Rrogozhina aquifer represents an important groundwater source of the country whose relevance was highly increased during recent years because of the demographic expansion in this region. This is a typically multi-layered artesian aquifer which consists of sandstone and conglomerate with high heterogeneous permeability. The groundwater mostly belongs to HCO3-Mg-Ca hydrochemical type. The content of soluble iron and manganese in groundwater ranges from 0.004 mg/L to 0.7 mg/L, and from 0.0 mg/L to 1.147 mg/L, respectively. Deeper the groundwater occurs and longer the distance from the recharge zone, higher is the content of Fe2+ in groundwater due to gradual depletion of Oe in groundwater. The content of iron is higher than that WHO and EU recommended, which were 21% and 25% respectively, while the content of manganese were 17% and 23%, respectively. Abstraction of groundwater with high quantities by deeper wells would be accompanied by increase of dissolved iron and manganese content in groundwater which should be treated (with aeration) in order to decrease the content of these two elements in the water before using it.展开更多

China has the largest jellyfish fishery yield in the world with an annual harvest of around 300 thousand tons. Liaodong Bay is the most important jellyfish fishery ground in China. However, due to the high benefits of jellyfish fishery, which leads to illegal and out-of-season jellyfish fishing occurring each year in Liaodong Bay. Illegal jellyfish fishery in Liaodong Bay is a typical example of the tragedy of the commons. The key problem is that fishermen seek to an illegally initiate jellyfish fishing as early as possible. In this paper, basing on the data of edible jellyfish's biology and ecology, we mainly analyzed the history of jellyfish fishery in China, especially in Liaodong bay, and then we calculated the carry capacity of edible jellyfish in Liaodong Bay which is about 300 thousand tons one year. This number is equal to the recent annual yield of edible jellyfish in China. Furthermore, basing on the carry capacity and reasonable quotas price analysis, we set up a Jellyfish fishing quotas and deficit quotas buyback system which could be a suitable and effective solution for jellyfish fishery management and development in Liaodong Bay at the underlying roots. Although China is the first country with edible jellyfish aquaculture, the annual yield of jellyfish aquaculture is only one fifth of jellyfish fishing. So, there is a very bright developing prospect about edible jellyfish aquaculture in China.展开更多

This paper presents an evaluation index system for resources and environment carrying capacity based on four aspects of carrying capacity(i.e., water resources, land resources, the environment, and ecosystems) by using a square deviation decision-making method, and on the basis of above effort evaluates the resources and environment carrying capacity across 31 provincial regions in China(not including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions of China). In addition, this paper evaluates the current state of socio-economic development, and analyzes the spatial distribution of resources and environment pressure. The results showed that distinct spatial differences in resources and environment carrying capacity and pressure across provincial regions. Resources and environment pressure is affected by both comprehensive resources and environment carrying capacity and socio-economic development. Regions subjected to lower degrees of resources and environment pressure will be restricted by resources and environmental problems through future courses of development owing to excessively low carrying capacities. By contrast, regions with higher comprehensive resources and environment carrying capacity will be subjected to excessively high levels of resources and environment pressure because of rapid socio-economic development. Both of resources and environment carrying capacity and pressure must therefore be considered in the allocation of country-binding targets to provincial regions.展开更多

Results showed that montmorillonite clay minerals accounted for as much as 76% of mudstone, with a large number of pores existing in the microstructure. Besides, as the molecular structure of montmorillonite changed, mudstone microstructure damage occurred with the macroscopic manifestation of its theological instability. Weakening degree of confined water on residual strength of mudstone was almost 50%. The instability mechanism of soft rock roadway caused by high confined water is that surrounding rock circulates the process of "fracture-seepage-mud ding-closed" twice, which weakens its strength and leads to roadway instability. A combined support technology, namely the, "high-toughness sealing layer + hollow grouting cables + full-length anchoring bolts with deep borehole" was proposed. Based on field observation, the soft rock roadway was controlled effectively, which also verified the effectiveness of new control technology for surrounding rock.展开更多

