The mathematical model of PMSM in a stationary αβ reference frame is adopted, and the system is controlled by the digital signal processor ( DSP; TMS320LF2407 according to the control achieve closed loop operation of the motor, the stator theory of sliding mode observer. In order to magnetic field should be vertical with the rotor magnetic field and be synchronous with rotor rotating, so the position and speed of PMSM is estimated in real time and the estimated position is modified continuously. The simulation results indicate that the proposed observer has high precision is more robust to the parametric variation and load in estimation of PMSM position and speed, and torque disturbance.展开更多

Large-scale power system studies found that out-of-step generator groups may have characteristics of the main out-of-step mode and the minor out-of-step mode. The generator groups with main out-of-step modes can determine the out-of-step interface of the large-scale power system,while generators with the minor out-of-step modes cannot play such a role. Therefore,the method of capturing the out-of-step interface by seeking the lowest voltage point(the out-of-step center) can only group the generators with the main out-of-step modes,and may fail to combine the generators with the minor out-of-step modes into proper coherent generator groups. Thus,it is necessary in engineering applications to equip the generators that are likely to have the characteristics of the minor out-of-step modes with separation devices based on off-line simulation studies in order to reduce the risk of further accidents caused by these generators after system separation.展开更多

In the design of the motor used for electric vehicles(EVS),vibration and noise problems are often ignored,which reduce the reliability and service life of the motor.In this paper,an interior permanent magnet synchrono...In the design of the motor used for electric vehicles(EVS),vibration and noise problems are often ignored,which reduce the reliability and service life of the motor.In this paper,an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor(IPMSM)with high power density is taken as an example,and its electromagnetic vibration and noise problem is investigated and optimized.Firstly,the factors that generate the electromagnetic force harmonic of IPMSM are analyzed by theoretical derivation.Furthermore,the mode and electromagnetic harmonic distribution of the motor are calculated and analyzed by establishing the electromagnetic-structure-sound coupling simulation model.Then,by combining finite element method(FEM)with modern optimization algorithm,an electromagnetic vibration and noise performance optimization method is proposed in the electromagnetic design stage of the motor.Finally,an IPMSM is optimized by this method for electromagnetic vibration and noise performance.The results of comparison between before and after optimization prove the feasibility of the method.展开更多

In this paper, a comparative performance of fixed and variable speed wind generators with Pitch angle control has been presented. The first is based on a squirrel cage Induction Generator (IG) of 315 kW rated power, connected directly to the grid. The second incorporated a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) of 750 kW rated power. Through constructing a Lyapunov function, the subsystem of the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor chaotic system could be proved to be globally stable at the equilibrium point. Then a controller with smooth state feedback is designed so that the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor chaotic system can be equivalent to a passive system. To get the state variables of the controller, the nonlinear observer is also studied. It is found that the outputs of the nonlinear observer can approximate the state variables of the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor chaotic system if the system’s nonlinear function is a globally Lipschitz function. Simulation results showed that the equivalent passive system of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor chaotic system could be globally asymptotically stabilized by smooth state feedback in the observed parameter convergence condition area.展开更多

The proposed study has concerned TEFC ( totally Enclosed Fan-Cooled ), 400 V, 50 Hz, SI duty three phase squirrel-cage induction motors only. The motors' designs, with AI and Cu cage, have been optimized in order to reach the minimum efficiency level IE3 at lowest active material costs and satisfy the physical and performance constraints of the designs, which are the motor specifications. A suitable optimization procedure has been used which allowed to find the "best design" by chancing the geometric dimensions of the stator, rotor shape, the stator winding and the stack length. In order to guarantee the goodness and feasibility of the optimized designs, several constrains have been imposed.展开更多

Therefore, it is essential to predict temperattrre distribution in the driving motor. In this paper, a lumped parameter thermal mode/of surface mounted permanent magnet is investigated. By using finite element method, the iron loss distribution in various parts of the driving motor is achieved. Moreover, the influences of interface gap and flow rate on temperature distribution are discussed. Finally, the simulation of temperature distribution in different parts of the driving motor is achieved. The presented methodology contributes to verify the feasibility of the driving motor design.展开更多

Reactive power control from the power network side is si...Reactive power control can control voltage within the proper range from the power network side or from the distribution generation (PV (photovoltaic)) side. Reactive power control from the power network side is simpler because little controlled object apparatus, such as STATCOM, is required. However, it is difficult to optimize the individual voltages of residential consumers because few data have been obtained by the power network side as compared with the power generation side. Energy loss at each residence with PV is different due to the difference in the grid-interconnection condition, such as distribution line impedance when the same operating voltage is set at all residences. Therefore, in this paper, the authors propose an advanced reactive power control method for residential PV systems in order to optimally control the voltage at individual residences so as to minimize energy loss fluctuation. The effectiveness of the proposed reactive power control is demonstrated by numerical simulation.展开更多
To study the influence of skewed rotors and different skew angles on the losses of squirrel cage asynchronous motors,a 5.5-kW motor was taken as an example and the multi-sliced field-circuit coupled time stepping fini...To study the influence of skewed rotors and different skew angles on the losses of squirrel cage asynchronous motors,a 5.5-kW motor was taken as an example and the multi-sliced field-circuit coupled time stepping finite element method(T-S FEM)was used to analyze the axially non-uniform fundamental and harmonic field distribution characteristics at typical locations in the stator and rotor cores.The major conclusions are:firstly the skewed rotor exhibits a decrease in the harmonic copper losses caused by slot harmonic currents in the stator winding and rotor bars.Secondly,the skewed rotor shifts the non-uniform distribution of field in the axial direction,which leads to more severe saturation and an increase in iron losses.The heavier the load,the more pronounced the increase in iron losses.Furthermore,the influences of different skew angles on motor losses are studied systematically,with skew angles from 0.5 to 1.5 stator tooth pitch.It is found that the lowest total loss occurs at 0.8 stator tooth pitch,and the slot harmonics can be decreased effectively.展开更多
Synchronization is considered to be a crucial mechanism that maintains respiratory rhythm.For understanding the effect of electrical coupling on the transition of the firing patterns and synchronization,we coupled two...Synchronization is considered to be a crucial mechanism that maintains respiratory rhythm.For understanding the effect of electrical coupling on the transition of the firing patterns and synchronization,we coupled two inspiratory pacemaker neurons together,and studied various synchronous behaviors between them.We firstly compared the bifurcation diagrams between the coupled neurons and single neuron,and found that the coupled neurons had a more complicated bifurcation mode.By increasing the coupling strength,the regular variation of phase differences was illustrated so that asynchronous and some synchronous states could be observed.These synchronous states were also shown in detail by phase portraits and firing series.In addition,we explored the ranges of different synchronous states,which attributed to different ranges of membrane capacitance and coupling strength.展开更多
