This paper built the throttling test apparatus for nice test MO plates, which were designed according to orthogonal theory. The experiments were conducted to investigate the effect of three critical geometerical parameters on the pressure loss coefficient of test MOs. Results show that equivalent diameter ratio is the dominant prameter affecting MO throttling characterstic.展开更多
Due to the current trend towards lightweight design in automotive industry,hollow stepped gear shafts for automobile and its radial forging process are widely investigated.Utilizing coupled finite element thermo-mecha...Due to the current trend towards lightweight design in automotive industry,hollow stepped gear shafts for automobile and its radial forging process are widely investigated.Utilizing coupled finite element thermo-mechanical model,radial forging process of a hollow stepped gear shaft for automobile was simulated.The optimal combination of three process parameters including initial temperature,rotation rate and radial reduction was also selected using orthogonal design method.To examine the strain inhomogeneity of the forging workpiece,the strain inhomogeneity factor was introduced.The results reveal that the maximum effective strain and the minimum effective strain appeared in the outermost and innermost zones of different cross sections for the hollow stepped gear shaft,respectively.Optimal forging parameters are determined as a combination of initial temperature of 780°C,rotation rate of 21°/stroke and radial reduction of 3 mm.展开更多

In practical engineering, it is difficult to ensure that the designed pre-stresses of cables have been exactly introduced into the structures in the site; so it is necessary to evaluate the influence of the variation of the pre-stresses on the structural behavior. In the present work, an orthogonal design method was employed to investigate the pre-stressed cables' sensitivity to the suspen-dome system. The investigation was concentrated on a Kiewitt suspen-dome. Parametric studies were carried out to study the sensitivity of the structure's static behavior, dynamic behavior, and buckling loads when the pre-stresses in the cables varied. The investigation indicated that suspen-dome structures are sensitive to the pre-stresses in all cables; and that the sensitivity depended on the location of the cables and the kind of structural behavior. Useful suggestions are given at the end of the paper.展开更多
The plasma-MIG welding torch was developed.5A06 aluminum alloys with V-grooves were welded in a single pass in the plasma-MIG welding process and the joints were examined by X-ray diffractometry analysis and mechanica...The plasma-MIG welding torch was developed.5A06 aluminum alloys with V-grooves were welded in a single pass in the plasma-MIG welding process and the joints were examined by X-ray diffractometry analysis and mechanical tests.The orthogonal experimental design was used to study the influence of plasma-MIG welding parameters on the aluminum weld porosity.The mixed orthogonal matrix L16(4 4×2 3) and analysis of variance (ANOVA)technique were employed to optimize the welding parameters.The experimental results indicate that the effect of plasma gas flow rate is dominant,the secondary factors are MIG welding voltage,welding speed,wire feed rate and plasma current in turn.Confirmation experiments were conducted under optimum conditions and there was almost no porosity in the welded joints,thus good mechanical performance joints were obtained.展开更多
