In this study the hydrological model of ground water table in loose sediment is established. According to infinite slope theory, the safety factor of deposits is defined as the ratio of resistance force to driving force. The starting condition of post-earthquake gully debris flow is clearly studied by analyzing the effects of rainfall intensity, seismic strength, slope gradient and mechanical properties on the balance of accumulation body. Then the formulas of rainfall and aftershock threshold for starting of gully debris flow are proposed, and an example is given to illustrate the effect of rainfall, aftershocks and their coupling action on a debris flow. The result shows the critical rainfall intensity decreases as the lateral seismic acceleration and channel gradient increases, while the critical intensity linearly increases as the friction angle increases.展开更多

Results show that the Tayuan well has a strong ability to record large earthquakes worldwide, and the coseismic response shows a pattern of water level oscillation →temperature decrease→ oscillation stop → temperature resumption. Further analyses indicate that the amplitude of the water level and temperature change is not ouly concerned with the epicenter distance and magnitude, but is also related to the temporal state of aquifer while the seismic wave arrives. Mechanisms of water level oscillation, temperature decrease, water level oscillation stop and temperature resumption are discussed, with the results from previous research on the co-seismic response mechanisms analyzed. These include gas escape, heat diffusion and cold water seepage. Results show that a single mechanism could not explain the co-seismic response of the Tayuan well water level to multiple earthquakes; the results were garnered from a variety of jointly acting mechanisms.展开更多

Therefore, phase lag correction is used in analyzing digital groundwater observation data in eastern China. Calculation results presented by the authors in this paper show that the correction method is effective in the identification of anomalous changes for short-term seismic precursors. The correction method can also be applied to the processing of observed deformation and tilt data.展开更多

Firstly,we remove the annual variation and tendency change of basic data by means of wavelet transform analysis.Secondly,we calculate the autocorrelation coefficients and variance of the critical slowing down phenomenon. Lastly,we try to verify the critical slowing down phenomenon before an earthquake. The result indicates that there was obvious critical slowing down of the records at different stations before earthquakes.展开更多

It is the second network in China that is operated by enterprises with the purpose to observe and study earthquake precursors in reservoir areas. This paper presents the layout and technical constitution of the network, features of its observational wells and aquifers and the preliminary result of its experimental operation. Its capability to monitor seismic precursor is evaluated based on an analysis of the well-aquifer system as well as the multiple-monthly, monthly, daily and hourly variations of water levels and water temperatures observed by this network.展开更多

For research on groundwater dynamics, groundwater dating can qualitatively and quantitatively provide scientific analysis on the characteristics of groundwater recharge and runoff as well as renewal capacity. This article illustrates the methods used globally and summarizes the main advances and achievements in groundwater dating. It also focuses on the relationships between groundwater renewal capacity and seismic monitoring, groundwater movement and seismic activity, shallow groundwater recharge and abnormal interference elimination. The studies show that groundwater dating plays an important role in water-rock interaction, and geological tectonic and seismic activity evaluation. Therefore, groundwater dating can be widely used to monitor and analyze the precursor information in seismic underground fluid observations in the near future.展开更多
