If we make line connections the...Abstract:A space-filling polyhedron is a polyhedron which 'tile' space, analogous to the way of certain polygons tiled the plane. The cube is the unique space-filling platonic solid. If we make line connections the center with the vertices in the certain cube, the cube is divided into six pyramids. And if we glued six pyramids to the faces of the cube, we obtain a 'rhombic dodecahedron'. Since cubes are packing a space, rhombic dodecahedra are also space-filling polyhedra and a rhombic dodecahedron is divided into two regular tetrahcdra and one regular octahedron. In this study, we present how rhombic dodecahedron can be split into tetrahedra and octahedron. In this process, we can research a variety of divisions of regular polyhedron.展开更多

Deformation space is affected by compartment packaging. The improvement suggestions are proposed to solve the problems existed in the current vehicle struc- ture and compartment packaging based on the areas that influence performance of automobile offset deformable barrier impact, such as the side rail, mounting, storage battery packaging,etc. It is proved that dO % offset crash simulation result of one certain car is well-correlated with the physical test. Optimization cases meet the crash performance requirements. The objec- tive of the analysis is to guide structural design and improves a car' s crash safety performance.展开更多
Non-cohesive soils have been widely used in construction of high-speed railway for their excellent physical and mechanical properties,and the determination of maximum and minimum dry density of such soils containing o...Non-cohesive soils have been widely used in construction of high-speed railway for their excellent physical and mechanical properties,and the determination of maximum and minimum dry density of such soils containing oversize particles is an important topic.In this study,the influence of oversize particles on dry density of non-cohesive soils is investigated by packing tests.Test results show that oversize particles will make"extra"voids around their surfaces,which increase significantly if the size ratio of oversize material to matrix material is not very big.The dry density of the total material will be overestimated by Elimination Method due to the omission of the"extra"voids.Thus,a geometric model is proposed by which the"extra"voids can be taken into account,and a new oversize correction method for non-cohesive soils is developed.Test results confirm the applicability of this method on the condition of oversize fraction being less than 40%by mass.展开更多
