In this study, fabrics which are made of flame resistant cotton, Nomex, polybenzimidazole (PBI), polysulfonamide (PSA), kermel, and blend of kermei with rayon fiber are investigated on high intensity of different radiant and convective heat source. The mechanism of heat transfer in different situations is discussed. It is identified that exposed candition has an important effect on thermal protective performance. TPP rating increases with the increasing percentage of convective heat.展开更多
Newly developed black garlic had made a sensational debut with a strong anti-tumor potency proved by the mouse tumor model in 2006 from our laboratory. At that time few researches on it have been conducted due to less...Newly developed black garlic had made a sensational debut with a strong anti-tumor potency proved by the mouse tumor model in 2006 from our laboratory. At that time few researches on it have been conducted due to less popularity of the products even among the researching field. Since then some of the bio-functional works of the black garlic gradually appeared along with gaining of its popularity. Representative bio-activities reported up to now are: (1) enhancement of anti-tumor potency in the mouse tumor model; (2) immune system enforcement, and suppressive act against allergic symptoms caused by decreasing IL-4 cytokine production; (3) bacteria killing potency; (4) anti-oxidant activity; (5) reduction of carcinogenic potency; (6) lowering cholesterol level and preventive work against obesity; (7) controlling high blood pressure; (8) beneficial effect against diabetics; (9) regenerative effect to the burned skin (Clinical study case) et al. On the black garlic business (marketing), the Aomori Black Garlic Union (Association) had been established in Aomori Prefecture to offer the citizen high quality, high safety and high security black garlic (products) aiming at contribution for health improvement. All union members are now exerting themselves to the most to attain the high quality production of the black garlic. The quality proving certification seal will be issued to the products that passed the quality approval test by the third party inspections to place it on the their products. This system is now effectively working to guarantee the garlic quality and differentiate the Union member's products from others at the markets.展开更多

The genotypes demonstrated high biomass production (up to 100 t'ha1 and more). The genotypes ripening to full reproductive seeds were selected for seed production and introduction in the northern Kazakhstan. Lactic acid bacteria Lactobacillus plantarum S-1, Streptococcus thermophilus F-1 and Lactococcus lactis F-4 essentially enhance the fermentation process, suppressing undesirable microbiological processes, reducing the loss of nutrient compounds, accelerating in 2 times maturation ensilage process and providing higher quality of the feed product.展开更多

The main purpose of this study was to detect an association of cytoplasmic signal transducers and activators of transcription-1 (STAT1) with milk production traits in 472 Holstein and 283 Jersey cattle breeds of Tur...The main purpose of this study was to detect an association of cytoplasmic signal transducers and activators of transcription-1 (STAT1) with milk production traits in 472 Holstein and 283 Jersey cattle breeds of Turkey. This gene, located on chromosome 2, was chosen due to its role on development of mammary gland. A polymorphism of selected 314 bp allele fragment was detected by the restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis of polymerase chain reaction-amplified fragments (PCR-RFLP) method and also confirmed by DNA sequencing. The association tests were conducted between STAT1 genotypes and some economically important dairy traits. The genotypes for C/T as a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) were identified at interval 60 cM to 63 cM. The effects of STAT1 gene on milk production traits were not significant in Holstein cows, although animals with CT genotypes showed fairly close to significant value for the corrected 305 d milk yield. However, Jersey cows with/7" genotype were 2.07 kg higher for test-day milk yield (P 〈 0.05), 0.13 kg for fat yield (P 〈 0.01) and 0.07 kg for protein yield (P 〈 0.05) compared with animals having CC and CT genotypes. Definitely, the further research should be conducted to search this gene intensively with larger samples to identify polymorphism and any association between the economically important traits and genotypic class in Holstein cows. Finally, based on the findings, it was concluded that STATI gene might be used as a potential candidate gene to improve milk yield and milk fat and protein contents in dairy cows breeding programs.展开更多

Halide perovskite single crystals(HPSCs)provide a unique platform to study the optoelectronic properties of such emerging semiconductor materials,while the temperature induced crystal growth method often has an increa...Halide perovskite single crystals(HPSCs)provide a unique platform to study the optoelectronic properties of such emerging semiconductor materials,while the temperature induced crystal growth method often has an increased solute integration speed and/or unavoidable solute consumption,resulting in a soaring or slumping crystal growth rate of HPSCs.Here,we developed a universal and facile solvent-vola tilization-limited-growth(SVG)strategy to finely control the crystal growth rate by the fine-control-valve for high quality crystal grown through solution processes.The grown HPSCs by SVG method exhibited a record low trap density of 2.8×10^(8)cm^(-3)and a high charge carrier mobility-lifetime product(μτproduct)of 0.021 cm2/V,indicating the excellent crystal quality.The crystal surface defects were further passivated by oxygen suppliers as Lewis base,which led to a reduction of surface leakage current by two times when using for low dose rate X-ray detection.Such HPSC X-ray detector displayed a high sensitivity of 1274μC/(Gyair cm^(2))with a lowest detectable dose rate of 0.56μGyair/s under 120 keV hard X-ray.Further applications including alloy composition analysis and metal flaw detection by HPSC detectors were also demonstrated,which not only shows the bright future for product quality inspection and non-destructive materials analysis,but also paves the way for growing high quality single crystals and fabricating polycrystalline films.展开更多
