To obtain the optimal technical parameters, such as cuttingheight and drum diameter, a virtual longwall mining procedure was modelled by simulating the actual fully mechanized longwall mining process. Based on the above work, a bauxite deposit in a longwall mining panel was modelled by scattered grade data from ores sampled on the entry wall. The deposit was then demarcated by industrial indexes and sliced according to the virtual longwallmining procedure. The results show that the proposed interpolation algorithm can depict the stratiform structure of bauxite depositsand that the uncovered bauxite deposit has high proportions of high-grade and rich ore. The ranges of optimal cutting height and drum diameters are 1.72-2.84 m and 1.42-1.72 m, respectively. Finally, an intellectualized longwall mining procedure was designed to guide the mining process with the lowest dilution and loss rates.展开更多

The full bridge isolated pulse width modulation (PWM) buck converter in continuous conduction mode (CCM) for high watt plasma power supply is approached. Reduced ripple current and improved power factor are achieved in the plasma power supply. With a PID control strategy, circuit responses become more stable and faster with low overshoot during load and current changing. The converter achieved high efficiency under 3 to 15kW load conditions.展开更多

By applying the numerical simulation software - RFPA2D, we have done numerical experiment about the sihstone' s crushing effect by dynamic load on single cutter head without confining pressure, dynamic load on single cut- ter head with confining pressure 10 MPa and different dual-cutter heads spacing by combined dynamic and static loads with confining pressure 10 MPa. Experimental results show that the confining pressure can obviously affect the rock frag- mentation effect. Combined dynamic and static loads can greatly improve the rock fragmentation effect. There exists an optimal spacing of dual-cutter head that can make the rock fragmentation achieve the desired effect. Through analyzing the acoustic emission accumulative energy and quantity, the authors make a conclusion that the optimum spacing is 30 mm.展开更多

First, a cutting parameter acquisition setup is presented and the performance is validated from soft tissue cutting. Then, based on the acquired input-output data pairs, a method for fuzzy system modeling is presented, that is, after partitioning each input space equally and giving the premises and the total number of fuzzy rules, the consequent parameters and the fuzzy membership functions (MF) of the input variables are learned and optimized via a neurofuzzy modeling technique. Finally, a haptic scalpel implemented with the established cutting model is described. Preliminary results show the feasibility of the haptic display system for real-time interaction.展开更多

The effects of different cut velocities and cutting thickness on life-spans of reamers were investigated, and the cutting parameters were optimized to satisfy the cutting precision and cutting efficiency. This in particular applies for manufacturing processes like milling, drilling and turning for high-value turbomachinery components like impellers, combustion engines and compressors of the aerospace and automotive industry as well as energy generation, which play a major role in modern societies. However, numerous analytical and experimental efforts have been conducted in order to understand the thermal conditions in metal cutting, yet many questions still prevail. Most models are based on a stationary point of view and do not include time dependent effects like in intensity and distribution varying heat sources, varying engagement conditions and progressive tool wear. In order to cover such transient physics an analytical approach based on Green's functions for the solution of the partial differential equations of unsteady heat conduction in solids is used to model entire transient temperature fields. The validation of the model is carried out in orthogonal cutting experiments not only punctually but also for entire temperature fields. For these experiments an integrated measurement of prevailing cutting force and temperature fields in the tool and the chip by means of high-speed thermography were applied. The thermal images were analyzed with regard to thermodynamic energy balancing in order to derive the heat partition between tool, chips and workpiece. The thus calculated heat flow into the tool was subsequently used in order to analytically model the transient volumetric temperature fields in the tool. The described methodology enables the modeling of the transient thermal state in the cutting zone and particular in the tool, which is directly linked to phenomena like tool wear and workpiece surface modifications.展开更多
