We provide a new strategy for improving the charge separation and photocatalytic performance of ZnO /TiO2 composites by the formation of multichannel charge separated heterojunctions. ZnO /P25 composites were prepared by an incipient wetness impregnation method, and applied for the photocatalytic destruction of gaseous toluene. The ZnO /P25 composites consist of anatase TiO2(ATiO2), rutile TiO2(RTiO2) and hexagonal zincite structures. The parasitic phase of ZnO in P25 leads to the formation of ZnO(002)/ATiO2(101)/RTiO2(110) heterojunctions that exhibit enhanced light absorption and improved multichannel electron/hole separation. ZnO /P25 heterojunctions can completely oxidize toluene into CO2 and H2O under ultraviolet light irradiation at room temperature, and show enhanced photocatalytic activity in comparison with P25 owing to the efficient electron-hole separation. Such a multichannel charge separated design strategy may provide new insight into the design of highly effective photocatalysts and their potential technological applications.展开更多

However, its photoresistivity and photoresonse are still unsatisfied. Herein, we report a novel method to assemble ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) onto the reduced graphite oxide (RGO) sheet by simple hydrothermal process without any surfactant. It is found that the high-quality crystallized ZnO NPs with the average diameter of 5 nm are well dispersed on the RGO surface, and the density of ZnO NPs can be readily controlled by the concentration of the precursor. The photodetector fabricated with this ZnO NPs- RGO hybrid structure demonstrates an excellent photoresponse for the UV irradiation. The results make this hybrid especially suitable as a novel material for the design and fabrication of high performance UV photodector.展开更多

However, less work has been reported on piezo-modulated interface engineering in all-oxide systems. In this paper, an enhanced photoresponse of an all-oxide Cu2O/ZnO heterojunction was obtained by taking advantage of the piezotronic effect. The illumination density-dependent piezoelectric modulation ability was also comprehensively investigated. An 18.6% enhancement of photoresponse was achieved when applying a a-0.88% compressive strain. Comparative experiments confirmed that this enhancement could be interpreted in terms of the band modification induced by interfacial piezoelectric polarization. The positive piezopotential generated at the ZnO side produces an increase in space charge region in Cu2O, thus providing an extra driving force to separate the excitons more efficiently under illumination. Our research provides a promising method to boost the performance of optoelectronics without altering the interface structure and could be extended to other metal oxide devices.展开更多

The heterostructure ITO/LCKMO/ZnO/A1 exhibits reproducible rectifying characteristics and light cur- rent under continuous laser irradiation of 2 = 325 nm. We report here the influence of LCKMO/ZnO bilayers' thickness on the electrical and photoelectric properties of the heterostructure at room temperature. The power conversion efficiency (PCE) is achieved when the LCKMO and ZnO layers are thin enough or the full space charge layer is sufficient. We obtained the maximum value of PCE of 0.0145% when the thicknesses of LCKMO and ZnO layers are 25 and 150 nm, respectively. The open circuit voltage is 0.04 V under this condition due to the internal photoemission.展开更多
