Methods: Thirty-one children with class In malocclusion were investigated and their perioral forces were measured at rest and during swallowing under natural head position by a custom-made miniperioral force computer measuring system. Results: The resting pressures exerted on the labial side and palatine side of the upper lett incisor, as well as the labial side and lingual side of the lower lett incisor, were 0 g/cm^2, 0 g/cm^2, 0.57 g/cm^2 and 0.23 g/cm^2, respectively. Correspondingly, the swallowing forces were 2.87 g/cm^2, 5.97 g/cm^2, 4.09 g/cm^2 and 7.89 g/cm^2, respectively. No statistical difference between muscular pressure and gender existed. During swallowing, the lingual forces were significantly higher than the labial forces (P〈0.01), however, at rest there was no significantly different force between these two sides. Compared to the normal occlusion patients, children with class Ⅲ malocclusion had lower pedoral forces. The upper labial resting forces (P〈0.01), the lower labial resting forces (P〈0.05) and all the swallowing pressures from the lips and the tongue (P〈0.01) showed statistical differences between the two different occlusion conditions. Meanwhile, no significant difference was found for the resting pressure from the tongue between class Ⅲ malocclusion and normal occlusion. Conclusion: Patients with class Ⅲ malocclusion have lower perioral forces and this muscle hypofunction may be secondary to the spatial relations of the jaws. The findings support the spatial matrix hypothesis.展开更多

The distortion caused by residual stresses in thick pre-stretched aluminum plates during machining integrated parts is a common and serious problem. To predict and control the machining distortion, the residual stress distribution in the thick plate must be measured firstly. The modified removal method for measuring residual stress in thick pre-stretched aluminum plates is proposed and the stress-strain relation matrix is deduced by elasticity theory. The residual stress distribution in specimen of 7050T7451 plate is measured by using the method, and measurement results are analyzed and compared with data obtained by other methods. The method is effective to measure the residual stress.展开更多

Vapor-liquid equilibria of mixtures were calculated by original and modified SRK equation of state combined with MHV1 mixing rule and UNIFAC model, respectively. For 1447 saturated pressure points of 37 substance including alkanes; organics containing chlorine, fluorine, and oxygen; inorganic gases and water, the original SRK equation of state predicted pressure with an average deviation of 2.521% and modified one 1.673%. Binary vapor-liquid equilibria of alcohols containing mixtures and water containing mixtures also indicated that the SRK equation of state with the modified a had a better precision than that with the original one.展开更多

This method can accurately measure the dependence of series resistance, junction capacitance, junction vol- tage, ideality factor, and interfacial layer impedance on forward biases. The measurements confirm that the ne- gative capacitance (NC) of Schottky diode is an effect of the junction, and the interfacial layer can be consi- dered as a layer structure with nonlinear resistance and capacitance.展开更多

Based on the results of the research project on the minimum air clearance for 800-kV HVDC substations at high altitudes, and also on the monthly and yearly statistics of the atmospheric data of last ten years and the altitude correction of the atmospheric data of last ten years, the altitude correction of the air-gaps for the 800-kV DC system under plan, 500-kV AC system to be built, and 1000-kV AC system under plan in the Inner Mongolia Plateau and the Yungui Plateau in China were studied with parameter G method. Correction factors for switching and lightning impulses were calculatod and then compared with those achieved according to IEC 71. It is shown that IEC 71 is appropriate for damp regions, and correction factors differ between plateau regions in China because of different atmospheric conditions.展开更多

An basic introduction to reactive power theory has been given, together with the optimal capacitance selection theory. There have been presented selected theories application in order to compensate the reactive power in one-phase circuits. The measurement results before the compensation have been discussed and measurement results after compensation of an actual object supplied from an non-sinusoidal voltage source were presented. The algorithms of optimal capacity selection were given, which connected in parallel to the circuit with inductive character will cause current root-mean-square value minimization. The measurement results after applying the reactive power minimization algorithm have shown improvement in compensation of strongly nonlinear receivers supplied with distorted signals.展开更多

A new phenomenological model, described by a sine-function equation, is proposed to define the relationship between flow stress and deformation parameters. A series of isothermal compressions for a carbon steel were carried out, as a case study, to obtain basic experimental data.Parameters of the new model were sequentially determined. The predicted results of the proposed model were compared with actual measured data. Good accuracy was found in the standard statistical parameters of correlation coefficient, root mean square error, and average absolute relative error with the values of 0.935, 7.137 MPa and 4.352%, respectively. Discussion of applications of different models in finite-element simulation demonstrated the benefit of the new model. When comparing the simulation results of three different deformation patterns with large strain, the new model showed 10%–20% lower predicted forming load than the original Arrhenius equation, and better applicability and reliability than modified Arrhenius equations.展开更多
