The results showed that the short-term total effective rate in the group of drug acupoint application was higher than that in the group of traditional crude herb moxibustion, the therapeutic effects of drug acupoint application being closely related to differential types. Analysis also shows the best short-term therapeutic effect was in the type of heat in the lung while the poorest effect in the type of deficiency of the kidney-yang.展开更多

In the present article, the authors review development of clinical studies on acu-moxibustion treatment of asthma in recent 5 years from ① changes of pulmonary function as forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1), forced vital capacity (FVC), FEV1%, peak expiratory flow (PEF), maximum mid expiratory flow (MMEF), etc., ② changes of immune function as serum IgE, IgG, subgroups of T lymphocytes, inflammatory mediators, cytokines, etc, and ③ changes of the nervous system and related receptors including nitric oxide (NO), vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), substance P (SP), and cAMP/cGMP. Additionally, the authors also introduce the development of experimental researches from the effects of acu-moxibustion on ① inflammatory cells, ② nervous system and receptors, ③ patho-morphological changes of the lung tissue, and ④serology of acupuncture.展开更多

The patients of acute bronchitis were randomly divided into 2 groups. In the observation group, there were 36 cases, who were treated with the integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine, primarily the pricking-cupping method on Back-shu points; while in the control group, there were 29 cases who were given the conventinal treatment of western medicine. All the 2 groups were treated for 7 days as one treating course. Results: The total effective rate of the observation group was 97.2% while that of the control group was 82,8%, so there is a significant difference between them. On the first and third days the clinical manifestations were more satisfactorily improved in the treatment group than in the control group (P 〈 0.01) and on the fifth and seventh days, the comparison showed no significant difference (P〉0.05). Conclusion: The treatment of acute bronchitis by means of the integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine primarily with pricking-cupping method on Back-shu points is of marked therapeutic effect, simple manipulation, and little untoward effects, thus claiming the unique advantage.展开更多

In recent years, the functions of acupuncture in anesthesia, especially in regulation of circulatory properties have been developed gradually and have been applied by many physicians in controlling the stress reaction induced by tracheal intubation in general anesthesia. Being a kind of dual-directional and positive regulation and stimulation, acupuncture provides definite and safe effects on controlling the stress reaction induced by tracheal intubation.展开更多
In June 1994, asthma plaster was developed, which has proved effective in the treatment of cold-type asthma by applying it on some acupoints, which are known to be good for asthma.

Some chooses related points on the head to treat diseases according to the theory of Zang-fu organs and the theory of meridians and collaterals, others needle the corresponding stimulating areas on the scalp according to the action location of cerebral cortex. Its theoretical foundation includes the theory of meridians and collaterals, the theory of the action location of cerebral cortex and the theory of holographic biology. The author used it solely or in combination with body acupuncture and moxibustion not only for the central nerve diseases, but also for all other various diseases and symptoms, as well as cortex-internal organs dysfunction with satisfactory therapeutic effects. This article listed the treatment with scalp acupuncture and other needling methods for incontinence of urine, loss of vision and excessive salivation.展开更多
