the model point where no spray of insecticide is applied. The applications of one or two sprays do not justify the use of chemical insecticide but rather result in economic loss since the reduction in borer damage value, due to diazinon use, is lower than the cost of control (spray). However, the applications of one spray for the moderate resistant genotype (IPA 2052) and two sprays for the sensitive genotype (CML 323) during corn growing season would be of value to cover the cost of control (spray) but do not achieve similar economic value of revenue comparing with the resistant genotype.展开更多

These processes can be used in many types of separation, with some advantages over the usual separation processes. NF (nanofiltration) is a membrane separation technique, which has properties intermediate between reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration in terms of separated species, because the average of the pores is in the range of 1/2 to 10 nm, and the separation occurs in function of load and size of the species. Usually removes species in solution with an effective diameter of about 1 nm or larger and multivalent ions to a greater extent than monovalent ions. The objective was to study the formation of biofouling on the surface of commercial nanofiltration membrane (Osmonics/GE) and surface membrane synthesized in our laboratory. The study was conducted in permeation system with filtration cell with tangential displacement of 15 bar for 8 days flow. DBNPA (2,2-dibromo-3-nitrilopropionamide) was used as a biocide agent, and an anti-fouling, in concentrations of 5 and 300 ppm, respectively, added to the water coming from the Beach Sea Galleon, RJ. The results demonstrated that there was no change in the flow and rejection of sulphate ions, even in the presence of anti-fouling. The count of aerobic, anaerobic and BRS (sulfate reducing bacteria) in seawater before and after using the DBNPA showed efficiency in controlling these groups of microorganisms and biofouling microbial consortium consisting of the existing in seawater.展开更多
