姜黄在啮齿类实验动物标认中的应用

目的通过观察姜黄(Curcumae longae rhizoma)乙醇提取液对实验动物皮肤的毒性反应,探讨用姜黄染色标认啮齿类实验动物的可行性。方法姜黄粉加入适量75%乙醇,蘸取上清液标认白化豚鼠,记录随时间而变化的颜色,并用上清液进行多次皮肤刺激性实验、皮肤光毒实验及皮肤变态反应实验。结果经姜黄提取液染色标认后第21天,动物着色仍清晰可见;皮肤反应评分表明姜黄无明显皮肤刺激性、光毒性及变态反应。结论姜黄作为一种传统中药,其黄色食用染料,适用于染色标认啮齿类实验动物。

Feature Recognition of Low-resolution Fiber Image

The interpolatory edge operator is applied to the recognition of cotton and ramie fibers. Its performance is studied in comparison with the Canny edge operator in the fiber’s edge detection for cross-sectional image. The input image is interpolated other than Gaussian function smoothing. The quality of edge output is improved by the interpolatory edge operator. It produces edge output with good continuity for low-resolution input. The fine edge output, such as cross-markings, can be distinguished clearly, so the interpolatory edge operator is suitable for the study of cotton and ramie fibers. Furthermore, the application of the interpolatory edge operator can cut the hardware cost, reduce the storage and speed up the data transmission.

Accounting standards, disclosure requirements and foreign company listings on stock exchanges

Some have claimed that there would be more foreign companies listed on American stock exchanges if foreign companies could use International Financial Reporting Standards （IFRS） instead of American generally accepted accounting principles （GAAP） and could be exempted from some of the disclosure requirements of the Securities and Exchange Commission and of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. In spite of these requirements, as of December 31, 2007, there are approximately 421 non-U.S, companies valued at $11.4 trillion listed on the New York Stock Exchange （NYSE）. Of these 421 companies, 41 companies are from China. This study examines the reasons for Chinese companies choosing to list on the New York Stock Exchange and their experiences with incremental disclosure and listing requirements on the Shanghai, Hong Kong, London, and New York stock exchanges. The lesson for foreign companies everywhere should be that foreign companies should search for those cross listings adding value and not be searching for countries and stock exchanges with weak disclosure and listing requirements.

A Study on Student Interpreters＇ Note-Taking, Interpreting Process and Output

Interpretation, either consecutive or simultaneous, demands more advanced linguistic skills as well as higher cognitive strategies than translation. This paper investigates the characteristics of the notes taken by student interpreters in relation to the output and the process of interpretation with the purpsoe of identifying the role of note-taking in the process of interpretation, its relations with the production quality, and the factors that constrain the development of the students＇ potential as future interpreters. Statistical and qualitative analysis of the notes and think-aloud protocol reveals that students majoring in English should further improve their overall English proficiency. Note-taking, either in source language or target language, or both, should be practiced until students are able to use it expertly. Inspite of the importance of note-taking in interpretation, students should be trained to rely more on memory rather than solely on the notes.

The Influence of the Food Images on Consumers＇ Attention by Using the Eye-Tracking Technology

This study used an eye-tracking methodology to investigate consumers＇ gazing behavior by focusing on how assessment design influences gazing behavior and decision time. Only one factor of test design was investigated and each test contained three images. Eight participants were recruited. This study answered three questions： （1） Does the color of food influence gazing behavior？ （2） Does the color of food influence decision-making？ （3） Is gazing behavior related to decision-making behavior？ The results demonstrated that gazing behavior and decision time have a positive relationship with the image selected. Future research should consider the relationships between eye movements, cognitive goals, and tasks

Global Financial Planning Education Standards

Financial planning may not meet all the accepted criteria of traditional professions such as divinity and law, it does, however, fit the post-modernist view of professions characterized by the role played by professional associations. The hallmark of a profession is the presence of a common body of knowledge and it can be claimed that a theoretical body of knowledge for the ＂financial planning profession＂ has always existed, although it has only been in recent times that agreement has been reached on a common understanding of the theoretical basis of the financial planning profession. This common body of knowledge is the basis upon which the Financial Planning Standards Board [FPSB] is attempting to develop a global curriculum as part of the certification process for financial planners. The FPSB has developed a curriculum framework to be applied by its affiliate members to ensure consistency in global education standards. A review of Certified Financial Planner （CFP） certification in Australia, China, India and the United States exposes differences in how this is approached. The Intemational Organization for Standardization [ISO] has also emerged as another forum in which global financial planning education standards have been set. Although the FPSB＇s global financial planning education standards has a high degree of compatibility with the ISO standard, the ISO standard has largely remained as a shelf reference.

