The solution to some of the problems such as illumination changes, initialization of model with moving objects, and shadows suppression was provided. The background samples were chosen by thresholding inter-frame differences, and the Gaussian kernel density estimation was used to estimate the probability density function of background intensity. Pixel's neighbor information was considered to remove noise due to camera jitter and small motion in the scene. The hue-max-min-diff color information was used to detect and suppress moving cast shadows. The effectiveness of the proposed method in the foreground segmentation was demonstrated in the traffic surveillance application.展开更多

METHODS Thirty-five patients (20 men,15 women) with inflammatory ulcerative bowel diseases were stud- ied radiographically (barium meal and/or double con- trast study),including:11 cases of tuberculosis,13 Crohn disease,7 bowel Behcet disease,2 simple ulcer and 2 ischemic bowel disease. Diagnosis was estab- lished pathologically in 33 cases and by clinical obser- vation after therapy in 2 cases. RESULTS The lesions were located in ileum,in 9 of 11 cases of TB;in 10 of 13 cases of Crohn disease;in 5 of 7 cases of bowel Behcet disease;in 1 of 2 cases of simple ulcer and in 2 cases of ischemic bowel disease. Ulceration was always present with variable appearances. Longitudinal ulcers, and fissures were noted in Crohn disease only. There were 5 cases of large and deep ulcer and 3 occurred in bowel Behcet disease,10 of 13 cases of superficial and irregular ul- cers were tuberculous,2 cases of transverse ulcer were also tuberculous. CONCLUSIONS The morphologic appearances of the ulcer, surrounding mucosal alterations and bowel deformation were the basis for the radiologic diagnosis. Correct diagnosis was dependent on optimal X-ray ex- amination technique and proper interpretation of the morphologic changes.展开更多

Traditional radiological techniques played a leading role in such studies for a long time. However, advances in non-invasive modalities including ultrasound (US), computed tomography (CT), positron emission tomography (PET), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), etc, have in the last decades revolutionised the way in which the gastrointestinal tract is studied. The resolution of imaging data is constantly being improved and 3D acquisition, tools for fi ltering, enhancement, segmentation and tissue classif ication are continually being developed. Additional co-registration techniques allow multimodal data acquisition with improved classif ication of tissue pathology. Furthermore, new functional imaging techniques have become available. Altogether, the future of gastrointestinal imaging looks very promising which will be of great benef it in clinical and research studies of gastrointestinal diseases. The purpose of this review is to highlight the capabilities of the newest techniques to explore the detailed morphology, biomechanical properties, function and pathology of the gastrointestinal tract.展开更多

Endoscopic and radiographic measures are available for the evaluation and treatment of LGIB including flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, angiography, radionuclide scintigraphy and multi detector row computed tomography. Although no modality has emerged as the gold standard in the management of LGIB, colonoscopy is the current preferred initial test for the majority of the patients presenting with hema- tochezia felt to be from a colon source. Colonoscopy has the ability to diagnose all sources of bleeding from the colon and, unlike the radiologic modalities, does not require active bleeding at the time of the examination. In addition, therapeutic interventions such as cautery and endoclips can be applied to achieve hemoo stasis and prevent recurrent bleeding. Studies suggest that colonoscopy, particularly when performed earlyin the hospitalization, can decrease hospital length of stay, rebleeding and the need for surgery. However, results from available small trials are conflicting and larger, multicenter studies are needed. Compared to other management options, colonoscopy is a safe procedure with complications reported in less than 2% of patients, including those undergoing urgent examinations. The requirement of bowel preparation (typically 4 or more liters of polyethylene glycol), the logistical complexity of coordinating after hours colonoscopy, and the low prevalence of stigmata of hemorrhage complicate the use of colonoscopy for LGIB, particularly in urgent situations. This review discusses the above advantages and disadvantages of colonoscopy in the management of acute lower gastrointestinal bleeding in further detail.展开更多

Numerous complaints have already been filed against the EIA, challenging the scientific integrity of the report on the following grounds: misrepresentation of failure to specify the radioactive inventory and of projected releases into the environment, omitting tritium and carbon-14; incomplete information about the toxic chemicals which will be injected into the cooling system throughout the nuclear complex; misleading information about the cooling water's temporal and chemical effects on marine life; lack of details on an emergency evacuation plan; lack of a comprehensive nuclear waste management plan; unspecified insurance coverage for the nuclear complex, noncompliance with third party liability requirements. Coupled with these complaints are allegations that signatures on some sensitive reports contained or referred to have been falsified.展开更多

