In this paper a new method is proposed to predict the buckling loads of the laminated strips with a surface notch. The theoretical and experimental results show that the buckling loads decrease as the depth or width of the surface notches increase; when the stacking sequence of the laminated strips is [0°/0°/+ θ/-θ/0°/0°/+θ/-θ] s , the buckling load decrease as θ increases. It proves that the method is reliable and significant.展开更多

TPS forces the corresponding landmarks to exactly match each other and minimizes the bending energy of the whole image. However, in real application, such scheme would deform the image globally when deformation is only local. CSRBF needs manually determine the support size, although its deformation is limited local. Therefore, to limit the effect of the deformation, new Compact Support Thin Plate Spline algorithm (CSTPS) is approached, analyzed and applied. Such new approach gains optimal mutual information, which shows its registration result satisfactory. The experiments also show it can apply in both local and global elastic registration.展开更多

(Td22), inhibitory to Sclerotinia minor Jagger, to grow and survive in mature wood fibre waste (WFW) compost of paper mill origin following nutrient amendment. The growth and survival of the fungus in the WFW compost was assessed by serial dilution plate count method followed by confirmation of the fungal identity using pectic enzyme analysis as described in Cruickshank and Pitt [1]. It was found in this study that the population densities of TdE2 achieved under non-sterile conditions in the WFW compost following nutrient amendment was approximately in the range of 7.0 lOgl0 CFU/g dw - 8.5 log10 CFU/g dw after 28 days, depending on pre-treatment. The efficacy of this WFW compost-grown TdE2 for protection of lettuce from attack by S. minor was also demonstrated in glasshouse trials. This study indicates that cellulosic paper mill waste compost could provide an abundant low-cost growth medium for the large-scale cultivation of fungal antagonists, improving prospects for cost-competitiveness with chemical treatments.展开更多

The considered reasons for the solutions were to exactly satisfy the boundary conditions and to verify as close as possible the differential equation of the plate. There are studied two solutions for orthotropic plate with clamped edges, and made comparisons with the solutions presented by Reddy [1] and with the exact solution by Timoshenko and Woinowsky. The models are based on the CLPT (classical laminated plate theory). The Ritz method, in conjunction with the weighted residue method for the coefficients calculation, is used to analytically determine the bending solutions of orthotropic laminated plates subjected to uniform pressure on the bottom laminate. The purposed solutions were critically analysed considering a FEM (finite element method) solution for comparison. Finally, it is presented the experimental device and the experimental test results, as well. Fabrics have been incorporated into two composite plates were required scalps on one direction, thus ensuring different elasticity modules on both directions. Thorough comparison between analytical solutions, numerical results and experimental data is performed and a good agreement is obtained.展开更多

The wavelet-based B-spline wavelet on he interval (BSWI) element is constructed according to Hamilton’s principle, and the element by element algorithm is parallelly executed on graphics processing unit (GPU) using compute unified device architecture (CUDA) to get the responses in full wave field accurately. By means of the Fourier spectral analysis method, the Mindlin plate theory is selected for wave modeling of laminated composite plates while the Kirchhoff plate theory predicts unreasonably phase and group velocities. Numerical examples involving wave propagation in laminated composite plates without and with crack are performed and discussed in detail. The parallel implementation on GPU is accelerated 146 times comparing with the same wave motion problem executed on central processing unit (CPU). The validity and accuracy of the proposed parallel implementation are also demonstrated by comparing with conventional finite element method (FEM) and the computation time has been reduced from hours to minutes. The damage size and location have been successfully determined according to wave propagation results based on delay-and-sum (DAS). The results show that the proposed parallel implementation of wavelet finite element method (WFEM) is very appropriate and efficient for wave-based SHM in laminated composite plates.展开更多
