Through diagnosis, six indexes are discovered that have the most important effects on the subtropical high index. The results of the diagnosis indicate that the technique can identify the factors which are dynamically correlated. It can offer the basis in determining and choosing dynamic conceptual factors.展开更多

The temperature field in rock overlying a high temperature zone has been estimated using experimental research on thermal conductivity of the overlying strata. Numerical analysis software was used to esti- mate rock thermal conductivity at different temperatures. These estimates were then used with COMSOL Multiphysics to perform a numerical analysis with the heat conduction model. The results show that rock thermal conductivity decreases as the temperature increases and that various lithologies show similar behavior. The thermal conductivity of each rock type differs from the others at a given temperature. Exact values for the temperature distribution in the overlying strata during the process of underground coal gasification are obtained from the numerical simulation. The temperature in the rock changes with the height and direction from the gasifier. Temperature gradients vary for different types of rock. This result provides an important reference for further study of the strength of overlying strata subject to the process of underground coal gasification.展开更多

The results of diagnostic analyses show that the rainstorm occurs in the area in which hp is positive at 700 hPa and energy is unstable. The change of helicity can reflect the movement and development of synoptic system and the position and intensity of the rainstorm. The value of hp is a negative center at the upper level and a positive at the lower level over the rainstorm position; moreover it can reflect the characteristics of vertical distribution and rotational motion.展开更多

The cavity growth rate (CGR) or the moving rate of the gasification face is affected by controllable (operation pressure, gasification time, geometry of UCG panel) and uncontrollable (coal seam properties) factors. The CGR is usually predicted by mathematical models and laboratory experiments, which are time consuming, cumbersome and expensive. In this paper, a new simple model for CGR is developed using non-linear regression analysis, based on data from 1 l UCG field trials. The empirical model compares satisfactorily with Perkins model and can reliably predict CGR.展开更多

Surface segregation is believed to be driven by the difference in surface energy to reduce the total free energy of the alloy. However, the atomistic processes during the segregation process remain elusive, especially for gas molecule-induced segregation, where both structural and chemical reordering may occur. Herein, we achieved in-situ atomic-scale visualization of the surface segregation behaviors of a solid solution Cu(Au) alloy under the CO gas by an aberration-corrected environmental transmission electron microscope. CO-induced Cu(Au) surface ordering structures largely change the surface chemistry of the alloy. Further gas exposure at elevated temperature could facilitate Au atom diffusion through a specific "atomic channel" structure for dealloying and clustering on the surface. The segregated Au nanoparticles show rich phase and morphological dynamics interacting with the alloy surface, where the gas adsorption also plays an important role. These atomic insights provide direct evidence for the surface segregation and dealloying mechanisms of bimetallic alloys, and highlight the role of gas adsorbate in these surface processes.展开更多
