The results showed that the mixed preparation of B. subtilis and photosynthetic bacteria at a ratio of 1:4 had the best effect in treating COD (P〈0.05), the mixed preparation of B. subtilis and S. faecalis at a ratio of 4:1 showed the best effect in treating ammonia nitrogen (P〈0.05), the mixed preparation of S. faecalis and photosynthetic bacteria at a ratio of 4:1 showed the best effect in treating nitrite nitrogen (P〈0.05), and the mixed preparation of Streptococcus faecalis and photosynthetic bacteria at a ratio of 9:1 had the best effect of reducing sulfide (P〈0.05).展开更多

The maximum concentration of the surfactant is 1.64 g/L when the bacteria grow in a medium supplemented with glucose as carbon sources. The isolated biosurfactant is a complex of protein and polysaccharide without lipids. It reduces the surface tension of distilled water to 45.9 mN/m, and its critical micelle concentration (CMC) is 2.96 g/L. It can stabilize emulsions of several aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons, such as benzene, xylene, n-pentane, n-nonane, gasoline and diesel oil. It presents high emulsification activity and stability in a wide range of temperature (4-100 ℃) and a long period of duration.展开更多

In biodegradation of pyrene by B. subtilis C19, various metabolites was isolated and identified by chromatographic and spectral analyses. Lipopeptide biosurfactant was produced and it has stable emulsification activity. Biosurfactant was produced for enhancing pyrene uptake and bioavaibility. After 30 days incubation, there were no toxic metabolite and biodegradation of pyrene was already complete (only 0.02% undegradable metabolite). Therefore, this strain is suitable for PAHs (polyaromatic hydrocarbons) contaminated environment recovery.展开更多
