As the number of parameters increases, the converted wave data processing and analysis becomes more complex. This paper develops a new moveout equation with two parameters for C-waves in vertical transverse isotropy (VTI) media. The two parameters are the C-wave stacking velocity (Vc2) and the squared velocity ratio (7v,i) between the horizontal P-wave velocity and C-wave stacking velocity. The new equation has fewer parameters, but retains the same applicability as previous ones. The applicability of the new equation and the accuracy of the parameter estimation are checked using model and real data. The form of the new equation is the same as that for layered isotropic media. The new equation can simplify the procedure for C-wave processing and parameter estimation in VTI media, and can be applied to real C-wave processing and interpretation. Accurate Vc2 and Yvti can be deduced from C-wave data alone using the double-scanning method, and the velocity ratio model is suitable for event matching between P- and C-wave data.展开更多

According to the study in a larch plantation, collars should be inserted at 12 hours in advance to efficiently reduce the influence of CO2 spring-out.Moreover, collar insertion depth substantially affected soil respiration measurement, i.e. when collar was shallowly inserted into soil, transversal gas diffusion and the CO2 re-spring-out caused by unstable collars in the measurement could lead to overestimating soil respiration rate; however, when collar was deeply inserted into soil, root respiration decline caused by root-cut and the most active respiratory of the surface soil separated by the inserted collars could lead to underestimating soil respiration rate. Furthermore, an error less than 5% could be guaranteed in typical sunny day if the target [CO2] was set to the mean value of ambient [CO2] in most time of the day, but it should be carefully set in early morning and late afternoon according to changing ambient [CO2]. This protocol of measurement is useful in real measurement.展开更多

By introducing the Winkler foundation theory, the mechanical model of piles-soils-slopes system was established, and the equilibrium differential equations of pile were derived. Moreover, an analytic solution for identifying the model parameters was provided by means of power series method. A project with field measurement was compared with the proposed method. It is indicated that the lateral loads have great influences on the pile, the steep slope effect is indispensable, and reasonable diameter of the pile could enhance the bending ability. The internal force and displacements of pile are largely based upon the horizontal loads applied on pile, especially in upper part.展开更多

Initially, equations governing composite structures are extracted based on Kirchhoff sheet model under bending using Hamilton's principal. Then, design parameters for the composite structure are extracted with simple supportive boundary conditions from proposed solution. Next, optimization is achieved by determining dimensions of a reinforced sheet specimen. Weight optimization of reinforced sheet structure has been obtained based on variations in thickness and number of longitudinal and transverse reinforcements. Buckling static characteristic is utilized in optimization process. To solve the extracted equations, semi-analytical method of CS-DSG3 has been applied. Results are presented in graphs that show variation of design parameters by changing the geometric parameters. ABAQUS software has been used for design verification. The results show that an increase in thickness of 3 mm skip value tends to be zero. Also, there is a change in the amount of deflection for sheets with a minimum thickness of 3 mm by increasing the number of longitudinal and transverse reinforcement. There is a good agreement between the numerical method of finite elements and the method X-FEM-DSG3.展开更多
