Application of QPSO-KM Algorithm in Wine Quality Classification

The difference test was conducted on the evaluation data of the two groups of testers. The results showed that the evaluation data of the second group were more reliable compared with those of the first group. At the same time, the KM algorithm was optimized using the QPSO algorithm. The wine classification model was established. Compared with the other two algorithms, the QPSO-KM algorithm was more capable of searching the globally optimum solution, and it could be used to classify the wine samples. In addition,the QPSO-KM algorithm could also be used to solve the issues about clustering. 展开更多

A novel radio-map establishment based on fuzzy clustering for hybrid K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) and Artifi cial Neural Network (ANN) position algorithm in WLAN indoor environment is proposed. First of all, the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is utilized for the purpose of simplifying input dimensions of position estimation algorithm and saving storage cost for the establishment of radio-map. Then, reference points (RPs) calibrated in the off-line phase are divided into separate clusters by Fuzzy C-means clustering (FCM), and membership degrees (MDs) for different clusters are also allocated to each RPs. However, the singular RPs cased by the multi-path effect signifi cantly decreases the clustering performance. Therefore, a novel radio-map establishment method is presented based on the modifi cation of signal samples recorded at singular RPs by surface fitting. In the on-line phase, the region which the mobile terminal (MT) belongs to is estimated according to the MDs firstly. Then, in estimated small dimensional regions, MT's coordinates are calculated byKNN positioning method for efficiency purpose. However, for the regions including singular RPs, ANN method is utilized because ofits great pattern matching ability. Furthermore, compared with other typical indoor positioning methods, feasibility and effectiveness of this hybrid KNN/ANN method are also verified by the experimental results in static and tracking situations. 展开更多

Luffing mechanism is a key component of the construction machinery.This paper proposes a two degree of freedom(2-DOF)luffing mechanism,which has one more pair of driving cylinders than the single DOF luffing mechanism,to improve the performance of the machinery.To establish the dynamic model of the 2-DOF luffing mechanism,firstly,we develop a hierarchical method to deduce the Jacobian matrix and Hessian matrix for obtaining the kinematics equations.Subsequently,we divide the luffing mechanism into six bodies considering actuators,and deduce the kinetic equations of each body by the Newton-Euler method.Based on the dynamic model,we simulate the luffing process.Finally,a prototype is built on a pile driver to validate the model.Simulations and experiments show that the dynamic model can reflect the dynamic properties of the proposed luffing mechanism.And the control strategy that the front cylinders retract first shows better mechanical behavior than the other two control strategies.This research provides a reference for the design and application of 2-DOF luffing mechanism on construction machinery.The modeling approach can also be applied to similar mechanism with serial closed kinematic chains,which allows to calculate the dynamic parameters easily and exactly. 展开更多

We introduce the potential-decomposition strategy (PDS), which can be used in Markov chain Monte Carlo sampling algorithms. PDS can be designed to make particles move in a modified potential that favors diffusion in phase space, then, by rejecting some trial samples, the target distributions can be sampled in an unbiased manner. Furthermore, if the accepted trial samples are insumcient, they can be recycled as initial states to form more unbiased samples. This strategy can greatly improve efficiency when the original potential has multiple metastable states separated by large barriers. We apply PDS to the 2d Ising model and a double-well potential model with a large barrier, demonstrating in these two representative examples that convergence is accelerated by orders of magnitude. 展开更多

To analyze the effect of the region of the model inputs on the model output,a novel concept about contribution to the sample failure probability plot(CSFP) is proposed based on the contribution to the sample mean plot(CSM) and the contribution to the sample variance plot(CSV).The CSFP can be used to analyze the effect of the region of the model inputs on the failure probability.After the definition of CSFP,its property and the differences between CSFP and CSV/CSM are discussed.The proposed CSFP can not only provide the information about which input affects the failure probability mostly,but also identify the contribution of the regions of the input to the failure probability mostly.By employing the Kriging model method on optimized sample points,a solution for CSFP is obtained.The computational cost for solving CSFP is greatly decreased because of the efficiency of Kriging surrogate model.Some examples are used to illustrate the validity of the proposed CSFP and the applicability and feasibility of the Kriging surrogate method based solution for CSFP. 展开更多

