中国的“比象”思维是一种直接性的思维方式,非常注重以直观的方式来把握天地万物,并且将人事与自然相关联,力图寻求天地万物对人的意义。同时“比象”不脱离具象,就在对自然万物的观照中体认事物背后所蕴含的意义。“比象”思维在汉字... 中国的“比象”思维是一种直接性的思维方式,非常注重以直观的方式来把握天地万物,并且将人事与自然相关联,力图寻求天地万物对人的意义。同时“比象”不脱离具象,就在对自然万物的观照中体认事物背后所蕴含的意义。“比象”思维在汉字的产生、原始艺术、先民四方四时观念等方面体现得尤为明显。这些都是远古先民在直观天地万物的基础上依类象形创造出来的,是“比天”的产物。在原始巫术阶段,天是作为超自然的力量被崇拜的,比天更多地体现为“以天统人”模式下的“比神”。殷周之际,随着人性意识的觉醒,天逐渐祛魅化,演变成为自然之天或者形而上之天,其典型特质被概括为“道”,此时的比天就体现为“以人合天”模式下的“比道”,不再是简单地比天之形,而是对天的运行规律及其形而上特性的认识。因此,比象源于比天,却不限于比天,而是从对天和道的认识出发,由原始巫术的比神发展为礼乐文明的比道,最终发展成为中华民族独特的思维方式。 展开更多

To solve the excessive huge scale problem of the traditional multi-bit digital artificial neural network(ANN) hardware implementation methods,a bit-stream ANN hardware implementation method based on sigma delta(ΣΔ) modulation is presented.The bit-stream adder,multiplier,threshold function unit and fully digital ΣΔ modulator are implemented in a field programmable gate array(FPGA),and these bit-stream arithmetical units are employed to build the bit-stream artificial neuron.The function of the bit-stream artificial neuron is verified through the realization of the logic function and a linear classifier.The bit-stream perceptron based on the bit-stream artificial neuron with the pre-processed structure is proved to have the ability of nonlinear classification.The FPGA resource utilization of the bit-stream artificial neuron shows that the bit-stream ANN hardware implementation method can significantly reduce the demand of the ANN hardware resources. 展开更多

The hybrid Internal Model Control and Proportional Control learning scheme are introduced. In order to gain the desired robust performance and ensure the system's stability, Adaptive Momentum Algorithms are also developed. Through properly designing the neural network plant model and neural network controller, the chaotic dynamical systems are controlled while the parameters of the BP neural network are modified. Taking the Lorenz chaotic system as example, the results show that chaotic dynamical systems can be stabilized at the desired orbits by this control strategy. 展开更多

Arguably, Africa comparatively remains a huge account for narratives within the context of repository of misery and violence in the 21 st-century, an attempt to political development has posed an irresistible challenge and a disturbing necessity for Mia Couto in Voices Made Night (1990) and Bessie Head in Tales of Tenderness and Power (1989). The position of Couto as a white Mozambican writer and Head as an exiled coloured South African writer, living in her adopted country of Botswana, provides them with privileged neutrality from which to view the effect of the admixture of grinding poverty and violence as they ravage the landscapes of these countries. While Couto does not fail to incorporate the significance of power struggle between FRELIMO (Front for the Liberation of Mozambique) and RENAMO (Mozambique National Resistance) in the ~'oices Made Night, Head's articulation of the complex manipulation of power becomes a resource for constructing a discourse of nationalism in Tales of Tenderness and Power. The paper intends to focus on the correlation between power and economic development in these anthologies. The paper will further examine how political power impacts on the socio-economic well being of the local folks in the Couto's Mozambique and Head's South Africa. 展开更多

Therefore, the measures to recover their motor and nervous systems from the fatigue are very important. In this research, this author tries to investigate the methods to recover one' s joints and relax one' s nervous system, and detailed methods would also be provided for reference. Objective conditions, like sports fields and equipment, have become relatively satisfactory. There are high-level coaches and athletes who are carefully and scientifically chosen, so that good athletic performance is well guaranteed. To improve sports teams' comprehensive sports skills, we have to adopt and grasp some advanced training methods and skills. But after intensive training and fierce competition, athletes' motor and nervous system would suffer from fatigue, therefore, it becomes necessary for them to grasp the methods of recovery. In this research, this author tries to investigate the mechanism and methods to recover athletes' joints from the fatigue and relax their nervous system. 展开更多

