Zhenong 952) leaf was investigated with immunogold-labeled electron microscope techniques on the basis of determining the diurnal changes of photosynthetic rate (Pn), Rubisco and RCA activities, and quantifying two enzyme contents in the leaf with immuno-diffusion method in order to understand why RCA activity decreased in the midday when its contents was high. The results showed that Rubisco mainly was located in chloroplast, and RCA were found both in chloroplast and mitochondria. The lowering of Rubisco in chloroplast as well as Rubisco activity at noon could be one of good reasons to explain the photosynthetic midday depression in leaf. The density of RCA in chloroplast reached the maximum at 14:00 and a valley at 11:00. The result much coincided with the activity of RCA in leaf. In mitochondria, the density of RCA changed abruptly in one day with the highest at 13:00 and it can well elucidate why the activities of Rubisco declined at noon when its amount was increasing. Therefore the cellular localization and/or distribution of Rubisco and RCA during a day is more important for Pn, Rubisco and RCA activities.展开更多

DNA sequences flanking the T-DNA were analyzed with inverse PC...The Agrobacterium mediated transgenic rice ( Oryza saliva L.) population with inserts of maize transposon Activator/Dissociation (Ac/Ds) was investigated. DNA sequences flanking the T-DNA were analyzed with inverse PCR. Results showed that 65.4% of the T-DNA was integrated in different locations of rice genome, and some T-DNA flanking sequences were located on certain chromosomes. A number of T-DNA was found to have inserted into protein coding regions. In order to induce transposition of the inserted Ds elements, 354 crosses of Ac x Ds and Ds x Ac were constructed. The excision frequency of Ds element trans-activated by Ac transposase was 22.7% in the F-2 populations, and the transposition was confirmed with analyses of DNA sequences flanking the Ds elements. In addition to the transposition due to 'cut-paste' mechanism, Ds can replicate itself and integrate into a new locus, and inaccurate excisions were also found. A proportion of DNA segments flanking the Ds elements showed no homologies to sequences published in GenBank, of which two were registered under the accession numbers AF355153 and AF355770. The strategy of using transposon tagging for rice genomics study was discussed.展开更多

Water oxidation is the bottleneck of artificial photosynthesis.Since the first ruthenium-based molecular water oxidation catalyst,the blue dimer,was reported by Meyer’ s group in 1982,catalysts based on transition me...Water oxidation is the bottleneck of artificial photosynthesis.Since the first ruthenium-based molecular water oxidation catalyst,the blue dimer,was reported by Meyer’ s group in 1982,catalysts based on transition metals have been widely employed to explore the mechanism of water oxidation.Because the oxidation of water requires harsh oxidative conditions,the stability of transition complexes under the relevant catalytic conditions has always been a challenge.In this work,we report the redox properties of a CuⅢ complex(TAML-CuⅢ] with a redox-active macrocyclic ligand(TAML) and its reactivity toward catalytic water oxidation.TAML-CuⅢ displayed a completely different electrochemical behavior from that of the TAML-CoⅢ complex previously reported by our group.TAML-CuⅢ can only be oxidized by one-electron oxidation of the ligand to form TAML·+-CuⅢand cannot achieve water activation through the ligand-centered proton-coupled electron transfer that takes place in the case of TAML-CoⅢ.The generated TAML·+-CuⅢ intermediate can undergo further oxidation and ligand hydrolysis with the assistance of borate anions,triggering the formation of a heterogeneous B/CuOx nanocatalyst Therefore,the choice of the buffer solution has a significant influence on the electrochemical behavior and stability of molecular water oxidation catalysts.展开更多

The results show that the interlayer cations not only play decisive roles on removal temperature of bound water, but also influence dehydroxylation temperature and activation energy of montmorillonite. Combined with earth tidal theory, we analyze the response characteristics from well-aquifer water level change to earth tide of volume strain and present a method of volume strain inversion from water level clmnge. Comparing the results of inversion with real observed data, we found that there is a good consistency. This suggests that the method of volume strain inversion from water level clmnge is proper. It will offer a reference for learning about hydrogeology characteristics, volume strain and searching for precursor anomalies.展开更多

Social convergence is one of the most important objectives for European integration. It is understood as a process of cohesion and assimilation of countries in the area of social development, which is the conditions a...Social convergence is one of the most important objectives for European integration. It is understood as a process of cohesion and assimilation of countries in the area of social development, which is the conditions and standards of living of the citizens of the European countries (EU27). The aim of the article was to investigate whether there is convergence or divergence in the EU27 area, taking into account multidimensional analysis of social convergence. Methodology used in the article was taxonomic and statistical tool. It allowed applying the synthetic approach to the issue. The time taken into consideration was the period of 2000-2013. The article showed that the area of the EU27 is very diversified in terms of social development. It allows indicating five groups of countries similar to each other due to the level of social development, although the differences among the groups are significant. The analysis of convergence led to the conclusion that the process of "catching up" occurred until 2007. Then this process has stopped and even divergence trends are visible due to crisis 2008/2009. The period of 2008-2011 revealed the greatest disparities of development among the EU countries.展开更多
