[Method] DNA fingerprint of 100 pepper hybrids was analyzed using 17 SSR primers. [Result] According to the polymorphism and heterozygosity, Hpms1-214, Es395 and Hpmsl-5 were determined as three preferred core primers for purity identification of pepper hybrids. By using these three preferred core primers, 97 pepper hybrids (accounting for 97%) had heterozygous band pattern with at least one primer. Es330, Es363, Epms923, Es120 and Es64 were determined as candidate core primers for purity identification of pepper hybrids. Specific primers of 14 varieties were obtained, which could be used to further screen parent-complementary primers of each pepper hybrid. [Con- clusion] This study laid the foundation for constructing standard DNA fingerprints for purity identification of pepper hybrids.展开更多

To find out the reasons, the four hybrid combinations were grown in field to identify their purity according to their phenotypic traits. Then, the results of field identification were compared with that of laboratory tests using different SSR primers. The comparison revealed that only sterile lines (female parent) were distin- guished from true hybrids using the primers RM208, RM264, RM242 and RM164 for the purity identification of Gangyou 158, II You 808, Wuyou 308 and Tianfengyou 316, so the results were higher than that of field identification. In contrast, the primers RM341, RM297, RM21 and RM110 were able to distinguish not only the sterile plants but also the cross-pollinated ones from the true hybrids of Gangyou 158,Ⅱ You 808, Wuyou 308 and Tianfengyou 316, and the results of purity identifi- cation using them were close that of field identification, in summary, several pairs of primers should be used for the purity identification of rice hybrids to distinguish all the off-type plants and thus improve the accuracy.展开更多

The algorithm uses affinity graph to group datasets while keeping a polynomial time complexity. By integrating the algorithm, the workflow engine can intelligently select locations in which the data will reside to avoid the unnecessary data transfer during the initial stage and runtime stage. Fourteen patient...In this paper the results of skeletal traction and irrigation therapy (STIT) used for open fracture complicated with large-sized full-thickness skin-deficit and infection wounds (OFIW) were presented. Fourteen patients of OFIW were treated by the plaster cast and wound dressing (PCWD), and 30 patients of OFIW were treated by STIT. The results indicated that after one week of treatment, the white blood cell count in the STIT group, compared to 17. 6±l. 0×109/L from before treatment, returned to 8. 8±0. 8×109/L,and in contrast, the cell count of the PCWD group was about 13. 0±1. 4×109/L. All of wound exudate culture in the STIT group was negative, and those of 7 cases (7/14) in PCWD group were positive (P<0. 0l). The symptoms and signs such as pain, fever and septic exudate on the wound in the STIT group were much milder than those in the PCWD group. There were 5 cases (35. 7%) of toxicemia and septicemia, 2 cases (14. 3%) of osteomyelitis, 2 cases (14. 3 %) of amputation, 1 case (7. 1%) of delayed union and 3 cases (21. 4 %) of malunion in the PCWD group, and no complications in the STIT group.展开更多

This involved the determination of complex stress functions required to compute stresses in terms of a set of unknown coefficients for the specified displacement expressions satisfying the prescribed boundary conditions. The assumed Coulomb friction between the plate and the pin was used to provide the solution and iteration was also used to determine the extent of contact region. The results from present study showed good agreement with the available results in literature for all the joint configurations evaluated.展开更多

It is generally accepted that a ...The aim of this paper is to explore the major issues involved in introducing sustainability concepts into university curricula in an interdisciplinary manner, through Systems Thinking. It is generally accepted that a holistic approach is essential in sustainability studies, but teaching such a new and complex topic to a diverse student population is by no means easy. In this study, sustainability is viewed in the context of Systems Thinking, particularly in Complexity Management domain. A general framework is proposed with the intension of guiding potential instructors who are planning to teach sustainability through Systems Thinking. The framework includes only the suggested systems-oriented material and a review of some system methodologies; it does not cover sustainability issues. Methodologies known as System Dynamics and Soft Cybernetics are explored and emphasized particularly in the paper due to their importance. The framework is kept general enough so that it appeals to students and instructors with a variety of background.展开更多