For high-purity distillation processes,it is difficult to achieve a good direct product quality control using traditional proportional-integral-differential(PID)control or multivariable predictive control technique due to some difficulties,such as long response time,many un-measurable disturbances,and the reliability and precision issues of product quality soft-sensors.In this paper,based on the first principle analysis and dynamic simulation of a distillation process,a new predictive control scheme is proposed by using the split ratio of distillate flow rate to that of bottoms as an essential controlled variable.Correspondingly,a new strategy with integrated control and on-line optimization is developed,which consists of model predictive control of the split ratio,surrogate model based on radial basis function neural network for optimization,and modified differential evolution optimization algorithm. With the strategy,the process achieves its steady state quickly,so more profit can be obtained.The proposed strategy has been successfully applied to a gas separation plant for more than three years,which shows that the strategy is feasible and effective. 展开更多

This article compares two Latin poem dedications which may contain hidden sub-meanings and possible displays of a basic puzzle method called acrostics, each dedicated to the same nobleman. The Latin verse in 1579 by Anthony Munday follows acrostic English poems and may refer to his patron as "a lover of Pallas Athena" (the Spear-shaker of Greek mythology). The Latin verse in Robert Greene's 1584 book may contain a Latin acrostic and appears to identify Cupid, the "winged Love," as a companion of the same patron as Munday's from five years earlier. That Cupid trope appears similar to "the little love god" allusions to Cupid in several of Shakespeare's sonnets (e.g., #s 153 and 154). More than these discussions, this article explores difficulties of translating from Latin into English, or vice versa, and the pitfalls which can occur. 展开更多

It addresses various themes. It is much more than a study of the struggles between Christians and Jews; it also deals with love and self-sacrifice, hatred and revenge, and friendship and marriage. It is a victory of Christians against Jews. But, at a more profound level, the play is ultimately a tragedy which functions as a cautionary exposure on the social problems of prejudice, hypocrisy and the family relationships. The paper begins by addressing the prejudice that is a dominant theme throughout the play. It also contends that the hypocrisy is prevalent in Venetian society. Then, Shylock, as the tragic hero in the play is analyzed. The final part deals with the problem of family relationships. By exposing grave deficiencies in Venetian Society, the play obliges us to make a critical moral judgment on humanity and establish correct philosophy of life and values 展开更多

To solve the excessive huge scale problem of the traditional multi-bit digital artificial neural networks (ANN) hardware implementation methods, a bit-stream ANN construction method based on direct sigma-delta (Z-A) signal processing is presented. The bit-stream adder, multiplier and fully digital X-A modulator used in the bit-stream linear ANN are implemented in a field programmable gate array (FPGA). A bit-stream linear ANN based on these bit-stream modules is presented and implemented. To verify the function and performance of the bit-stream linear ANN, the bit-stream adaptive predictor and the bit-stream adaptive noise cancellation system are presented. The predicted result of the bit-stream adaptive predictor is very close to the desired signal. Also, the bit-stream adaptive noise cancellation system removes the electric power noise effectively. 展开更多

In order to solve the system problems of poor control precision and slow response time,a CMAC-PID( cerebellar model articulation controller-PID) compound control method is proposed. This compound controller consists of two components: one is a traditional PID for the feedback control to guarantee stability of the system; the other is the CMAC control algorithm to form a feed-forward control for achieving high control precision and short response time of the controlled plant. Then the CMAC-PID compound control method is used in the digital valve control servo system to improve its control performance. Through simulation and experiment,the proposed CMAC-PID compound control method is superior to the traditional PID control for enhancing stability and robustness,and thus this compound control can be used as a new control strategy for the digital valve control servo system. 展开更多