Adorno on Art as Expressive Language

Adorno suggests that art is an essentially expressive language since it is the imitation of natural language. Adorno＇s language thought is derived from Benjamin＇s extensive language theory in which Benjamin claims that all things including human being have languages. The telos of art＇s expression is expressing what the repressed things and human long for speaking. The authentic art preserves the trace of primordial human＇s instinct： mimesis. Through the subject miming the object in the expression of art, the real cognition is realized. According to this model, we can ascertain that artist is the real epistemological subject, the ＂collective subject＂ is factually the speaker of the expression and the epistemological objet which is primary in the production of art. Since art is a language, the standard of art is truth-false, and therefore, the truth content is the criterion of authentic art. Negativity is the core character of truth content.

Suggestion of Criteria and Certification Process to Secure the Safety of Railway Software

One of the significant differences between the digital system and the analog system is software. The software takes charge of the functions and the management of the digital system. Nowadays railway equipment has begun to be designed and implemented based on digital technology with online and real time performance to achieve high speed and high density operation. The software is designed, coded and implemented into the system, and controls hardware components in order to satisfy the functional requirements of the system. As the functions that are implemented by software are increased, it becomes very difficult to predict the soil-ware failures because of its complexity. Therefore, it has become one of the key issues how to assure that the sottware is reliable, safe and secure. In this paper, the safety criteria are suggested to secure the software safety for the field of railway system. Characteristic of railway software and review safety related standards are analyzed. The authors also suggest development methodology and certification procedure for the developer and assessor to easily make safety critical railway software with following the safety criteria.

Different Forms of Rationalities in Aristotle： From Being to Acting

Every philosophical system of Aristotle is structured around different forms of rationalities. Each form of rationality, according to its method, object, and purpose, seeks to apprehend and to know a specific dimension of being, because being manifests itself in many ways, that is, the totality of reality. Yet, each form of understanding the being has its epistemological and ontological status, always anchored in the logic criteria. In general, the aim of the paper is to characterize some aspects of the main forms of rationalities in the thought of Aristotle, i.e., demonstrative, dialectic, physics, metaphysics, productive, and practices. But before that, succinctly, it is necessary to talk about the different dimensions of being and teleology.

The ＂Pictorial Turn＂ as Crisis and the Necessity of a Critique of Visual Culture

The ＂Pictorial＂ or ＂Iconic Turn＂ is a central issue in the contemporary theory of images and visual cultural studies. Should the theories concerning the ＂Iconic Turn＂ and formulated in the last 20 years by scholars such as Gottfried Boehm, William Mitchell, Hans Belting be taken as critical theories of crisis？ Is the currently experienced ＂turn towards images＂ （and their progressive rehabilitation after a long standing philosophical and theological rejection） a sign and symptom of some crisis of people＇s relation with images, language and, generally speaking, with the representation forms of reality？ The main hypothesis of this essay envisages two sets of problems： first, the analysis of the relation between the possible idea of turning point and the concept of crisis; secondly, the thorough investigation of the relation connecting the iconic turn to the project of ＂critical iconology＂ or ＂critique of visual culture,＂ as outlined by Hans Belting and William Mitchell. From the interpretation of the ＂Iconic Turn＂ as situation of crisis and aesthetic, anthropological, and epistemological transformation follows the need for the sciences of image to provide a ＂critical iconology＂ in order to be able to theoretically reformulate the ideological and political presuppositions of some dominant contemporary forms of visual representation.

