A text to speech (TTS) interface for UDL portal would enable access to the digital content in voice mode, and also provide access to the digital content for illiterate and vision-impaired people. Our work focuses on design and implementation of text to speech interface for UDL portal primarily for Indian languages. This paper is aimed at identifying the issues involved in integrating text to speech system into UDL portal and describes the development process of Hindi, Telugu and Tamil voices under Festvox framework using unit selection techniques. We demonstrate the quality of the Tamil and Telugu voices and lay out the plan for integrating the TTS into the UDL portal.展开更多

There are, however, many features of the distributed softw...Software architectures shift the focus of developers from lines-of-code to coarser-grained architectural elements and their overall interconnection structure. There are, however, many features of the distributed software that make the developing methods of distributed software quite different from the traditional ways. Furthermore, the traditional centralized ways with fixed interfaces cannot adapt to the flexible requirements of distributed software. In this paper, the attributed grammar (AG) is extended to refine the characters of distributed software, and a distributed software architecture description language (DSADL) based on attributed grammar is introduced, and then a model of integrated environment for software architecture design is proposed. It can be demonstrated by the practice that DSADL can help the programmers to analyze and design distributed software effectively, so the efficiency of the development can be improved greatly.展开更多

This vertically self‐pillared(VSP)structure extends the application range of traditional porous materials with facile mass/ion transport and enhanced reaction kinetics.Here,we prepare a single crystal metal‐organic ...This vertically self‐pillared(VSP)structure extends the application range of traditional porous materials with facile mass/ion transport and enhanced reaction kinetics.Here,we prepare a single crystal metal‐organic framework(MOF),employing the ZIF‐67 structure as a proof of concept,which is constructed by vertically self‐pillared nanosheets(VSP‐MOF).We further converted VSP‐MOF into VSP‐cobalt sulfide(VSP‐CoS2)through a sulfidation process.Catalysis plays an important role in almost all battery technologies;for metallic batteries,lithium anodes exhibit a high theoretical specific capacity,low density,and low redox potential.However,during the half‐cell reaction(Li++e=Li),uncontrolled dendritic Li penetrates the separator and solid electrolyte interphase layer.When employed as a composite scaffold for lithium metal deposition,there are many advantage to using this framework:1)the VSP‐CoS2 substrate provides a high specific surface area to dissipate the ion flux and mass transfer and acts as a pre‐catalyst,2)the catalytic Co center favors the charge transfer process and preferentially binds the Li+with the enhanced electrical fields,and 3)the VSP structure guides the metallic propagation along the nanosheet 2D orientation without the protrusive dendrites.All these features enable the VSP structure in metallic batteries with encouraging performances.展开更多

It is seen that the main stream media becomes more and more under direction of capital groups. Because of the effects created by the Second World War II, also war and media relation has gain different dimensions. Together with this differentiation, a new notion was born in the field of journalism during occupation period of the lraq by the USA--Embedded Journalism This notion, called as "embedded journalism" in English can be translated as "yapismislik--attachment", "gomulmusluk---embeddedness", and "yamanmis-patched" in Turkish. In this connection, developments which have also been realized in the media economics in line with globalization process as seen all other aspects of life, changing of ownership structure in the media, and increase of concentrations, monopolization will be scrutinized in our study in addition how the fact of embedded journalism has affected the most important mission of journalism, objectivity within the framework of relations between journalism and government.展开更多
The structural failure under severe ground motions is primarily caused by their unreasonable seismic failure mode (SFM). This paper provides a methodology aiming at the SFM improvement of reinforced concrete frame str...The structural failure under severe ground motions is primarily caused by their unreasonable seismic failure mode (SFM). This paper provides a methodology aiming at the SFM improvement of reinforced concrete frame structure. An RC frame is modeled and three types of failure criterion are defined as the premise of SFM. Static pushover analysis is adopted to identify the SFM. The dominant failure modes and failure paths of the structure are obtained in three lateral load patterns (inverted trian- gular distribution, uniform distribution and adaptive distribution). Based on the pushover analysis, the sequential failure of components and the probability of the occurrence of plastic hinges are determined. By this, weak components of the structure are detected and herein are strengthened. The project cost of the proposed strengthening strategy increases by 2.4%. Capacity spectrum method is used to study the performance of the strengthening structure. Pushover analysis is conducted again to present the improvement of strength and ductility. Lateral drift and local response through IDA are also studied to indicate that the strengthening of some columns and beams can improve the SFM to enhance the seismic capacity of structure.展开更多
