The effects of magnesium vapor pressure, condensation temperature, and condensation zone temperature gradient on magnesium vapor nucleation in phase transitions and condensation from atomic collision and coacervation with collision under vacuum conditions were discussed. Magnesium powder and magnesium lump condensates were produced under different conditions and characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The right condensation zone temperature approach to the liquid transition primarily improved the magnesium vapor concentration rate. The gas-solid phase transition was primarily inhibited by setting a small condenser temperature gradient. Under the right condensation temperature and temperature gradients, increasing magnesium vapor partial pressure improved crystallization and reduced the oxidation rate.展开更多

The final coated particle exiting from the con- denser is then introduced into the aerodynamic particle sizer spectrometer or home-built aerosol laser time-of-flight mass spectrometer, and its aerodynamic size directly effects on the matrix-to-analyte molar ratio, which is very important for MALDI technique. In order to observe the protonated analyte molecular ion, and then determine the classification of bi- ological aerosols, the matrix-to-analyte molar ratio must be appropriate. Four experimental parameters, including the temperature of the heated reservoir, the initial particle size, its number concentration, and the matrix material, were tested experimentally to analyze their influences on the final particle size. This technique represents an on-line system of detection that has the potential to provide rapid and reliable identification of airborne biological aerosols.展开更多

Numerical simulation results show that most of the nuclei on the top surface of the melt move downwards and distribute randomly inside the Al melt, which induces more nucleation sites resulting in grain refinement. At the same time, the effect of nuclei size on the nuclei distribution and refinement employing electric current pulse (ECP) was also investigated. The smaller nuclei migrate a short distance with the Al melt at lower speed. But for the larger nuclei, the migration downwards with higher speed benefits the refinement of interior grains of the melt. The research results help to better understand the refinement process and provide a more reasonable explanation of the grain refinement mechanism using ECP.展开更多

The basic idea of this method is: First map data from the original space into high-dimensional feature space via nonlinear kernel function and then extract optimal feature vector and discriminant vector in feature space and calculate the Euclidean distance between feature vectors to perform process monitoring. Similar degree between the present discriminant vector and optimal discriminant vector of fault in historical dataset is used for diagnosis. The proposed method can effectively capture the nonlinear relationship among process variables. Simulating results of the turbo generator's fault data set prove that the proposed method is effective.展开更多

The dependence of the size distributions of SOA on both the level of pre-existing particles generated in situ from the photo-oxidation of trace hydrocarbons of indoor atmosphere and the concentration of precursor, has been investi- gated. It was shown that in the presence of high-level seed aerosol and low-level isoprene (typical urban atmospheric conditions), particle growth due to condensation of secondary organic products on pre-existing particles dominated; while in the presence of low-level seed aerosol and comparatively high-level isoprene (typical atmospheric conditions in rural re-gion), bimodal structures appeared in the size distributions of SOA, which corresponded to new particle formation resulting from homogeneous nucleation and particle growth due to condensation of secondary organic products on the per-existing particles respectively. The effects of concentrations of organic seed particles on SOA were also investigated. The particle size distributions evolutions as well as the corresponding formation rates of new particles in different conditions were also estimated.展开更多

Its calorimetric behavior was characterized by using differential scanning calorimeter in a continuous or isothermal heating mode. phase transformation was investigated, with a special interest in primary crystallization, by using an in-situ examination of X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The results show that, the whole devitrification of rapidly solidified Al87NiyCu3Nd3 amorphous alloy involves two main processes of primary crystallization and secondary crystallization that consist mainly of two reactions. For primary crystallization, the apparent activation energies, EIso and EKis and growth activation energies Eg are about 153, 166 and 288 kJ/mol, respectively. The interdiffusion of Al atoms is a rate-controlled step of formation of the a(Al) particles, but slow diffusion of Ni and Nd atoms plays a significant role in retarding growth of the α (Al) particles. For secondary crystallization, EIso, EKis and Eg of the first reaction are about 291,208 and 290 kJ/mol, and those of the second reaction are about 367, 269 and 372 kJ/mol. The two reactions of secondary crystallization are controlled mainly in an interface-controlled three-dimensional mode, depending mainly on slow diffusion of Ni and Nd atoms.展开更多

Multiresponsive core-shell nanogels were prepared by dispersion polymerization of N-isopropylacrylamide in water using these poly(potassium acrylate) macro-RAFT agents as the electrostcric stabilizer. The size of the nanogels decreases with the amount of the macro-RAFT agent, indicating that the surface area occupied by per polyelectrolyte group is a critical parameter for stabilizing the nanogels. The volume phase transition and the zeta potentials of the nanogels in aqueous solutions were studied by dynamic light scattering and zetasizer analyzer, respectively.展开更多
