In this competitive world to achieve competence, competitive advantages in order to better governance, organizations have to increase their competitive powers through promotion and productivity. One of the fundamental approaches to elevate the productivity level is finding the complications and obstacles, and arise planning to remove them. In order to understand organizational complication, we have tried to take critical factors of success and continue improvement into consideration to demonstrate a model to find the main and radical problems and complications and recognize the recoverable areas in the business agencies. In this study,an up-flow anaerobic sludge blanket(UASB) reactor was applied to treat the high salinity wastewater from heavy oil production process.At a HRT of ≥24 h,the COD removal reached as high as 65.08% at an in...In this study,an up-flow anaerobic sludge blanket(UASB) reactor was applied to treat the high salinity wastewater from heavy oil production process.At a HRT of ≥24 h,the COD removal reached as high as 65.08% at an influent COD ranging from 350mg/L to 640mg/L.An average of 74.33% oil reduction was also achieved in the UASB reactor at an initial oil concentration between 112mg/L and 205mg/L.These results indicated that this heavy oil production related wastewater could be degraded efficiently in the UASB reactor.Granular sludge was formed in this reactor.In addition,two models,built on the back propagation neural network(BPNN) theory and linear regression techniques were developed for the simulation of the UASB system performance in the oily wastewater biodegradation.The average error of COD and oil removal was-0.65% and 0.84%,respectively.The results indicated that the models built on the BPNN theory were wellfitted to the detected data,and were able to simulate and predict the removal of COD and oil by the UASB reactor.展开更多

The variations of nutricline and primary productivity(PP) have been recons...Coccolith assemblages in two gravity cores(KX21-2 and KX12-1) from the central Western Pacific Warm Pool(WPWP) have been analyzed with SYRACO. The variations of nutricline and primary productivity(PP) have been reconstructed based on these assemblages. The results show that the coccolith assemblages were dominated by Florisphaera profunda, Gephyrocapsa and Emiliania huxleyi over the last 380 kyr. Variations of nutricline and primary productivity can be divided into three intervals. Interval I(about 380–300 kyr): PP was high and nutricline was shallow; Interval II(about 300–160 kyr): PP decreased dramatically for a short time after the acme of G. caribbeanica in Mid-Brunhes while nutricline became deeper; Interval III(about 160 kyr–present): PP fluctuated at low levels and nutricline was deep. Variations of each coccolith taxon and PP were highly correlated in the two cores, which means that the geological environment is similar in the two cores. Spectrum analysis is performed for all coccolith taxons and PP, and the 19-kyr cycle is the most prominent. It means that the production of coccolithophores in the WPWP is mainly controlled by precession.展开更多

However, although potential evapotranspiration (ET) has shown a decreasing trend under climate change, actual ET has slightly increased with an acceleration in hydrological cycling. Global climate model (GCM) ensemble projections predict that by the 2050s, the increased crop water demand and intensified ET resulting from global warming will reduce water resources surplus (Precipitation-ET) about 4%-24% and increase significantly the irrigation water demand in crop growth periods. This study assesses possible mitigation and adaptation measures for enabling agricultural sustainability. It is revealed that reducing the sowing area of winter wheat (3.0%-15.9%) in water-limited basins, together with improvement in crop water-use efficiency would effectively mitigate water shortages and intensify the resilience of agricultural systems to climate change.展开更多

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is an important food staple in most of the tropical and sub tropical countries of the world. In Uganda, rice has grown to become an important food security crop and source of cash income for t...Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is an important food staple in most of the tropical and sub tropical countries of the world. In Uganda, rice has grown to become an important food security crop and source of cash income for the majority of the rural farming communities across the country. Despite its importance, rice production has consistently remained low averaging 1.5 t/ha under farm conditions. The low production of rice is attributed to a number of production constraints. Therefore the objective of the survey was to ascertain the major production constraints in rice growing in the two sub-counties of Orum and Ogor, Otuke district. A diagnostic survey using semi- structured questionnaires was conducted in the two sub counties between July and August 2010 to gather information on the major production constraints from key informants, opinion leaders, farmers, technical and political leaderships. The findings showed that diseases were the major constraints in rice production accounting to 27% compared to other constraints. The other constraints included insect pests (23%), weeds (21%), drought (20%) and low prices (9%). The major diseases encountered were rice blast (30%), brown spot (23%), rice yellow mottle virus (19%), sheath rot (15%) and grain rot (13%). Overall, diseases accounted for 79% of the yield reduction in rice. The implication of these findings therefore is that diseases and other constraints in rice production must be adequately identified for easy management to ensure sustainable rice production. More importantly, farmers should be sensitised on disease recognition, means of spread and control.展开更多
