The forming regularity and the relationship between the composition and the property of B2O3BaOZnO glass were investigated. The results show that the composition range for forming B2O3BaOZnO glass is very wide, but the content of B2O3 has a limit within mole fraction of 25%75%. When the content of B2O3 is over the limit, the melt will be divided into two phases with different compositions and structures, whereas too low content of B2O3 will result in the crystallization of the melt during the cooling process. The thermal expansion coefficient, the transition temperature and the resistivity of the glass at room temperature are (510)×10 -6℃ -1, 480620℃ and (1.53.0)×10 10Ω·m, respectively.展开更多

[ Method] The extraction conditions for Auricularia auricular polysaccharides were optimized by orthogonal test, and its physiochemical characteristics and antagonistic activities on bacteria and molds were tested. I-Result] The optimized condition was with sample to liquid ratio of 1 : 50, temperature of 90 ℃ and extraction time of 2.5 h. Under the optimized condition, the yield of pelysaccharide was 7.3%, with polysaccharide content of 77.81%. Containing aldose and amylase, the polysaccharides of Auncu/aria auricular was soluble in water. The inhibitory effect on bacteria was significantly stronger than on molds that the minimum diameter of inhibition zone for bacteria is 12.7 mm, while 7.9 mm for the molds. X-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and charge-discharge test were applied to the characterization of the LiFePO4/C samples synthesized under different conditions. Sintering temperature affects the crystallite/ particle size and degree ofcrystallinity of LiFePO4, formation of Fe2P and maintenance of carbon in LiFePO4/C. Car- bon maintenance is favored by low sintering temperature, and 700 ℃ is optimum for synthesis of LiFePO4/C with superior electrochemical performance. A higher carbon content in the range of 4.48%-11.03% results in a better rate capability for LiFePO4/C. The dispersive agent used in ball-milling impacts the existent state of carbon in the final product which subsequently determines its charge-discharge behavior. The sample prepared at 700 ℃ by using acetone as the dispersive agent in ball-milling exhibits an excellent rate capability and capacity retention without any fade at 0.1 C, 1C and 2C, with corresponding average discharge capacities of 153.8, 128.3 and 121.0 mA·h·g-1. rest2ectivelv, in the first 50 cvcles.展开更多

A set of admissible orthogonal polynomials are generated with Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization procedure and adopted in the Rayleigh-Ritz method. Accuracy and applicability of the method are examined by comparison of the results for different boundary conditions and material types with those available in literature. It is found that this method has good accuracy regardless of type of boundary condition and yields very accurate results even with low number of terms of orthogonal polynomials for the first mode of vibration. For higher modes of vibration, higher terms of orthogonal polynomials should be used. The effects of foundation parameter, density and non-homogeneity parameters on natural frequency are examined. It is concluded that natural frequency of plates are more sensitive to shearing layer coefficient rather than Winkler coefficient and density parameter has weakening effect on natural frequency.展开更多

The obtained functional materials were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), FT-1R (Fourier transform infrared) spectroscopy, DRUV-VIS (diffuse reflectance ultraviolet-visible) spectroscopy, BET (Brunauer-Emmett-Teller) and SEM/EDX (scanning electron microscope/energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer) analyses. The XRD results indicated that the clinoptilolite structure has a good thermal stabilization after the fast-hydrothermal treatment. Also, the high specific surface area about 92.55 m^2.g^-1 was noticed for Ag-TiO2-zeolite functional material. The presence of dopants was evidenced from EDX spectra. The enhanced bactericidal activity of Ag-TiO2-zeolite catalyst is proved through damaging of Enterococcusfaecalis colonies under visible irradiation, at different material doses and irradiation times.展开更多

The type of foundation used is highly dependent on the type and properties of soil. The design of foundations requires many factors that should be defined. There are number of differences in the geological and soil conditions in Iraq. As a consequence, these differences are reflected on the type of foundation to be used. Despite these differences, same materials and style of buildings are used all over Iraq. The main problems of Iraqi soil are high gypsum content, salinity and shallow water table depth. These factors that influence the foundations are the soil properties and the amount of loads that transmitted by the superstructure. The situation has been analysed through a case study which illustrated the link between soil and foundation types in three different parts of Iraq (Mosul, Baghdad and Basra). One building was analysed using "STAAD (structural analysis and design). Pro" software in these regions. It is evident that Iraqi designers and engineers require local code to define all the loads, materials and design of the foundation to be used. The use of local materials might be very effective from both engineering and economic perspectives.展开更多

The measurement results of XRD and TEM indicate that the crystallization of the nano-scale nickel hydroxide isβ-style and its shape is spherical with a diameter of 40~70 nanometer. The adulteration experiment shows that the adulteration ratio of nano- scale Ni(OH) 2 in common spherical micrometer-scale Ni(OH) 2 exists a optimal value (1∶9). And at this point, the utilization ratio of Ni(OH) 2 in electrodes can be raised by 10%, and the nano-scale nickel hydroxide with sphericity shape shows a better adulteration performance than that with needle shape.展开更多

The nitration of iso-octanol with HNO3-H2SO4 mixed acid was chosen as a typical model reaction which involved fast and strong exothermic liquid-liquid heterogeneous reaction process. The influences of mixed acid composition, flow rate, organic/aqueous flow ratio and reaction temperature have been investigated. The results indicated that the reaction could be con-ducted safely and stably in the microreactor at 25-40°C, which are enhanced compared to 15°C or below for safe operating conditions in the conventional reactors. Moreover, the 98.2% conversion of iso-octanol could be obtained and no by-products were detected in all cases.展开更多

In the current work, the agro-waste residue avo- cado peel is proposed to be used as alternative to conventional activated carbons whose use is sometimes restricted to high costs, upgraded by their exhausting after long term operations. The carbonization procedure was optimized and analyzed through factorial design and response surface methodology by evaluating temper- ature (400-900 ℃) and time (30-90 min) effects: optimal conditions were found at 900℃ and 65 min, gener- ating an adsorbent with 87.52 m2.g 1 of BET surface area, a mesopore volume of 74% and a zero point charge at 8.6. The feasibility of the carbonaceous material was proved for the removal of a variety of dyes by investigating substrate (10-50 mg.L 1) and solid (0.5-20 g.L-1) concentration effects and statistical significance: complete removal of Naphthol Blue Black and Reactive Black 5 was reached under optimal conditions (10 mg.L 1 and 20g.L 1 of dye and solid, respectively), while Basic Blue 41 was eliminated by using 13.4 g.
