This paper describes the structural design and construction of the oscillating water column "greenWAVE Energy Converter" which was constructed during 2013 and was planned to be deployed in shallow water off the South Australian coast in 2014. Rated initially at 1 MW, the greenWAVE unit will be dedicated to electricity production, although an option is available to produce desalinated seawater. The unit base is constructed from reinforced concrete designed to international maritime codes, and the unit will be founded in approximately 10-15 m of water. The upper portion of the device extends above sea level, housing the airwave turbine and electrical control systems.展开更多

The purpose...This paper presented the simulation results of the three phase electrical systems supplied by four wires with power quality problems, to which the parallel 3-leg APF (active power filters) are connected. The purpose of this study is to analyze the results obtained in these conditions in order to observe the limits of the 3-leg active power filters and to form a foundation for the future studies of the 4-leg active power filters. For a complete analysis, the APF will be controlled by four control methods: synchronous reference system control, indirect control, instantaneous p-q theory control, and positive sequence control. The analysis will watch the power quality indicators: THD (total harmonic distortion factor), PF (power factor), Iunb (unbalance factor).展开更多

The paper summarizes the application, including system aspects that require special control functions in the SVC (static var compensator) regulator. Several important benefits for the system operation are demonstrated, such as increased power transmission import over an existing 230 kV network, dynamic bus voltage stabilization for various load conditions, including system outages and load rejection, and reduction of variable speed drive shutdowns by up to 95%. Due to the coexistence and coupling of continuous variables and discrete events, the vehicle height adjustment process of electronic air suspension system can be regarded as a typical hybrid system. Therefore, the hyb...Due to the coexistence and coupling of continuous variables and discrete events, the vehicle height adjustment process of electronic air suspension system can be regarded as a typical hybrid system. Therefore, the hybrid system theory was applied to design a novel vehicle height control strategy in this paper. A nonlinear mechanism model of the vehicle height adjustment system was established based on vehicle system dynamics and thermodynamic theory for variable-mass gas charge/discharge system. In order to model both the continuous/discrete dynamics of vehicle height adjustment process and the on-off statuses switching of solenoid valves, the framework of mixed logical dynamical(MLD) modelling was used. On the basis of the vehicle height adjustment control strategy, the MLD model of the adjustment process was built by introducing auxiliary logical variables and auxiliary continuous variables. Then, the co-simulation of the nonlinear mechanism model and the MLD model was conducted based on the compiling of HYSDEL. The simulation and experimental results show that the proposed control strategy can not only adjust the vehicle height effectively, but also achieve the on-off statuses direct control of solenoid valves.展开更多
