A new photodetector--bipolar junction photogate transistor is presented for CMOS image sensor and its analytical model is also established.With the technical parameter of the 0.6μm CMOS process,the bipolar junction photogate transistor is analyzed and simulated.The simulated results illustrate that the bipolar junction photogate transistor has the similar characteristics of the traditional photogate transistor.The photocurrent density of the bipolar junction photogate transistor increases exponentially with the incidence light power due to introducing the injection p+n junction.Its characteristic of blue response is rather improved compared to the traditional photogate transistor that benefits to increase the color photograph made up of the red,the green,and the blue. 展开更多

The analysis of sucrose esters with long acyl chain by improved high performance liquid chromatographic method with evaporative light scattering detection (HPLC-ELSD) and electrospray ionization mass spectrum (ESI-MS) is investigated. The improved HPLC-ELSD method for the separation and quantitation of commercial and synthesized sucrose esters is described. Samples are analyzed by means of a reversed-phase (RP) HPLC using a Hypersil C8 column (250 mm× 4.6 mm, 5 μm particle size) with methanol-tetrahydrofuran (vo)ume ratio of 90 : 10) and water under gradientcondition as the mobile phase, in which the flow rate is 1.0 ml·min^-1 and the column temperature is set at 40℃. This procedure provides a complete separation and determination ot monoester, diester, triester and higher esters with different acyl chain lengths in each fraction by a single run, in combination with the ESI-MS technology. With this method, it is possible to determine the approximate compositions of monoto polyesters in one analysis and quantitate pure positional isomers precisely using an external standard method. It is found that the method of ESI-MS coupling with HPLC system for the analysis of sucrose esters is straight forward, rapid and inexpensive, and can be readily applied in synthesis, purification and structure studies. 展开更多

Text embedded in images is one of many important cues for indexing and retrieval of images and videos. In the paper, we present a novel method of detecting text aligned either horizontally or vertically, in which a pyramid structure is used to represent an image and the features of the text are extracted using SUSAN edge detector. Text regions at each level of the pyramid are identified according to the autocorrelation analysis. New techniques are introduced to split the text regions into basic ones and merge them into text lines. By evaluating the method on a set of images, we obtain a very good performance of text detection. 展开更多

In nanoscale technology, transistor aging is one of the most critical problems that impact on the reliability of circuits. Aging sensor is a good online way to detect the circuit aging, which performs during the operating time with no influence of the normal operation of circuits. In this paper, a Dou- ble-edge-triggered Detection Sensor for circuit Aging (DSDA) is proposed, which employs data signal of logic circuits as its clock to control the sampling process. The simulation is done by Hspice using 45 nm technology. The results show that this technique is not case of the detection precision is more than 80% under aging fault effectively with the 8% power cost and 30% sensitive to the process variations. For the conventional single-ended eFuse cell, sensing failures can occur due to a variation of a post-program eFuse resistance during the data retention time and a relatively high program resistance of several kilo ohms. A differential paired eFuse cell is designed which is about half the size smaller in sensing resistance of a programmed eFuse link than the conventional single-ended eFuse cell. Also, a sensing circuit of sense amplifier is proposed, based on D flip-flop structure to implement a simple sensing circuit. Furthermore, a sensing margin test circuit is proposed with variable pull-up loads out of consideration for resistance variation of a programmed eFuse. When an 8 bit eFuse OTP IP is designed with 0.18 ~tm standard CMOS logic of TSMC, the layout dimensions are 229.04 μm ×100.15μm. All the chips function successfully when 20 test chips are tested with a program voltage of 4.2 V. 展开更多

Quadrant photodetector is a new type position detector, which has already been applied to many fields such as measurement, target tracking, control, laser collimation, guidance, etc. System performance is related to laser spot area received by the quadrant photodetector. The optimum linear output signal of system is gotten only when the size of laser dispersion spot is well-proportioned to the detector photosensitive area. A method to measure the mini-spot received by detector and to adjust it in real time is presented, which is based on the quadrant geometrical and optical structure, making use of tilting mirror scanning, the sequence output signal of detector is gotten, then measurement model is built with rate of signal change as characteristic variable, the radius of the laser dispersion spot and adjustable value of dispersion are calculated. The experiment result shows that the maximum error is 0.58μm in measurement range of 0.5mm±0.1mm. 展开更多

A precise two-degree-of-freedom measuring system (2DMS) is developed based on single-mode optical fiber, LD, cube corner retroreflector and four-quadrant photodetector (4-Q), and the simultaneous on-line measurement of lateral and vertical direction straightness errors of the linear stage is carried out. The moving part is wireless, which eliminates any errors introduced by pushing and pulling the wires. The sensitivity of the straightness error measurement can be improved by a factor of 2 with the cube corner retroreflector. This fiber-based optically aligned beam is used to establish a reference line for the straightness measurement of any mechanical system. 4-Q detector is used to receive the laser beam. A chip microcomputer is developed to conduct all data acquisition and signal processing. The beam drift influence can be removed in the greatest extent from the system. The experiments on the measurement system stability, repeatability and its comparison with the HP5528 double-frequency laser interferometer are carried out. 展开更多