The polysemous character makes it sensitive and complex phenomena. For instance, value that is acceptable in the western part of Nigeria may be unacceptable in the north or east. This clearly implies that value, although may be of the people, is relative and subjective. This study made use of survey research design with a single research question set to guide it. Data were collected from 362 respondents who were purposively selected in the study area (Lagos State, Nigeria) as sample size. Data gathering were done on the field with the aid of questionnaire and analyzed with descriptive statistics. Specifically, a Table of frequency and percentage distribution was employed and scoring of variables was done vis-h-vis the responses of the consumers of staple commodities to look at the extent to which societal values have influenced product advertisements in the State. The Mean and standard deviation was calculated. The result of the study presented in Table 1 shows that all the societal values scoped for this study (culture, moral, religion, taste, language and color) influence consumers in one way or the other but the portrayal of religious design concept to influence consumers to patronize staple commodities ranked best of all. The study observed that of all the societal values traceable to advertising campaign in Lagos State, religion-inclined advertising designs are gaining a rising number of influences. It therefore concludes that religious and cultural designs, when appropriately applied help outdoor advertising to thrive well in Lagos State.展开更多

Lake whitefish supports important commercial fisheries in Lake Huron and both species make use of habitats near the Bruce Nuclear Power Development, on the eastern shore of Lake Huron. Most fish of both species showed generalist feeding behavior, but some lake whitefish appeared to show specialist prey selection. The invasive spiny water flea Bythotrephes longimanus was an important component of the diet of both species. There was considerable dietary overlap between the whitefish species, but the ecological implications of these dietary overlaps are mitigated by the fact that dominant prey species differed in most seasons. We conclude that the potential for ecologically significant interactions between lake whitefish and round whitefish resulting from competition for similar benthic food resources in the main basin of Lake Huron is probably low [Current Zoology 56 (1): 109-117, 2010].展开更多

Although the development of theoretical research on the western exhibition industry has taken place over time, the spatial perspective has not been at the centre of attention so far. This paper aims to fill this gap and report on the agglomeration characteristics of exhibition enterprises and their influential factors. Based on data about exhibition enterprises in the Pearl River Delta(PRD) during 1991–2013, using the Ripley K function analysis and kernel density estimation, this research identifies that: 1) the exhibition enterprise on the regional scale is significantly characterized by spatial agglomeration, and the agglomeration density and scale are continuously increasing; 2) the spatial pattern of agglomeration has developed from a single-center to multi-center form. Meanwhile, this paper profiles the factors influencing the spatial agglomeration of exhibition enterprises by selecting the panel data of nine cities in the PRD in 1999, 2002, 2006 and 2013. The results show that market capacity, urban informatization level and exhibition venues significantly influence the location choice of exhibition enterprises. Among them, the market capacity is a variable that exerts a far greater impact than other factors do.展开更多

METHODS: Mouse bone marrow-derived monocytes were incubated with mouse granulocyte macrophage colony stimulating factor (mGM-CSF) in vitro, and the purity of monocytes was detected by flow cytometry. Total RNA of CT-26 was obtained by TRIzol's process, and monocytes were transfected by TransMessenger in vitro. The activity of cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) in vivo was estimated by the modified lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release assay. Changes of tumor size in mice and animal's survival time were observed in different groups. RESULTS: Monocytes from mouse bone marrow were successfully incubated, and the positive rate of CDllb was over 95%. Vaccination of the monocytes transfected with total RNA induced a high level of specific CTL activity in vivo, and made mice resistant to the subsequent challenge of parental tumor cells. In vivo effects induced by monocytes transfected with total RNA were stronger than those induced by monocytes pulsed with tumor cell lysates. CONCLUSION: Antigen presenting cells transfected with total RNA of CT-26 can present endogenous? tumor antigens, activate CTL, and effectively induce specific antitumor immunity.展开更多

