Although due to its qualitative, sub- jective and experience-based nature, ultrasound image interpretation can be influenced by image conditions such as scanning frequency and machine settings. In this paper, a novel method is proposed to extract the liver features using the joint features of fractal dimension and the entropies of texture edge co-occurrence matrix based on ultrasound images, which is not sensitive to changes in emission frequency and gain. Then, Fisher linear classifier and support vector machine are employed to test a group of 99 in-vivo liver fibrosis images from 18 patients, as well as other 273 liver images from 18 normal human volunteers. 展开更多

Effects of H pylori infection on gap-junctional intercellular communication and proliferation of gastric epithelial cells in vitro 被引量:8

METHODS: A human gastric epithelial cell line (SGC- 7... AIM: To explore the effects of H pylori infection on gap-junctional intercellular communication (GJIC) and proliferation of gastric epithelial cells in vitro. METHODS: A human gastric epithelial cell line (SGC- 7901) cultured on coverslips was exposed overnight to intact H pylori (CagA^+ or CagA^- strains) and sonicated extracts, respectively. GJIC between the cells was detected by fluorescence redistribution after photobleaching (FRAP) technique. Proliferation of SGC cells was determined by methylthiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) assay. RESULTS: When compared with control in which cells were cultured with simple medium alone, both CagA^+ and CagA^- H pylori isolates could inhibit GJIC (CagA^+: F = 57.98, P 〈 0.01; CagA^-: F = 29.59, P 〈 0.01) and proliferation (CagA^+: F = 42.65, P 〈 0.01; CagA^-: F = 58.14, P 〈 0.01) of SGC-7901 cells. Compared with CagA^- strains, CagA^+ H pylori more significantly downregulated GJIC of gastric cells (intact Hpylori: t = 13.86, P 〈 0.01; sonicated extracts: t = 11.87, P 〈 0.01) and inhibited proliferation gastric cells to a lesser extent in vitro (intact H pylori: t = 3.06, P 〈 0.05; sonicated extracts: t = 3.94, P 〈 0.01). CONCLUSION: Compared with CagA^- H pylori strains, CagA^+ strains down-regulate GJIC of gastric epithelial cells more significantly and inhibit proliferation of gastric cells to a lesser extent in vitro. H pylori, especially CagA^+ strains, may play an important role in gastric carcinogenesis. 展开更多

Nonlinear characteristic fault detection and diagnosis method based on higher-order statistical(HOS) is an effective data-driven method, but the calculation costs much for a large-scale process control system. An HOS-ISM fault diagnosis framework combining interpretative structural model(ISM) and HOS is proposed:(1) the adjacency matrix is determined by partial correlation coefficient;(2) the modified adjacency matrix is defined by directed graph with prior knowledge of process piping and instrument diagram;(3) interpretative structural for large-scale process control system is built by this ISM method; and(4) non-Gaussianity index, nonlinearity index, and total nonlinearity index are calculated dynamically based on interpretative structural to effectively eliminate uncertainty of the nonlinear characteristic diagnostic method with reasonable sampling period and data window. The proposed HOS-ISM fault diagnosis framework is verified by the Tennessee Eastman process and presents improvement for highly non-linear characteristic for selected fault cases. 展开更多

AIM:To assess the clinical role of monoclonal immunoscintigraphy for the detection of metastasis and recurrence of colorectal cancer.METHODS:Monoclonal immunoscintigraphy was performed in patients operated on for colorectal adenocar-cinoma suspected of local recurrence and metastatic disease.The results were compared with conventional diagnostics.RESULTS:Immunoscintigraphic investigation was done in 53 patients.Tumor recurrence occurred in 38 patients,and was confirmed by other diagnostic modalities in 35.In 15 patients,immunoscintigraphic findings were negative,and confirmed in 14 with other diagnostic methods.Comparative analysis confirmed good correlation of immunoscintigraphic findings and the results of conventional diagnostics and the level of tumor marker carcinoembryonic antigen.Statistical analysis of parameters of radiopharmaceutical groups imacis,indimacis and oncoscint presented homogenous characteristics all of three radiopharmaceuticals.The analysis of immunoscintigraphic target focus was clearly improved using tomography.CONCLUSION:Immunoscintigraphy is highly specific and has a good predictive value in local recurrence of colorectal cancer. 展开更多

The establishment of highly sensitive diagnostic methods is critical in the early diagnosis and control of Zika virus(ZIKV)and in preventing serious neurological complications of ZIKV infection. In this study, we established micro-droplet digital polymerase chain reaction(ddPCR) and real-time quantitative PCR(RT-qPCR) protocols for the detection of ZIKV based on the amplification of the NS5 gene. For the ZIKV standard plasmid, the RT-qPCR results showed that the cycle threshold(Ct) value was linear from 10~1 to 10~8 copy/l L, with a standard curve R^2 of 0.999 and amplification efficiency of 92.203%;however, a concentration as low as 1 copy/l L could not be detected. In comparison with RT-qPCR, the dd PCR method resulted in a linear range of 10~1–10~4 copy/l L and was able to detect concentrations as low as 1 copy/l L. Thus, for detecting ZIKV from clinical samples, RT-qPCR is a better choice for high-concentration samples(above 10~1 copy/l L),while ddPCR has excellent accuracy and sensitivity for low-concentration samples. These results indicate that the ddPCR method should be of considerable use in the early diagnosis, laboratory study, and monitoring of ZIKV. 展开更多