Identification and Validation of Reference Sites in the Andhi Khola River,Nepal

Reference conditions having no or only minor anthropogenic disturbances, are a basic requirement for ecological studies in rivers. To study ecological impact of a dam, two sites were pre-classiifed as reference or least disturbed in the Andhi Khola River, Nepal, using Rapid Field Bioscreening （RFB） protocol. Biological （macroinvertebrates） and physico-chemical samples were collected in the month of January and February 2013. Multi-habitat sampling （MHS） was employed in sample collection of macro-invertebrates fauna. Validation of the pre-classiifed sites was done using several indices viz. Nepalese biotic score （NEPBIOS）, Biological monitoring working party （BMWP）, Hindu-Kush Himalayan biotic score （HKHBIOS）, Hilsenhoff （HILSENHOFF） ＆ National Sanitation Foundation Water Quality Index （NSFWQI）. The NEPBIOS, HKHBIOS, HILSENHOFF, RFB ＆ NSFWQI indices predicted the river quality at al two sites as good with quality class Ⅱ. Only BMWP/ASPT water quality index predicted the river quality at al two sites as Excelent with quality class Ⅰ. Hence preselected sites with quality of rank Ⅱ i.e. good qualities were validated as reference sites. The study demonstrated that the multi-metric approach is suitable for application in the monitoring and assessment of rivers where dams are built to produce hydropower.

Water quality criteria for 4-nonylphenol in protection of aquatic life

Here reproduction and death toxicity data were selected for 4-nonylphenol based on endocrine disrupting properties of the re- productive system. Assessment factor （AF） and species sensitivity distribution （SSD） curve were employed to derive criteria maximum concentration （CMC） and criteria continuous concentration （CCC） of three different 4-nonylphenols for protection of aquatic life. The results showed that the CMC and CCC based on SSD method and death toxicity data for three different 4-nonylphenols （CAS No： 104405, 25154523, 84852163） were 26.7, 13.6, 3.84μg L-1 and 8.86, 2.21, 0.97 μg L-1, respectively. Based on SSD and reproductive toxicity data, the CCC values of different 4-nonylphenols （CAS No： 104405, 25154523） were 1.59 and 1.34μg L-l, respectively. The CCC values obtained by the AF for three different 4-nonylphenol （CAS No： 104405, 25154523, 84852163） were 0.165, 1.03, 0.74 μg L -1 and 0.5, 0.5, 0.1μg L-1, respectively, based on death toxicity data and re- productive toxicity data. The CCC values obtained by AF were all lower than the corresponding criteria values obtained by SSD, and the CCC values based on reproductive toxicity data were less than those based on the death toxicity data. This study provides a useful method for deriving water quality criteria for endocrine disruptors.

Formal Analysis of Authentication in 802.11i

Authentication is the basis of the security of IEEE 802.11i standard. The authentication process in 802.11i involves two important protocols： a 4-way handshake and a group key handshake. A formal analysis of authentication in 802.11i is given via a belief multisets formalism. The analysis shows that the 4-way handshake and the group key handshake may provide satisfactory mutual authentication, key management, and issue of a new group temporal key from an access point to a user device, under the guarantee of mutual possession of a confidential palrwise master key. The analysis also shows that there exists a denial of service attack in the 4-way handshake and some seeming redundancies are useful in the protocol implementation.

Influence of acupuncture on cognitive function and markers of oxidative DNA damage in patients with vascular dementia

OBJECTIVE:To test the influence of acupuncture on cognitive function and a marker of oxidative DNA damage in patients with vascular dementia(VD).METHODS:Sixteen VD patients were evaluated before and after acupuncture,using the Folstein Mini-Mental State Examination-Revised(MMSE-R) to assess cognitive function,and the ADL-R scale to assess independence in activities of daily living(ADL).Life quality was evaluated using the DEMQOL(Dementia quality of life questionnaire) questionnaire,and syndromes and expression of vascular dementia were evaluated with the Scale for the Differentiation of Syndromes of Vascular Dementia(SDSVD).In addition,the urine concentration of 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine(8-OHdG)-a marker of oxidative damage-was quantified with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.RESULTS:The MMSE-R and DEMQOL scores were higher after acupuncture than before(P<0.05),while there were no obvious differences in the ADL-R or SDSVD scores(P>0.05).The 8-OHdG content in urine significantly decreased after acupuncture(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:Acupuncture reduces the levels of 8-OHdG and improves cognitive function and quality of life in VD patients,suggesting that acupuncture is beneficial at least in part by preventing oxidative damage.