It is believed that the carbon-tritium co-deposited film produced by the erosion of carbon diverter walls has a high tritium concentration. However, no systematic evaluation for the tritium concentration has been conducted yet. In the present study, the carbon-hydrogen co-deposited films were prepared at the wall of pumping duct in Local Island Divertor experiments of LHD, in order to evaluate the tritium concentration of the co-deposited films produced in ITER. The hydrogen concentration was obtained by measuring the amount of retained hydrogen in the film and the mass density of the film. The hydrogen concentration of the co-deposited carbon film at the wall not facing to the plasma with a low temperature was extremely high, 1.3 in the atomic ratio of H/C. This value is triple times higher than the previous value obtained so far. The crystal structure of the co-deposited carbon film observed by Raman spectroscopy showed very unique structure (polymeric aC:H), which is well consistent with the high hydrogen concentration. The present study suggests that the tritium concentration of the co-deposited film in ITER depends on the wall position and becomes quite high as high as T/C-0.65. The results obtained contribute to evaluate the in-vessel tritium inventory owing to the co-deposited carbon films.展开更多

Methods: Pulmonary arteriography by DSA were performed in 6 goats and the stent was released in the infer-pulmonary arterary. Arterial blood gas analysis and right heart catheterization were done. After 3 days of embolism, pulmonary arteriography were performed again. After the animal was sacrificed, the right and left infer-pulmonary tissues were prepared and pathologically studied. Results: Stents were smoothly released in 6 animals. Compared with that before embolism, the arterial blood gas showed no difference 10 minutes later and 3 days later of the stent released. The pulmonary angiography showed that the right infra pulmonary artery was partly blocked and the blood could still pass by. 3 d of the embolism later, the stent was placed well and the right pulmonary artery was completely blocked. Compared with that before embolism, the right atrial pressure, ventricular pressure and the pulmonary pressure in 10 rain after embolism did not change much ( P 〉 0.05 ), while 3 d after embolism, the pressures were obviously changed(P 〈 0.05 ). There was no atelectasis ,pleural effusion in the right infra lobe in the experimental group. The wall of blood capillary among the alve- olar wall were significantly dilated. Hyperemia and edema were also observed. Lots of monocyte infiltrated. Localized exudates appeared in alveolar. Conclusion: By releasing stent in the pulmonary, the chronic pulmonary embolism model could be established in the animal experiment, and it should have great potential value in the following study.展开更多

A comparative analysis was designed to identify the factors related to therapeutic response. Methods From a 3-year multi-center clinical trial, 51 cases were collected who did not respond to an intravenous injection of 153Sm-EDTMP at a dosage of 0.5-1.5 mCi/kg. The therapeutic efficacy was evaluated via changes of symptoms, general condition, consumption of analgesics, sum of effect product, and Karnofsky scores. The age, sex, history of treatment, tumor type, location of bony involvement, uptake ratio and number of metastases, and doses used by the patients were compared to those of the responders. Results In 51 non-responders, 43 were male, 34 suffered from lung cancer, 41 had bone lesions in the vertebrae, 39 in the pelvis, and 24 had metastases in the lower extremities. Sex distribution, tumor type and location of the lesion differed significantly between responders and non-responders. No other factor showed differences between the two groups. Though patients of younger age, and lesions with lower uptake of radiopharmaceutical seemed to fail the treatment more easily as observed clinically, this was not confirmed by statistical analysis. Conclusion The sex of the patients, certain types of primary tumors and metastases to lower parts of the body were found to influence the patients’ response to a single dose of 153Sm-EDTMP palliation. Further exploration of a better way to determine dosage and predict response for each individual case is needed.展开更多

The results obtained contribute to evaluate the in-vessel tritium inventory owing to the co-deposited carbon films.

文摘Objective: To establish the animal model for the chronic pulmonary embolism and do some research on it. Conclusion: By releasing stent in the pulmonary, the chronic pulmonary embolism model could be established in the animal experiment, and it should have great potential value in the following study.
文摘Objective A certain fraction of patients failed palliative treatment of 153Sm-ethylenediaminetetramethy lenephosphate ( 153Sm-EDTMP) for painful skeletal metastases were reviewd. Further exploration of a better way to determine dosage and predict response for each individual case is needed.

文摘The g factors and spectroscopic quadrupole moments of low-lying excited states 2+1,…,81+ in 24Mg are studied in a covariant density functional theory. The wave functions are constructed by configuration mixing of axially deformed mean-field states projected on good angular momentum. The mean-field states are obtained from the constraint relativistic point-coupling model plus BCS calculations using the PC-F1 parametrization for the particle-hole channel and a density-independent delta-force for the particle-particle channel. The available experimental g factor and spectroscopic quadrupole moment of 21+ state are reproduced quite well. The angular momentum dependence of g factors and spectroscopic quadrupole moments,as well as the effects of pairing correlations are investigated.
