The impact of the subtropical high (STH) on precipitation was investigated on a daily timescale using matched NCEP and the Global Precipitation Climatology Project (GPCP) datasets.Comparison of the conditional probabi...The impact of the subtropical high (STH) on precipitation was investigated on a daily timescale using matched NCEP and the Global Precipitation Climatology Project (GPCP) datasets.Comparison of the conditional probability (intensity) of precipitation under STH condi-tions with that under non-STH conditions suggests that the presence of the STH conditions has a limited impact on local precipitation.In the West Pacific Subtropical High (WPSH) and the North Atlantic Subtropical High (NASH),precipitation was only 30% lower under STH conditions than under non-STH conditions.The STH conditions had somewhat more impact on precipitation intensity,but it was still 50% less than the intensity under non-STH conditions (mean of roughly 5 mm d 1).Pre-cipitation under STH conditions was found to be highly correlated with vertical motion.Active updrafts occurring even under STH conditions are essential for frequent oc-currences and moderate intensities of precipitation.展开更多

Rule is one of the most important methods to represent knowledge in AI. The appearance of uncertain reasoning urges us to measure the belief of rule. Now,most of uncertain reasoning models represent the belief of rule by conditional probability. However,it has many limitations when standard conditional probability is used to measure the belief of expert system rule. In this paper,AI rule is modelled by conditional event and the belief of rule is measured by conditional event probability,then we use random conditional event to construct a new evidence updating method. It can overcome the drawback of the existed methods that the forms of focal sets influence updating result. Some examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.展开更多

This technology was first developed as the second half of the twentieth century and quickly achieved acceptance in both industry and commerce. In this paper studies are discussed on the design, development and printing of one-dimensional barcodes of the symbologies Code 39 and Interleaved 2 of 5. There are also discussed techniques for recovering the information encoded in the bar code, which can be extended to other symbologies. The purpose of the paper is the development of an open solution with the objective to make the decoding of barcodes using computer vision techniques possible, which will be divided into four basic stages: acquisition, pre-processing, processing and presentation of results. Practical tests conducted with samples show satisfactory results, validating the operating principles of the elements involved. The proposed objective was achieved and practical tests validated the operating principles of the elements addressed by providing contribution to that segment decoding barcodes.展开更多

The isomerization of alkyl naphthalene was catalyzed by acid-treated HBEA zeolites, and the 2-MN selectivity of isomerization was 92.70%. Side-stream distillation and extractive distillation were investigated by simulation, and effects of operation parameters on 2-MN were studied. Further, the simulated results were verified by experiment. Under the optimal condition, the mass fraction of 2-MN reached to 98.09%; in the oroduct, and the yield was 83.84% in refining orocess.展开更多

To e...The SMART (System-integrated Modular Advanced ReacTor) which is a 330 MWt advanced integral PWR was developed by the KAERI (Korea Atomic Energy Institute) for electricity generation and seawater desalination. To enhance its safety, the various design concepts were adopted such as the most containing of the RCS (reactor coolant system) components and a PRHRS (passive residual heat removal system). To ensure the safety and performance of the SMART, a thermal hydraulic evaluation and safety analysis are performed by the TASS/SMR-S code. It uses a one dimensional node/path modeling and point kinetics for the core power simulation. The code also has specific models reflecting the design features of the SMART such as a helical tube and PRHRS heat transfer models. In this study, the validation of the core heat transfer model in the TASS/SMR-S code on the steady conditions was performed with the Bennett's heated tube tests and THTF (thermal hydraulic test facility) experiment. From the results of the TASS/SMR-S code calculation, the CHF (critical heat flux) point and the fuel rod surface temperature were predicted conservatively compared to the test results.展开更多

Through empirical analysis, this paper finds that China, while sharing the benefits of globalization, showcases the lock-in effect regarding its status in the international labor division chain. The analysis finds that in its participation in globalization, the net barter terms of trade ~BTT) and factorial terms of trade for China are deteriorating, and the income terms of trade are seriously overvalued, resulting in a series of contradictions, such as scanty returns for enterprises, slow income growth, increasing trade frictions, and intensified environmental and resource pressures. The paper analyzes rapidly changing factors in China's comparative advantages and characteristics of the changes in industries where China possesses comparative advantages. According to changes in different types of industries at different stages, this paper puts forward suggestions on direction and policies for cultivating dynamic comparative advantages.展开更多
Covalent modification of bovine testicular hyaluronidase with chondroitin sulphate led to changes in the pattern of glycation of native and modified enzyme in its reaction with neutral saccharides and N-acetylhexosami...Covalent modification of bovine testicular hyaluronidase with chondroitin sulphate led to changes in the pattern of glycation of native and modified enzyme in its reaction with neutral saccharides and N-acetylhexosamines. Thus, mono- and di-saccharides inactivated the native hyaluronidase to a greater extent than the chondroitin sulfate-modified enzyme. N-acetylhexosamine, on the opposite, inactivated the modified hyaluronidase to a greater extent than the native one. These properties made it possible to use native and modified hyaluronidase as an informative research system for in vivo measurement of the predominant type of saccharide agents in the circulation. The proposed approach was experimentally substantiated by obtained results of the study on these interactions of hyaluronidase derivatives with hyaluronan fragments and their mixture. In a model of post-ischemic perfusion of the rat limb, the effect of hyaluronidase derivatives and their components on restoration of the microcirculation were tracked using laser Doppler flowmetry. Native hyaluronidase accelerated the restoration of initial level of microcirculation, but modified enzyme was markedly inhibited by glycocalyx degradation products. N-acetylhexosamine was positioned at the reducing terminal of these products as a natural label for these glycocalyx fragments. These and other data obtained under various experimental conditions supported the participation of endothelial glycocalyx in microcirculation disturbances.展开更多

The Soil and Water Assessment Tool(SWAT) has been widely used throughout the world to model crop growth and nutrient uptake in various types of soils.A greenhouse experiment was performed to validate the process equat...The Soil and Water Assessment Tool(SWAT) has been widely used throughout the world to model crop growth and nutrient uptake in various types of soils.A greenhouse experiment was performed to validate the process equations embedded in SWAT for describing the growth and nutrient uptake of tomatoes in south Florida.The scaled growth curve of greenhouse-grown tomatoes was in close agreement with the theoretical model for field conditions,with the scaling factors being the maximum canopy height and the potential heat units.Similarly,the scaled leaf area index(LAI) growth curve and the scaled root depth curve for greenhousegrown tomatoes agreed with the SWAT functions,with the scaling factors being the maximum LAI and maximum root depth.The greenhouse experiment confirmed that the growth of biomass is a linear function of the intercepted photosynthetically active radiation.The fractions of nutrients in the plant biomass under greenhouse conditions were found to be on the order of 60% of those fractions observed in the field.Values of the initial P distribution(0.2 mg kg -1),initial ratio of mineral stable P to mineral active P(50:1),and initial ratio of humic N to humic P(2.4:1) were determined from soil measurements and can be used for field simulations.The conventional saturation-excess model for soil-water percolation was used to predict the movement of water in the top 10 cm of the greenhouse containers and the results agreed well with measurements.展开更多

Using active control approach, the suitable controller is constructed to make the states of two different diverse time delayed systems asymptotically synchronize up to the desired scaling factor. Based on the Lyapunov stability theory, the sufficient condition for the projective synchronization is calculated theoretically. Numerical simulations of the projective synchronization between Maekey-Glass system and Ikeda system with variable time delays are shown to validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.展开更多
