Seasonal variations in the nitrogen isotopic composition of dissolved nitrate (δ15NO3) were investigated in the surface waters of the Changjiang River estuary in 2009 and 2010. δ15NO3 varied between -4.6‰ and 8.9%0 with changes in temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen concentrations, and the composition of the dissolved inorganic nitrogen pool. In February, biological processes decreased because of low temperature, and the mean δ15NO3 near the river mouth was 2.4%0. In May, δ15NO3 was the highest in the surface waters among all seasons. Analysis on the conservative mixing revealed assimilation, and this finding is supported by positive relationship between Chl a and δ15NO3. The fractionation factor of assimilation was estimated to be 2.0‰ by the Rayleigh equation. Nitrification was supported based on the mixing behaviors in November 2010 and the low δ15NO3 values in May and November 2009. The high ammonium concentrations in the adjacent marine area and positive relationships between total organic nitrogen and δ15NO3 in November 2010 indicated that mineralization was taking place. 展开更多

Different from the integral form, the derivative form of the surface expression published in this paper is derived from differential equation and based on the theory of non-imaging focusing heliostat proposed by Chen et al. in 2001. Bi(Fe1-xMnx)O3 bulk ceramics with Mn concentration x up to 0.3 were prepared by rapid sintering using sol-gel derived fine powders. Structure transformation is found to depend on the Mn doping concentration by X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. Bi(Fe1-xMnx)O3 maintains the rhombohedral structure of BiFeO3 with x=0.05 and 0.1, but changes to the orthorhombic structure with x=0.3. Weak ferromagnetism is observed for Bi(Fe1-xMnx)O3 with x=0.05 and 0.1, but stronger paramagnetism is observed for Bi(Fe1-xMnx)O3 with x=0.3 indicating a magnetic phase change from antiferromagnetic to paramagnetic with the structure changing from R3c to C222. Two anomalies at 30 and 140 K are observed for Bi(Fe1-xMnx)O3 with x=0.05 and 0.1. The anomaly at 30 K is concluded to be related to the freezing of cluster spin glass from dc magnetic memory and relaxation measurements. 展开更多

Reliability-based service life prediction of existing concrete structures under marine environment 被引量:1

Chloride-induced corrosion of the reinforcement is considered as one of the major mechanisms resulting in the reduction of structural resistance of reinforced concrete structural elements located in marine and other aggressive environments. A study of reinforced concrete structures located at the Fangcheng dock in the Beibu Gulf port, China, was present. The result from field survey indicates that the concrete cover depth and chloride diffusion coefficient fit best normal distribution and lognormal distribution, respectively. The service life of structure is about 55 a, while initiation time is 45 a. Sensitivity analysis indicates that the most influential factor of the structure service life prediction is concrete cover, followed by diffusion coefficient, diffusion decay index, critical chloride concentration, surface chloride concentration, current density and localized pitting corrosion. Finally, the effects of diffusion decay index and critical chloride concentration on structure service life prediction are discussed. 展开更多

We studied how bioflocculants,produced by white-rot fungi,affect flocculation in slime water.Based on a test in an orthogonal design,flocculation conditions were optimized.The results show that flocculation activity is at its highest when the following conditions are met:slime water concentration 27.42 g/L;coagulant aid(CaCl_2) mass concentration 5.0 g/L;two-segment stirrings:the first at a stirring speed of 60 r/min for 180 s and the second 180 r/min for 60 s;a pH of 11 and a flocculant concentration of 15 mL/L.The flocculation activity can be up to 98.71%of bioflocculants at the time.Further experiments indicate that most of the flocculation active material is found outside the mycelium cells.This is the extracellular secretion produced by mycelium cells during the fermentation process.This flocculant has strong thermal stability.Many kinds of cations have a flocculation function to assist bioflocculants.This aid-flocculation effect of the divalent cation Ca^(2+) is obvious in the bioflocculant produced by the white-rot fungus.Therefore,this is of great value when applied to control engineering in the battle against water pollution. 展开更多

Independent and Combined Effect of Some Soil Tillage Systems on Nitrogen and Carbon Concentration in Soil Structural Units of Haplic Chernozems

This paper aimed at studying the effect of different types of soil tillage systems on the change of total carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) in the soil structural units of different size after dry structural analysis of soil. The research was carried out in a 6-field rotation system (grain maize-wheat-sunflower-wheat-bean-wheat) at the end of the 2nd rotation. Six out of 24 soil tillage systems were selected; they were applied independently and in combination in the crop rotation. After that, they were compared to the system with constant deep plowing. So a total of seven soil tillage systems were investigated. The selected systems for main soil tillage were the following: plowing (control variant), disking, cutting, nil tillage (direct sowing), plowing-disking, plowing-nil tillage, disking-nil tillage. Three depths of 0-10, 10-20 and 20-30 cm were studied, as well as soil structural units were of the following sizes: 〉 10 mm, 10-5, 5-3, 3-1, 1-0.25 mm and 〈 0.25 mm. As a result of systematic implementation of different soil tillage systems, higher N and C concentrations were established by the layers according to constant plowing. Constant disking and its alternation with nil tillage increased the total N concentration with 15.6% and 11.1%, respectively, in comparison with the constant plowing. The same was valid for C concentration in soil, but the highest increase was established in the variants with constant cutting and nil tillage. The exceeding was with 14.0% and 13.2%, in comparison to constant plowing. The redistribution of N and C depending on the structural soil units was most expressed in the 0-10 cm and 10-20 cm layers. The highest amounts of C and N were found in the soil units with size less than 5 mm, mainly in the 〈 0.25 mm fraction. At depth of 20-30 cm, the role of the size of soil structural units for C and N redistribution decreased strongly. The values of C/N ratio were moderate only under the use of constant disking. This index was low under all other soil tillage systems. The correlation of total N with C in soil was high, positive and significant depending on the size of structural soil units and the tillage systems, as average for the investigated factors in this experiment. The minimal tillage and the tillage without turning of soil, used independently and in combination, had the highest contribution to preserving the organic matter in the haplic Chernozems of Dobrudzha region. 展开更多

When X-ray fluorescence (XRF) technology is used to measure the sulfur concentration in coal online, the measurement accu- racy is affected by the coal's uneven surface and the particle size. In order to improve the accuracy of sulfur concentration measurement, an online measurement system, consisting of a portable X-ray fluorescence instrument and an auxiliary distance correction module, was developed in this paper. By measuring the standard coal samples of known sulfur concentration, we obtained a calibration curve that can be used to analyze the sulfur concentration. We studied the relationship between the X-ray fluorescence intensity (I) and the distance (D) from surfaces to instrument. The results showed that there was a good linear re- lationship between 1 and D when the sulfur content was certain. Based on these knowledge, the distance correction formula of X-ray fluorescence intensity was proposed. By applying the distance correction formula to experimental sulfur concentration measurement, we demonstrated that the measurement accuracy can be significantly increased. 展开更多