The vertical concentration variation of these trace dements is reported. The relationship of the variation to the water-bearing capacity of the Ordovician strata is discussed. The minimum concentration of eleven (of 14 total) trace elements appears in the lower Majiagou formation. The maximum concentrations mainly appear in the Badou and Jiawang formations: eight maxima are located in Badou and four more are in Jiawang. The study of karst development and the water-bearing capacity of Ordovician strata shows that karst is well developed in the Majiagou formation and there is a consequent high water-bearing capacity in this formation: Badou and Jiawang formations are contrary to this situation. The results illustrate that the minimum concentrations of most trace elements within certain Ordovician formations can be taken as strong evidence for the existence of a well developed karst and a high water-bearing capacity.展开更多

Further- more, the influence of some parameters (e.g., advancing distance of working face, water pressure, initial fracture length and its angle) on confined water progressive intrusion height were analyzed. The results indicate that tension-shearing fracture of floor is extended more easily than compression-shearing frac- ture under the same conditions. When floor fracture dip angle is less than 90% tension-shearing extension occurs more easily on the left edge of the goaf. If fracture dip angle is larger than 90% it occurs more easily on the right edge of the goal. The longer the advancing distance of working face is, the greater initial frac- ture length goes; or the larger water pressure is, the greater possibility of tension-shearing extension occurs. The confined water progressive intrusion height reaches the maximum on the edge of the goaf. Field in situ test is consistent with the theoretical analysis result.展开更多

Based on the assumption of the plane section remaining plane in bending and simplified constitutive models of materials, the calculation methods of load carrying capacities for different critical stages are obtained. Then, these calculation methods are demonstrated by comparing the test results with the calculation results. Finally, based on the proposed theoretical formulae, the effects of the compression strength, compression strain and tension strength of ECC, and the reinforcement ratio on the flexural behaviors of double-reinforced ECC beams are analyzed. The calculated and measured results are in good agreement, which indicates that the theoretical model can be used to predict the momentcurvature response of steel reinforced ECC beams. And the results of parametric studies show that the increase in the compression strength of ECC can greatly improve the flexural performance of beams; the increase in the ultimate compression strain can significantly improve the ultimate curvature and ductility, but has little effect on the load bearing capacity of beams. little effect on the flexural The tensile strength of ECC has behaviors of ECC beams. The increase in the steel reinforcement ratio can lead to significant improvement of the load bearing capacity and the stiffness of beams, but a degradation of the ductility of beams. The theoretical model and parameter analysis results in this paper are instructive for the design of steel reinforced ECC beams.展开更多

In the present study, X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis, scanning electron microscope(SEM), and mercury intrusion porosimetry experiments were carried out to investigate the mineral compositions, microstructure and porosity characteristics of the 13 claybearing soft rock samples collected from a deep coal mine in China. Water vapor absorption and uniaxial compressive experiments were also performed to examine water absorption characteristics and waterinduced strength degradation effect of the investigated deep soft rock samples. The results show that the dominant mineral components in mudstone, coarse sandstone and fine sandstone samples were calcite, quartz and clay respectively. The contents of clay minerals in all samples were relatively high and ranged from 12.3%(N-4) to 56.5%(XS-1). Water vapor absorption processes of all the soft rock samples follow an exponential law which is very similar to the water vapor absorption behavior of conglomerate samples reported in our earlier study. Correlation analyses also suggested that there were good positive correlation relationships between water absorptivity and clay minerals for both mudstone and sandstone samples. Furthermore, it was found that vapor absorption was not correlated with the porosity for mudstone, however, positive correlation relationship was found between them for sandstone. Correlation analysis between UCS, modulus of elasticity and water content demonstrated that both of them tend to decrease with the increase of their water content due to water absorption.展开更多

