A water-TiO2nanofluid with a weight fraction of 5% and an average particle size of 75 nm is used to investigate the effect of TiO2 nanoparticles on the crystallization and melting behaviors of deionized water by using differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)at four different cooling rates,3,5,7,9 ℃/min.The DSC experimental results show that the water-TiO2 nanofluid has a lower supercooling degree and a faster crystallization rate than the deionized water.With the increase in the cooling rate,the influence of the TiO2 nanoparticles on the supercooling degree of the deionized water becomes greater,but on the crystallization rate it turns lower.During the melting process,compared with the deionized water,the water-TiO2 nanofluid has a lower melting temperature,a less latent heat and a higher melting rate. 展开更多

Effects of Self-purification of River Water on Laundry Wastewater

[Objective] This study was conducted to investigate the effect of laundry wastewater on the quality of river water and the dilution purification effect of river water on laundry wastewater. [Method] The effects of laundry wastewater on the contents of total nitrogen(TN), total phosphorus(TP), suspended solids(SS), chemical oxygen demand(COD) and linear alkylbenzene sulfonic acid(LAS) were studied in 7 rivers of Shaoxing City. [Result](1) The contents of TN, TP, SS, COD and LAS increased by 92%, 99%, 340%, 351% and 923%, respectively, at the discharging moment of laundry wastewater; and(2) the five pollutional indexes significantly decreased over time, and especially 2 h after the discharge of laundry wastewater, compared with former the discharge of laundry wastewater, the contents of TN, TP, COD and LAS increased by 6%, 11%, 9% and13%, respectively,while the contents of SS still increased by 76%, i.e., SS required a longer time to achieve self-purification. [Conclusion] Laundry wastewater has some influence on thequality of river water, and the self-purification function of river water could effectively remove pollutants. 展开更多

Presence of external electrical field plays a vital role in heat transfer and fluid flow phenomena. Keeping this in view present article is a numerical investigation of stagnation point flow of water based nanoparticles suspended fluid under the influence of induced magnetic field. A detailed comparative analysis has been performed by considering Copper and Titanium dioxide nanoparticles. Utilization of similarity analysis leads to a simplified system of coupled nonlinear differential equations, which has been tackled numerically by means of shooting technique followed by Runge-Kutta of order 5. The solutions are computed correct up to 6 decimal places. Influence of pertinent parameters is examined for fluid flow, induced magnetic field, and temperature profile. One of the key findings includes that magnetic parameter plays a vital role in directing fluid flow and lowering temperature profile. Moreover, it is concluded that Cu-water based nanofluid high thermal conductivity contributes in enhancing heat transfer efficiently. 展开更多
