Objective: To explore the role of polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN) activation in lung injury following cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). Methods: Twenty four cases of patients with rheumatic heart disease were en...Objective: To explore the role of polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN) activation in lung injury following cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). Methods: Twenty four cases of patients with rheumatic heart disease were enrolled in this study to detect the situation of PMN activation and the degree of lung injury. Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and blood samples were collected just after anaesthesia and 4 h postoperatively. Related clinic data were recorded. Results: This cohort included 4 male and 20 female with age ranging from 29 to 69 years old, and body mass from 37 to 73 kg. Mean cardiopulmonary bypass time was (106.46±33.58) rain, mean cross clamp time was (77.58_+28.02) rain, and mean mechanical ventilation time was (24.17±30.90) h. Postoperative PaO2/FiO2 decreased significantly than that during preoperation (P=0.000). The postoperative WBC counts in peripheral blood and in BALF were both increased significantly than those during preoperation. And the postoperative rates of PMN in BALF were also increased significantly. Postoperative neutriphil elastase (NE) and myeloperoxidase (MPO) released from inflammatory ceils were increased significantly (P=0.000) both in plasma and BALF. The postoperative yon Willebrand factor (vWF) concentration in plasma was also increased significantly (P=0.000). The postoperative concentration of sLPI in plasma was decreased, whereas it was increased significantly in BALF. Furthermore, there was a negative correlation between NE and PaO2/FiO2 both in BALF and in plasma. A negative correlation was present between vWF in plasma and PaO2/FiO2. A positive correlation was found between sLPI in plasma and PaO2/FiO2. Conclusion: PMN is recruited and activated after CPB and released large quantity of proteases, and lead to lung injury, sLPI is an important protective factor against inflammatory injury.展开更多
Objective: To evaluate whether herbs of supplementing Qi and nourishing Yin combined with chemotherapy (versus chemotherapy alone) improve survival, increase tumor response, improve performance status or reduce ch...Objective: To evaluate whether herbs of supplementing Qi and nourishing Yin combined with chemotherapy (versus chemotherapy alone) improve survival, increase tumor response, improve performance status or reduce chemotherapy toxicity in patients with lung cancer. Methods: Searching the randomized controlled trials (RCT) studies from the databases (China HowNet database, Wan Fang database, VIP database, Master Thesis and Pubmed) between January 2013 and January 2017. RevMan 5.3 software was used to evaluate the quality of these collected papers. Results: Of 48 potentially relevant publications, 10 randomized studies representing 691 patients met inclusion criteria with 369 cases in the supplementing Qi and nourishing Yin plus Chemotherapy group (Herbs + Chem group) and 322 cases in Chemotherapy group (Chem only group). There were significant differences between Herbs + Chem group and Chem only group in improving the treatment efficacy and reducing the side effects of chemotherapy (P 〈 0.001 for all). There were also significant differences between the two groups in tumor response and quality of life (P 〈 0.001 for all). Conclusion: Herbs of supplementing Qi and nourishing Yin may increase chemotherapy effectiveness, reduce chemotherapy toxicity and improve the quality of life of patients with lung cancer when combined with chemotherapy.展开更多

Methods Ninety cases of CFS were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, 45 cases in each group. The observation group was treated with acupuncture at Renying (人迎 ST 9), Fengfu(风府 GV 16), Batihui (百会 GV 20); the control group was treated with 250 mL 5% Glucose injeetio combined with 20 mL Shenmai injectio (参脉注射液). Fatigue Scale (FS) was used to compare the scores between the two groups after treatment. Results The total scores in the observation group ,were 9.37±2.33 and 5.41±1.96 before and after treatment respectively, and in the control group, they were 9.08±2.27 and 7.34±2.03 respectively. FS brainwork integral, physical fatigue integral, and total integral all decreased after treatment in two groups (all P〈0.001), and it decreased much more obviously in the observation group (P〈0.05, P〈0.01). Conclusion Both of the acupuncture treatment and Shenmai injectio are able to decrease Fatigue Scale score, improve the fatigue symptoms of CFS patients, and the effect of acupuncture treatment is obviously superior to that of Shenmai injectio.展开更多
