The propertie...In order to obtain the optimized structure rubber, a novel miktoarm star styrene-butadiene rubber (MS- SBR) was initiated by a multifunctional macromolecular initiator with polydiene arm and Sn-C bond. The properties of MS-SBR were investigated with respect to the morphology, mechanical properties, and dynamic viscoelasticity in comparison with those of the blends, natural rubber (NR)/star styrene-butadiene random rubber (S-SBR) blend rubber and cis-l,4-polybutadiene rubber (cis-BR)/S-SBR blend rubber. The samples were analyzed using transmission elec- tron microscopy (TEM), dynamic mechanical thermal analyzer (DMTA), and mechanical properties test. The analy- sis results show that MS-SBR possesses the desired combination of low rolling resistance and high antiskid resistance, and is promising for application in high performance tire tread.展开更多

The isolated building is numerically mode...Investigation of seismic performance of buildings with STRP (scrap tire rubber pad) seismic isolators by means of pseudo-dynamic tests and numerical simulation is presented. The isolated building is numerically modeled, while the base isolation layer is considered as the experimental substructure in the pseudo-dynamic tests. The test result verifies that the STRP isolator shows acceptable shear deformation performance predicted by the design methods, and demonstrated that seismic isolation using STRP works as a protective measure to provide enhanced seismic performance of the building indicated by the reduction of top floor absolute acceleration, drift and base shear as designated.展开更多
In order to evaluate the ride quality of the soil compactor cab supplemented by the auxiliary hydraulic mounts (AHM), a nonlinear dynamic model of the soil compactor interacting with the off-road deformable terrain is...In order to evaluate the ride quality of the soil compactor cab supplemented by the auxiliary hydraulic mounts (AHM), a nonlinear dynamic model of the soil compactor interacting with the off-road deformable terrain is established based on Matlab/Simulink sofware. The power spectral density (PSD) and the weighted root mean square (RMS) of acceleration responses of the vertical driver s seat, the cab s pitch and roll angle are chosen as objective functions in low-frequency range. Experimental investigation is also used to verify the accuracy of the model. The influence of the damping coefficients of the AHM on the cab s ride quality is analyzed, and damping coefficients are then optimized via a genetic algorithm program. The research results show that the cab s rubber mounts added by the AHM clearly improve the ride quality under various operating conditions. Particularly, with the optimal damping coefficients of the front-end mounts c a 1,2 = 1 500 N · s/m and of the rear-end mounts c a 3,4 =2 335 N · s/m, the weighted RMS values of the driver s seat, the cab s pitch and roll angle are reduced by 22.2%, 18.8%, 58.7%, respectively. Under the condition of the vehicle travelling, with the optimal damping coefficients of c a 1,2 = 1 500 N · s/m and c a 3,4 =1 882 N · s/m, the maximum PSD values of the driver s seat, the cab s pitch and roll angle are clearly decreased by 36.7%, 54.7% and 50.6% under the condition of the vehicle working.展开更多

The amount of ...The mechanical properties, thermal and gasohol resistance of the natural zeolite, rice husk ash (RHA) and perlite-filled natural rubber (NR) with addition of carbon black (CB) loading was studied. The amount of fillers (natural zeolite, RHA and perlite) filled in the vulcanizates has been fixed at 20 phr, while CB loading was varied in a range of 0-45 phr. It was found that the tensile strength, percentage of elongation at break, modulus and hardness of the vulcanizates filled with all kinds of fillers increased with the increase of CB loading, while there was no significant change in the compression set. Moreover, at this particular filler loading (20 phr), the addition of perlite has significant effect on gasohol resistance of the vulcanizates in which gasohol resistance (various ethanol ratio) of the vulcanizates was significantly improved with perlite loading compared with others.展开更多