Under natural conditions the groundwater has low TDS(less than 200 mg L-1) and low concentrations of trace elements(less than 100 μg L-1) with a deceasing tend in contents of the Lanthanides(rare earth elements, less than 1 μg L-1) towards higher atomic number. The groundwater ranges in p H from 3.33 to 7.0 with an average value of 5.12(even lower than that of local rainwater, 5.88). p H values in the groundwater are a bit higher in rainy seasons than those in dry seasons and do not show significant increasing or decreasing trend with time. The average p H value in groundwater in the confined aquifers is even a bit lower than that in the unconfined aquifer. Comprehensive analyses of the groundwater environment suggest that H+ in the groundwater may be derived from dissociation of H2CO3, release of the absorbed H3O+ in clay layers and the acidity of rainwater. The H2CO3 in the groundwater may be formed by dissolution of CO2(g). Minerals in the unconsolidated sediment are predominated by quartz with small amount of clay minerals. The sediments undergoing a long-term weathering contain low levels of soluble constitutes. Lack of alkaline substances in the groundwater system is also helpful in the accumulation of acidity of the groundwater.展开更多

According to the different hardening rules of soil or rock around the pile shaft, such as work-softening, ideal elasto-plastic and work-hardening, a universal tri-linear load transfer model is suggested for the development of side and tip resistance by various types of soil (rock) with the consideration of sediment at the bottom of the pile. Based on the model, a formula is derived for the relationship between the settlement and load on the pile top to determine the vertical bearing capacity, taking into account such factors as the characteristics of the stratum, the side resistance along the shaft, and tip resistance under the pile tip. A close agreement of the calculated results with the measured data from a field test pile lends confidence to the future application of the present approach in engineering practice.展开更多

In order to study the factors that affect the failure depth of coal seam floors such as mining depth, coal seam pitch, mining thickness, workface length and faults, we propose a combined artificial neural networks (ANN) prediction model for failure depth of coal seam floors on the basis of existing engineering data by using genetic algorithms to train the ANN. A practical engineering application at the Taoyuan Coal Mine indicates that this method can effectively determine the network struc- ture and training parameters, with the predicted results agreeing with practical measurements. Therefore, this method can be applied to relevant engineering projects with satisfactory results.展开更多

文摘In order to obtain the value of confined water progressive intrusion height of mining fracture floor, the analysis equation was deduced based on the fracture extension theory of the fracture mechanics. Field in situ test is consistent with the theoretical analysis result.

文摘The ecological footprint concept and its calculation models are useful for the measurement of the sustainable level of social and economic development. The ecological security situation of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area(TGRA) was evaluated using this concept in this study. The construction of the Three Gorges Reservoir has led to the change in the ecology and immigration status of TGRA.The ecological footprint method is an important means to study the regional ecological security. Our results suggested that,by excluding the areas for biodiversity conservation(12% of the total land),the ecological footprint per capita was 0.57895 ha,which exceeded the ecological carrying capacity in TGRA.The total ecological deficit was found to be 11,522,193.34 ha,accounting for 95.02% of the ecological carrying capacity. These findings suggested that the ecological security of TGRA was not good.In order to compensate for the ecological deficit,it was essential to introduce natural resources from other regions.

文摘In order to investigate the flexural behaviors of engineered cementitious composites (ECC), theoretical and experimental researches are done on flexural doublereinforced ECC beams. The theoretical model and parameter analysis results in this paper are instructive for the design of steel reinforced ECC beams.

文摘The geological and physico-mechanical properties characterization of deep soft rocks is one of the critical scientific issues for deep soft rock engineering. Correlation analysis between UCS, modulus of elasticity and water content demonstrated that both of them tend to decrease with the increase of their water content due to water absorption.

文摘Natural weak acidic groundwater occurs in the unconfined and confined aquifers consisting of Quaternary and Neogene unconsolidated sediments near Beihai in southern Guangxi, China. Lack of alkaline substances in the groundwater system is also helpful in the accumulation of acidity of the groundwater.
文摘The load transfer analytical method is applied to study the bearing mechanism of piles with vertical load in this paper. A close agreement of the calculated results with the measured data from a field test pile lends confidence to the future application of the present approach in engineering practice.

文摘Failure depth of coal seam floors is one of the important considerations that must be kept in mind when mining is carried out above a confined aquifer. Therefore, this method can be applied to relevant engineering projects with satisfactory results.
