In 2003, it was, together with other safety and hazard analyses, subject to the Periodic Safety Review (PSR). In the PSR, it was stated that methodological PSA approaches and guidelines have evoluted during the past decade and several observations were provided, concerning the area screening process, residual risk and treatment of plant damage states and risk from radioactivity releases (i.e., Level 2 PSA). In order to address the PSR observations, upgrade ofKrsko NPP internal flooding PSA was undertaken. The area screening process was revisited in order to cover the areas without automatic reactor trip equipment. The model was extended to Level 2. Residual risk was estimated at both Level 1 and Level 2, in terms of core damage frequency (CDF) and large early release frequency (LERF), respectively.展开更多

The supply and demand of uranium resources both domestically and abroad is firstly analyzed in the paper. The supply can still meet the demand in the short run, but the risk of shortage may exist in the long run. Moreover, the lack oJuranium resources will exist globally no matter at present or in the future. ThereJore, the main.factor restraining the nuclear power development in China is the short supply of uranium. Finally, recommendations are put Jorward such as strengthening the exploration and production of domestic uranium, cooperating with foreign enterprises in the exploration of uraniam mines, building the reserves, and proactively developing the fourth generation of nuclear power technology and so on.展开更多

A nearby maritime oil spill accident is one of the external events analysed in the probabilistic ri...Fennovoima is planning to build a new nuclear power plant unit-Hanhikivi 1, on a greenfield site in Northern Finland. A nearby maritime oil spill accident is one of the external events analysed in the probabilistic risk assessment of the plant. In the worst case, the oil could cause a loss of the ultimate heat sink by blocking the sea water intake screens. By considering the maritime traffic, oil transport and oil spill accident data in the Baltic Sea area, the annual probabilities of nearby, significant oil spills are evaluated. Event tree analysis is used to evaluate the probability that significant amount of oil enters the plant intake tunnel. The spill behaviour is considered, including oil spreading, dissolution, dispersion and movement due to wind and currents. In addition, oil combat measures including the use ofoil booms and skimmers are evaluated.展开更多

Four risk levels are defined: low risk, moderate risk,hig...This study constructs a potential risk index(PRI) for the 65 U.S.-based commercial nuclear power plant(NPP) sites in relation to their surrounding populations. Four risk levels are defined: low risk, moderate risk,high risk, and very high risk. Discrepancies that exist in the sociodemographic characteristics of the host communities’ populations are examined as sorted by risk-level category.It is found that a greater percentage of minority groups are exposed to the highest levels of risk. In addition, percent 'Hispanic' and percent 'Other,'a grouping that includes multiracial, mixed, interracial, as well as Hispanic and Latino groups(for example, Mexican, Puerto Rican,Cuban, or Spanish) are categories that show the greatest percent change in both the period 1990–2000 and2000–2010.展开更多
