The aim was to protect the Henan Yellow River carp germplasm resources and provide a scientific basis for the meat quality improvement of Yellow River carps. With artificially farmed and wild Henan Yellow River carps as the research objects, comparative study on muscle fiber diameter and density, routine nutritional composition, calcium and phosphorus contents and amino acids composition was conducted between the two groups of carps. The results showed that the moisture content was significantly higher (P 〈0.05), the crude fat and crude protein contents were significantly lower (P〈0.05), the essential amino acids and total amino acids contents were lower (P〉0.05), the phosphorus content was higher (P 〉0.05), and the calcium content was lower (P〉0.05) in the wild group compared with those in the farming group. The analysis of muscle fiber characteristics showed that there were significant differences in the average muscle fiber diameter (P〈0.05) and muscle fiber density (P〈0.01) between the two groups of Henan Yellow River carps. 展开更多

Effect of Raw Material for Distillers Grains Production on Protein Quality for Ruminants

The present experiment was focused on quality of dry distillers' grains with solubles (DDGS) produced from corn (DDGSc), wheat (DDGSw), triticale (DDGSt), and wet distillers grains from corn (WDGc) for ruminants. The products were tested for dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fibre (NDF), acid detergent fibre (ADF) acid detergent insoluble nitrogen (NIAD), amino acid (AA) profile, CP degradability and intestinal digestibility (ID) of rumen undegraded protein (RUP). The average content of CP (g/kg DM) ranged from 289.9 (DDGSc) to 356.9 (DDGSw). The highest content of essential AA was in WDGc (440.1 g/160g N) followed with DDGSc. The most variable was the content of Lys in DDGSw (from 13.69 to 22.79 g/160 g N). The NIAD was found the highest for DDGSw (from 16.8% to 36.2%), effective CP degradability was only 50.2% and ID of RUP 82.2%, total essential AA 81.2%, Lys 77.69% and Met 81.4%. Lys was generally the least digestible AA. The ruminally degradable CP fraction was in the range from 52.6% to 70.2% for DDGSc. ID of total and essential by-pass AA was very high 96.2% and 96.1%, Lysine 90.9% and Methionine 96.7%. From these data it can be concluded that DDGS from grains are a good source of protein for ruminants. 展开更多

Iminodiacetic acid functionalized polyglycidyl methacrylate grafted-carbon fibers(PGMA-IDA/CFs) were prepared for Ni(II) removal from aqueous solutions. The effects of solution p H value, temperature and adsorption time were investigated. The maximum adsorption capacity of Ni(II) on PGMA-IDA/CFs is 0.923 mmol·L-1· g-1at pH 5.2 and 50 °C. Kinetic data indicate that the adsorption process matches the pseudo-second-order model and Elovich kinetic model. Thermodynamic data suggest that the adsorption process is endothermic spontaneous reaction. 展开更多

Background and aims:Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is remarkably increasing in developing countries like India,in parallel with the increasing incidence of obesity.Lifestyle modification is a recommended treatment for NAFLD.In most of the previous studies,improvement after lifestyle modification was assessed by liver fibrosis through liver biopsy,but we cannot do a serial liver biopsy in every NAFLD patient.Liver fibrosis can also be assessed by fibroscan non-invasively in NAFLD.This study was designed to evaluate the effect of lifestyle modification on liver enzymes and Fibroscan values in a population with NAFLD.Methods:Initially,50 NAFLD patients were included in this prospective follow-up study;however,after 6 months of lifestyle modification,only 39 participants were studied.During both the first and second consultations,Fibroscan was carried out.All participants underwent a careful interview,anthropometry measurements and radiological and biochemical tests during every consultation.Results:After 6 months of lifestyle modification,Fibroscan values improved significantly(8.3160.11kPa vs 7.8760.12kPa,p¼0.009).Alanine aminotransferase(ALT)values also showed improvement during the second consultation(97.2562.62 U/L vs 66.6963.95 U/L,p<0.001).Conclusion:Measured by Fibroscan and liver enzymes,it has been found that lifestyle modification is an effective therapy to downgrade hepatic injury in NAFLD patients.Serial Fibroscan can be used to assess the treatment response in NAFLD patients due to its non-invasive nature. 展开更多
