Using virtual reality for interactive design gives a designer an intuitive vision of a design and allows the designer to achieve a viable, optimal solution in a timely manner. The article discusses the process of making the Virtual Reality System of the Humble Administrator’s Garden. Translating building data to the Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) is by far unsatisfactory. This creates a challenge for computer designers to do optimization to meet requirements. Five different approaches to optimize models have been presented in this paper. The other methods are to optimize VRML and to reduce the file size. This is done by keeping polygon counts to a minimum and by applying such techniques as object culling and level-of- detail switching. 展开更多

According to the virtual reality technology-based method the technology of composition of the virtual model of a manipulator and its positions in the working process are described in details. This virtual model is used for composition the video clip, simulating the motion of novel manipulator, which three points are moving along two lines and one curve. The results obtained and the computer program realizing the virtual reality technology-based study of the working process of the virtual manipulators for stone protectors can be used by designers of stone protectors for soil tillage implements. 展开更多

Augmented Reality Applied to Building Assessment with Building Information Model Visualization

AR (augmented reality) is a technology that adds information to the real world adding virtual elements to its visualization in real time. AR used in AECO (architectural, engineering, construction and operations) can contribute in augmenting visualization during design, construction and operation of the buildings. This article presents a study that applies AR to building assessment with BIM (building information) model visualization. The use of AR on existing applications for smart phones and tablets is validated. AR proposed an adaptation of the method of POE (post-occupancy evaluation) subsidized. Traditional POE process model involves three phases: planning, conducting and applying. In order to incorporate AR, it is proposed a total restructuring of the planning phase, developing the research instruments in three steps: 3D modeling, model treatment and AR application development. It was observed that for POE studies, the 3D models are in large scale and need to be detailed for precise comparison. BIM models for facility management, representing building use situation, are of the highest level of detail. A balanced point between simplicity and representativeness was the solution adopted in this experiment for uploading and downloading performance issues. This article presents and discusses findings for the new proposition for the activity of research instruments development for the planning phase of POE with AR as well as initial tests with first results and difficulties faced. 展开更多

The article presents a fragment of research and development, which objective was to develop technical tools and methodology to improve exploitation processes of energy systems. The author's model includes synergy of artificial intelligence and augmented reality. This solution, which combines modem technologies in order to improve the activities related to the continuity of energy supply, and reduce costs associated with the time needed to carry out exploitation activities and employment of qualified staff, is presented. This paper presents both theoretical foundations as well as the development of technical systems. The characteristics of exploitation processes of energy systems and possible technical conditions, as well as factors characterizing them, are discussed. The physical and software structures of the system and individual modules, as well as dependencies connecting them are demonstrated. The dependencies between physical and logical elements during the exploitation processes of energy systems, that determine decisions related to the evaluation of technical states and related activities are described. The advantages and limitations of the developed model which connects methods of data processing and analysis, interactive visualization processes and possible areas of application are as well discussed in detailed. 展开更多

原始创新作为当今世界科技竞争的制高点一直受到广泛关注,然而学术界与实践界对这一概念属性及实现机理却语焉不详。研究运用复杂系统观,以研究型大学服务国家战略工程,牵头研制长鹰无人机的过程为案例对象开展研究,有两点结论:(1)原始... 原始创新作为当今世界科技竞争的制高点一直受到广泛关注,然而学术界与实践界对这一概念属性及实现机理却语焉不详。研究运用复杂系统观,以研究型大学服务国家战略工程,牵头研制长鹰无人机的过程为案例对象开展研究,有两点结论:(1)原始创新体现为从基础研究到原创的新产品开发平台的研制过程,具有架构原创性、系统突破性、平台基础性三大特征。(2)国家需求与技术实现双驱动原始创新的实现,即:一方面由兼具战略性与技术专业性的使用总体单位,将国家需求转化为可操作性的国家战略工程项目。另一方面,研究型大学作为研制总体单位,通过对内举校之力、对外协同创新的方式,把国家战略工程项目转化为首创的新产品开发平台。需求与技术相互依存、互为根本,共同驱动原始创新的实现。 展开更多
