The successful implementation of stereotomography is highly dependent on the correct extraction of slowness components and the proper application of regularization terms. With the help of the structure tensor algorithm, a high-quality 3D stereotomography data space is achieved in a very efficient manner. Then, considering that the horizontal slowness in cross-line direction is usually unavailable for 3D narrow-azimuth data, the regularization terms must be enhanced to guarantee a stable convergence of the presented algorithm. The inverted model serves as a good model for the 3D pre-stack depth migration. The synthetic and real data examples demonstrated the robustness and effectiveness of the presented algorithm and the related schemes.展开更多

Discrimination between the objects can be transferred into different projection spaces by the process of multi-field feature extraction. The multi-field feature vector includes time-domain, spectral, time-frequency distribution and bi-spectral features. Underwater target recognition can be considered as a problem of small sample recognition. SVM algorithm is appropriate to this kind of problems because of its outstanding generalizability. The SVM is contrasted with a Gaussian classifier and a k-nearest classifier in some experiments using real data of lake or sea trial. The experimental results indicate that SVM is better than the others two.展开更多

Studies were carried out to assess the extractability of astaxanthin from E. pacific using subcritical 1, 1, 1,2-tetrafluoroethane (R134a). To examine the effects of multiple process variables on the extraction yield, astaxanthin was extracted under various conditions of pressure (30-150bar), temperature (303-343 K), time (10-50rain), flow rate (2-10gmin-1), moisture content (5.5%-63.61%), and particle size (0.25-0.109mm). The results showed that the extraction yield increased with temperature, pressure, time and flow rate, but decreased with moisture content and particle size. A maximum yield of 87.74% was obtained under conditions of 100bar, 333K, and 30min with a flow rate of 6gmin-1 and a moisture content of 5.5%. The substantial astaxanthin yield obtained under low-pressure conditions demonstrates that subcritical R134a is a good alternative to CO2 for extraction of astaxanthin from E. pacific.展开更多

This method can realize the water extraction based on TM image by analyzing the spectral characteristics of water in this false color image and establishing a water extraction model. This paper also compares the effi- ciency of this method with MNDWI, (TM2 + TM3) - (TM4 + TM5) and new water index (NWI), which were applied in the city and mountain of Taiyuan, respectively. The results show that the proposed method can extract water body from TM im- age more rapidly and efficiently and its accuracy is up to 94.03 %. Phytochemical analysis has been done using 5-methoxyflavone 10-4 M andα-gluconolactone 10-4 M in methanol 80% (pH 2) solvent to the HPLC (high performance liquid chromatography) and the TLC (thin layer chromatography). RPMI 1640 (Rose Park Memorial Institute medium 1640) has been used for plasmodium strain culture and the antiplasmodial activity has been evaluated under microscopy with infected blood colored by Giemsa-stained thick. IC50 (The inhibitory concentration of extract would be killed 50% of parasites) was estimated. The results show that extracts of P. niruri exhibit more antiplasmodial activities (IC50:3.98 μg/50 μL for aqueous extract, between 9.5-19 μg/50 p.L for ethanolic extract and 5.3 Itg/50 laL for dichloromethane extract) than those of M. lucida (IC50:5.39 to 10.78 μg/50 μL, 12.265 μg/50 μL and 24.53 μg/50 μL) successively for queous, ethanolic and dichloromethane extracts. For the same antiplasmodial activity, the amount of extract of M. lucida is still higher than that of P. niruri. These results are explained by the composition of phenolic compounds that are found in P. niruri. This plant has therefore presented more spectra in the chromatogram (20 peaks for hydrolyzed extract and 27 peaks for unhydrolyzed extracts) comparing that ofM. lucida hydrolyzed or unhydrolyzed extracts with 13 and 14 peaks. TLC revealed compounds such as flavonols, flavan-3-ols. Nevertheless, quinine used as positive control presented the same antiplasmodial activity for the low doses for the drugs and our extracts presented weak antiplasmodial activity comparing previous works. The studies could continue for the isolation of active principle that of P. niruri.展开更多

Minimal clean-up is necessary when other beta nuclides are present, such as barium-140. These nuclides are eliminated by a barium chromate scavenge, prior to the extraction step. The method presented here allows for the investigation of at least 12 water samples a day and is therefore a suitable tool for emergency analysis.展开更多

The hot water extract did not show any spectrum of activity against the selected bacteria while the cold water extract showed slight antibacterial activity suggesting that the effective components are heat labile. The ethanolic extracts of the leaves have higher antibiotic spectrum of activity than the cold water extract showing ethanol to be a better solvent in extracting the effective component. The fallen leaves seem to have a higher concentration of the effective component against the bacteria while ethanolic extract of the fresh leaves have similar spectrum of activity to Ciprofloxacin and Nitrofuratoin. These suggest that some effective components are lost when leaves fall off while some seem to increase in concentration. Fresh and fallen leaves contain tannin and flavonoids. In addition, the fallen leaves contain flavones. This might be responsible for the higher activity of fallen leaves extract observed against Pseudomonas and Staphylococcus spp. in our study. Combined use of extracts from fresh and fallen leaves broadened the spectrum of activity.展开更多

An intrinsic mode characteristic extraction method in underwater cylindrical shell acoustic radiation was studied in this paper based on the mechanism of shell vibration to gain the information about its dimension instead of accurate inversion processing. The underwater cylindrical shell vibration and acoustic radiation were first analyzed using mode decomposition to solve the wave equation. The characteristic of acoustic radiation was studied with different cylindrical shell lengths, radii, thickness, excitation points and fine structures. Simulation results show that the intrinsic mode in acoustic radiation spectrum correlates closely with the geometry dimensions of cylindrical shells. Through multifaceted analysis, the strongest intrinsic mode characteristic extracted from underwater shell acoustic radiated signal was most likely relevant to the radiated source radius. Then, partial information about unknown source dimension could be gained from intrinsic mode characteristic in passive sonar applications for underwater target classification. Experimental data processing results verified the effectiveness of the method in this paper.展开更多

In this work, we present a fast (-5 min), low-cost, and easily scalable bench-top approach to the extraction of high-quality isolated SWCNTs from bundles and impurities in an aqueous dispersion. The extraction procedure, based on aqueous two-phase (ATP) separation, is widely applicable to any SWCNT source (tested on samples up to 1.7 nm in diameter) and independent of defect density, purity, diameter, and length. The extracted dispersions demonstrate that the removal of large aggregates, small bundles, and impurities is comparable to that by density gradient ultracentrifugation, but without the need for high-end instrumentation. Raman and fluorescence-excitation spectroscopy, single-nanotube fluorescence imaging, atomic force and transmission electron microscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis all confirm the high purity of the isolated SWCNTs. By predispersing the SWCNTs without sonication (only gentle stirring), full-length, pristine SWCNTs can be isolated (tested up to 20 μm). Hence, this simple ATP method will find immediate application in the generation of SWCNT materials for all levels of nanotube research and applications, from fundamental studies to high-performance devices.展开更多