In order to accurately and quickly identify the safety status pattern of coalmines,a new safety status pattern recognition method based on the extension neural network (ENN) was proposed,and the design of structure of network,the rationale of recognition algorithm and the performance of proposed method were discussed in detail.The safety status pattern recognition problem of coalmines can be regard as a classification problem whose features are defined in a range,so using the ENN is most appropriate for this problem.The ENN-based recognition method can use a novel extension distance to measure the similarity between the object to be recognized and the class centers.To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method,a real-world application on the geological safety status pattern recognition of coalmines was tested.Comparative experiments with existing method and other traditional ANN-based methods were conducted.The experimental results show that the proposed ENN-based recognition method can identify the safety status pattern of coalmines accurately with shorter learning time and simpler structure.The experimental results also confirm that the proposed method has a better performance in recognition accuracy,generalization ability and fault-tolerant ability,which are very useful in recognizing the safety status pattern in the process of coal production. 展开更多

Antiproliferative Activity of Kappaphycus Alvarezii Extract on Three Cancer Cell Lines (NCIH 460, HCT 116 and U 251)

The methanolic extract of red seaweed Kappaphycus alvarezii was evaluated against three different cancer cell lines to study for its antiproliferative effect. Lung cancer cell line (NCIH 460), Colon cancer cell line (HCT 116) and Glial cell carcinoma (U 251) are the three selected cell lines investigated in this study. Different concentrations of methanol extract (0.01, 0.10, 1.00, 10.00 and 100.00 lag/mL respectively) of Kappaphycus alvarezii were prepared and screened by quantitative MTT (Microculture Tetrazolium) (3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) assay. MTT assay are the colorimetric assay which was applied to assess the viability and proliferation of cancer cells to determine the cytotoxicity of methanol extract ofK. alvarezii. The MTT test is based on the enzymatic reduction of the tetrazolium salt (MTT) to formazon crystals exclusively in living metabolically active cells developed purple color complex which was directly proportional to the viability of cells. To elucidate the in-vitro anticancer activity the Lethal Concentration (LC50), Growth Inhibition (GI50) and Total Growth Inhibition (TGI) of the extract were investigated individually for each cancer celt line. Analysis of the extract has shown good cytotoxicity in all tested cancer cell lines, with an IC50 of 55 μg/mL against NCIH460 and U251, 65 μg/mL for HCT116 respectively. GI50 was found to be 5 μg/mL for NCIH 460 and 10 μg/mL for HCT 116 and U251 cell lines. TGI was 19 μg/mL for NCIH 460, 29 μg/mL for HCT 116 and 25 μg/mL for U 251 cell lines. The cytotoxicity of the extract were significantly high in Lung Cancer Cell line (NCIH 460) when compared to Colon Cancer Cell line (HCT 116) and Glial Cell Carcinoma (U251) in the following order NCIH 460 〉 HCT 116 〉 U251. 展开更多

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effects that inhalation of the combustion products of the traditional Chinese herb Aiye(Folium Artemisiae Argyi) has on the central nervous system.METHODS: Forty Kunming mice(half male) were randomly assigned(n = 10/group) to a control group(C) or one of three moxa smoke concentration groups(% opacity): low(L1; 0.4%), medium(M1; 2%), and high(H1; 15%). Mice in the latter three groups were exposed to moxa smoke in a dynamic gas exposure cabinet for 20 min per day for7 days. Mice in control group were placed in the same cabinet without any intervention. For the sleep experiments, another 50 mice were divided into five groups of 10 mice each: a saline-injected control group, L1 + pentobarbital sodium(PS)-injected group, M1+PS group, H1(15%)+PS group,and a positive control group(10 mg/kg, chlorpromazine, p.o.). The weight, general activities, locomotor activities, rotarod performance, sleep duration,and sleeping rate induced by a subthreshold dose of pentobarbital sodium were recorded in the mice,and the composition of moxa smoke was analyzed using headspace gas chromatography(GC-HS).RESULTS: A low concentration of smoke significantly decreased the frequency of locomotor activities and the time for which the mice remaining on the rotarod; however, a high smoke concentration significantly prolonged the pentobarbital-induced sleeping time and sleeping rate.CONCLUSION: The concentration-dependent relaxing effects of moxa smoke on the Central Nervous System(CNS) were confirmed. Moreover, GC-HS analysis showed that the component present in the highest concentration in moxa smoke was eucalyp-tol, an essential oil well recognized for its soothing effects on the CNS. This may therefore be accountable for the sedative effects of moxa smoke. 展开更多