Due to the good balance between high efficiency and accuracy, meta-model based optimization algorithm is an important global optimization category and has been widely applied. To better solve the highly nonlinear and computation intensive en- gineering optimization problems, an enhanced hybrid and adaptive meta-model based global optimization (E-HAM) is first proposed in this work. Important region update method (IRU) and different sampling size strategies are proposed in the opti- mization method to enhance the performance. By applying self-moving and scaling strategy, the important region will be up- dated adaptively according to the search results to improve the resulting precision and convergence rate. Rough sampling strategy and intensive sampling strategy are applied at different stages of the optimization to improve the search efficiently and avoid results prematurely gathering in a small design space. The effectiveness of the new optimization algorithm is verified by comparing to six optimization methods with different variables bench mark optimization problems. The E-HAM optimization method is then applied to optimize the design parameters of the practical negative Poisson's ratio (NPR) crash box in this work. The results indicate that the proposed E-HAM has high accuracy and efficiency in optimizing the computation intensive prob- lems and can be widely used in engineering industry. 展开更多

High-resolution and detailed regional soil spatial distribution information is increasingly needed for ecological modeling and land resource management. For areas with no point data, regional soil mapping includes two steps: soil sampling and soil mapping. Because sampling over a large area is costly, efficient sampling strategies are required. A multi-grade representative sampling strategy, which designs a small number of representative samples with different representative grades to depict soil spatial variations at different scales, could be a potentially efficient sampling strategy for regional soil mapping. Additionally, a suitable soil mapping approach is needed to map regional soil variations based on a small number of samples. In this study, the multi-grade representative sampling strategy was applied and a fuzzy membership-weighted soil mapping approach was developed to map soil sand percentage and soil organic carbon (SOC) at 0-20 and 20-40 cm depths in a study area of 5 900 km2 in Anhui Province of China. First, geographical sub-areas were delineated using a parent lithology data layer. Next, fuzzy c-means clustering was applied to two climate and four terrain variables in each stratum. The clustering results (environmental cluster chains) were used to locate representative samples. Evaluations based on an independent validation sample set showed that the addition of samples with lower representativeness generally led to a decrease of root mean square error (RMSE). The declining rates of RMSE with the addition of samples slowed down for 20-40 cm depth, but fluctuated for 0-20 cm depth. The predicted SOC maps based on the representative samples exhibited higher accuracy, especially for soil depth 20-40 cm, as compared to those based on legacy soil data. Multi-grade representative sampling could be an effective sampling strategy at a regional scale. This sampling strategy, combined with the fuzzy membership-based mapping approach, could be an optional effective framework for regional soil property mapping. A more detailed and accurate soft parent material map and the addition of environmental variables representing human activities would improve mapping accuracy. 展开更多

It is not only a complex coupled system design problem but also a special multi-objective optimization problem. The greatest challenge in solving this problem is that the function to be optimized is characterized by a multitude of local minima separated by high-energy barriers. The Wang-Landau(WL) sampling method, which is an improved Monte Carlo method, has been successfully applied to solve many optimization problems. In this paper we use the WL sampling method to optimize the layout of a satellite module. To accelerate the search for a global optimal layout, local search(LS) based on the gradient method is executed once the Monte-Carlo sweep produces a new layout. By combining the WL sampling algorithm, the LS method, and heuristic layout update strategies, a hybrid method called WL-LS is proposed to obtain a final layout scheme. Furthermore, to improve significantly the efficiency of the algorithm, we propose an accurate and fast computational method for the overlapping depth between two objects(such as two rectangular objects, two circular objects, or a rectangular object and a circular object) embedding each other. The rectangular objects are placed orthogonally. We test two instances using first 51 and then 53 objects. For both instances, the proposed WL-LS algorithm outperforms methods in the literature. Numerical results show that the WL-LS algorithm is an effective method for layout optimization of satellite modules. 展开更多

Traditional compartmental models such as SIR(susceptible,infected,recovered)assume that the epidemic transmits in a homogeneous population,but the real contact patterns in epidemics are heterogeneous.Employing a more realistic model that considers heterogeneous contact is consequently necessary.Here,we use a contact network to reconstruct unprotected,protected contact,and airborne spread to simulate the two-stages outbreak of COVID-19(coronavirus disease 2019)on the‘‘Diamond Princess"cruise ship.We employ Bayesian inference and Metropolis-Hastings sampling to estimate the model parameters and quantify the uncertainties by the ensemble simulation technique.During the early epidemic with intensive social contacts,the results reveal that the average transmissibility t was 0.026 and the basic reproductive number R0 was 6.94,triple that in the WHO report,indicating that all people would be infected in one month.The t and R0 decreased to 0.0007 and 0.2 when quarantine was implemented.The reconstruction suggests that diluting the airborne virus concentration in closed settings is useful in addition to isolation,and high-risk susceptible should follow rigorous prevention measures in case exposed.This study can provide useful implications for control and prevention measures for the other cruise ships and closed settings. 展开更多
