A series of computations are conducted to obtain the effects of the bypass ratio and the scarf angle on the mixing performance for the scarfed lobed mixer. Results show that the scarfed lobed mixer is reduced in the system weight. Meanwhile, aerodynamic performances are slightly improved compared with the normal lobed mixer. Two reasons for causing the mixing enhancement between the core and the bypass flow are as follows: (1) The stream-wise vortices shed from the training edge of the half/full scarfed lobed mixer earlier is enhanced by about 25%. (2) The mixing augmentation is also associated with the increase of the interface length caused by scarfing. The thermal mixing efficiency is enhanced with the increase of the bypass ratio and the scarfing angle. The scarfed lobed mixer design has no negative effects on the pressure loss. The total pressure recovery coefficient reaches above 0. 935 in various bypass ratios and scarfed angles. As the bypass ratio increases, the total pressure recovery coefficient also increases for the scarfed lobed mixer.展开更多

The electron swarm parameters such as effective ionization coefficient, -↑α and drift velocity over the E/N range from 280~700 Td(1Td=10^-21 V·m^2) were calculated by employing a set of cross sections available in literature. From the variation cure of -↑α with SF6 partial pressure p, the limiting field (E/N)lim of gas mixture at different gas content was determined. It is found that the limiting field of c-C4F8 and SF6 gas mixture is higher than that of pure SF6 at any SF6 mixture ratio. Simulation results show excellent agreement with experiment data available in previous literature.展开更多

To obtain accurate aerodynamic parameters, a hybrid genetic algorithm is proposed to identify and optimize the aerodynamic parameters of projectile. By combining the traditional simulated annealing method that is easy to fall into local optimum solution but hard to get global parameters with the genetic algorithm that has good global optimization ability but slow local optimization ability, the hybrid genetic algo- rithm makes full use of the advantages of the two algorithms for the optimization of projectile aerodynamic parameters. The simulation results show that the hybrid genetic algorithm is better than a single algorithm.展开更多

Temperature field, fluid velocity and electromagnetic fields are computed inside the cathode, arc-plasma and anode using a unified MHD formulation. The developed model is then used to study the influence of different helium-argon gas mixtures on both the energy transferred to the workpiece and the time evolution of the weld pool dimensions. It is found that the addition of helium to argon increases the heat flux density on the weld axis by a factor that can reach 6.5. This induces an increase in the weld pool depth by a factor of 3. It is also found that the addition of only 10% of argon to helium decreases considerably the weld pool depth, which is due to the electrical conductivity of the mixture that increases significantly when argon is added to helium.展开更多

To efficiently cool the vanes, the mass of coolant with its maximum gas mass flow exceeding to 20% of main stream, has to be increased. In the pres- ent paper, a two-stage turbine with and without coolant mixing was simulated by CFX-TASCflow. Simulation resuits indicate that the flow field structure with coolant is obviously different from that without coolant, and the former has characteristics of lower-speed main flow, reduced mach number, weaker shock intensity and decreased stage efficiency.展开更多