Partial discharge detection in power transformers is discussed using a new approach that exploit the broad band of the Rogowski coils and the potential of two signal processing tools: discrete wavelet transform and empirical mode decomposition. Detecting and analyzing incipient activities of partial discharge can provide useful information to diagnostics and prognostics about transformer insulation. So, partial discharge signals embedded in the electric current at ground conductor are measured using the Rogowski coil. These signals are submitted to noise suppression and the partial discharges waveforms are extracted through different ways: using discrete wavelet transform and using empirical mode decomposition. The comparison of these two methods show that the extraction with discrete wavelet transform results in a faster and simpler algorithm than the empirical mode decomposition. But this one produces more precise waveforms due its adaptive characteristic. 展开更多

Reliable spectrum sensing is a crucial task of the CR. For energy de- tection, threshold will determine the probability of detection (Pd) and the probability of false alarm Pf at the same time. While the threshold increases, Pd and Pf will both decrease. In this paper we focus on the maximum of the difference of Pd and Pf, and try to find out how to determine the threshold with this precondition. The qualitative and quantitative assessment of gas flow has become increasingly relevant in the use of everyday systems. The micro flow sensor, developed by Innovative Sensor Technology AG (Switzerland), is by principle a calorimetric flow sensor produced as a micro system on a glass substrate by means of photolithography and glass etching technology. These structures are arranged as a platinum micro heater and sensor in a Wheatstone bridge. The subsequent etching process produces an exposed area of polyimide membrane that is only a few microns thick and includes the resistive sensor structure as the active area. In addition, the RTD (resistance temperature detector) technology included on the sensor allows for the implementation of a variety of electronic biasing and signal processing modes. Since the sensor can be powered and the bridge can be measured in both CTA (constant temperature anemometer) and calorimetric mode, new possibilities are presented for both low and high flow rates with regard to temperature compensation, self-calibration and self-monitoring. 展开更多

In South Africa, electricity is supplied through thousands-of-kilometers of overhead power cables, which is owned by Eskom the national energy supplier. Currently monitoring of these overhead power cables are done by means of helicopter inspection flights and foot patrols, which are infrequent and expensive. In this paper, the authors present the design of a prototype power line crawler (inspection robot) for the monitoring of these overhead power lines in South Africa. The designed prototype power line crawler is capable of driving on the wire, balancing on the wire and is capable of maneuvering past certain obstacles found on the overhead power cables. The prototype power line crawler is designed to host a monitoring system that monitors the power line as the inspection robot drives on it. Various experimental tests were performed and are presented in this paper, showing the capability of performing these tasks. This prototype inspection robot ensures a platform for future development in this area. 展开更多

Differential electrolytic potentiometry (DEP) was coupled with Flow injection analysis (FIA) technique for the determination of Procainamide in pharmaceutical preparations. Platinum electrodes were used as an indicating system to follow the oxidation of Procainamide with cerium(IV), and permanganate in an acidic medium. The oxidation reactions of Procainamide with Ce(IV) and/or permanganate are fast enough to permit its determination by flow injection in sulfuric acid media. The univariate method was employed to optimize the variables such as the current density, the flow rate, the oxidant concentration and the concentration of sulfuric acid. The proposed method was linear in the range 20-100 μg.mL^-1 , the DL and R2 values were 12 μg.mL^-1 and 0.995 respectively. The procedure was applied successfully to the determination of Procainamide in commercial tablets. The results of this study were favorably compared statistically with those obtained with official methods. 展开更多

In this paper, the climbing obstacle capability of the previous special cable inspection robot ( Model Number: XS1T-1) is analyzed. Static equations are established to analyze the relationships between the external forces and the maximum height of an obstacle. Parameters affecting the obstacle crossing ability are obtained. According to the analysis results, an innovated small volume, simple structure and light weight climbing mechanism is proposed (Model Number: XS1T-2). A simplified kinematics model of the mechanism is established. With two powered wheels, the obstacle crossing ability of the XSIT-2 is improved apparently. For the robot moving without deflection, the relationships of two powered input torques are deduced. The comparison of the simulation results clearly shows that the climbing ability of XS1T-2 is obviously improved, and it can meet the demands of inspection. 展开更多

In general, every system is in one of the three states: normal, abnormal, or failure state. When the system is diagnosed as abnormal state, it needs predictive maintenance, lfthe system fails, an identical new one will replace it. The predictive maintenance cannot make the system "as good as new". Under these assumptions, the reliability index and the inspection-replacement policy of a system were studied. The explicit expression of the reliability index and the average income rate (i.e., the long-run average income per unit time) are derived by using probability analysis and vector Markov process method. The criterion of feasibility for the optimal inspection-replacement policy under the maximum average income rate is obtained. The numerical example shows the optimal inspection-replacement policy can raise the average income rate when the optimal inspection-replacement policy is feasible. 展开更多

MKL (Multiple Kernel Learning) is applied so that multimodality of videos can be maximized. The largest features of our system is that mid-level concepts clustering is proposed and implemented in order to learn mid-level concepts implicitly. By this algorithm, our system does not need manually tagged annotations. The whole system is trained on the dataset from MediaEval 2013 Affect Task and evaluated by its official metric.
