A new type of high-power broadband superfluorescent source of Yb3+-doped double-cladding photonic crystal fiber is reported experimentally, which is pumped at 976 nm by a high-power laser diode with the end-coupling method. We have obtained a smooth broadband output of superfluorescence. The maximum output power is 1.649 W with a slope efficiency of 56.7%. The 3 dB bandwidth is 22.4 nm.To the best of our knowledge,this is the first report about SFS with such high output power of 1.649 W. 展开更多

Two biological nutrient removal (BNR) wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) in Thailand were selected for study: the Nonghkaem WWTP and the Suvarnabhumi Airport WWTP. For each site the influents, effluents, and supernatant liquids from anaerobic sludge digesters were analyzed for total Kjeldahl nitrogen (TKN), total nitrogen (TN), total chemical oxygen demand (TCOD), biodegradable chemical oxygen demand (bCOD), and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD). Nitrogen removal efficiencies in the Nonghkaem WWTP and the Suvarnabhumi Airport WWTP were evaluated. Inadequate nitrogen removal at the Nonghkaem centralized WWTP was found during the summer period. Influent ratios of bCOD:N at the Nonghkaem plant and the Suvarnabhumi Airport plant were 2.42:1-5.45:1 and 4.1:1-6.5:1, respectively. The efficacy of addition of molasses as a carbon source for enriched denitrifying culture in a BNR process at Nonghkaem was studied. Fluorescent in situ hybridization technique (FISH) was used to identify specific nitrifying bacteria (Nitrosomonas spp., Nitrobacter spp. and Nitrospira spp.). Nitrospira spp. was the most prevalent species in the aeration tank at the Nonghkaem WWTP. This result from FISH suggests that there were significantly low oxygen and nitrite concentration in the aeration tank at the Nonghkaem WWTP during a period of low nitrogen removal. 展开更多

The global demand for resource sustainability is growing. Thus, the development of single-source, environment-friendly colloidal semiconductor nanocrystal (NC) phosphors with broadband emission spectra is highly desirable for use as color converters in white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs). We report herein the gram-scale synthesis of single-source, cadmium-free, dual-emissive Mn-doped Zn-Cu-In-S NCs (d-dots) by a simple, non-injection, low-cost, one-pot approach. This synthesis method led to the formation of NCs with continuously varying compositions in a radial direction because each precursor had a different reactivity. Consequently, the d-dots exhibited two emission bands, one that could be attributed to Mn emission and a second that could be ascribed to the band edge of the Zn-Cu-In-S NCs. The emission peaks assigned to band edge were tunable by modifying the particle size and composition. The prepared d-dots also exhibited the characteristic zero self-absorption, a quantum yield of 46%, and good thermal stability. Combining a commercial blue light-emitting diode (LED) chip with optimized d-dots as color converters gave a high color rendering index of up to 90, Commission Internationale de l'eclairage color coordinates of (0.332, 0.321), and a correlated color temperature of 5,680 K. These results suggest that cadmium-free, thermally stable, single-phase d-dot phosphors have potential applications in WLEDs. 展开更多

In this paper,we propose a method to realize microwave photonic filter(MPF) with complex coefficient,whose central frequency f 0 and 3 dB bandwidth are tunable.The complex coefficient is realized by multi-wavelength optical source and stimulated Brillouin scattering(SBS).The central frequency of the filter is tuned by adjusting the phase shift caused by SBS without changing its frequency response.The frequency selectivity of filter can be improved through increasing the bandwidth of broadband optical source(BOS) or decreasing wavelength separation to increase the taps of MPF.The mainlobeto-sidelobe suppression ratio(MSSR) of the filter is affected by the weight of each tap.When the length of fiber is 0.5544 m in birefringence fiber loop mirror(FLM),the MSSR is improved by 18.55 dB compared with that without the weight controlling. 展开更多
