The model was then calibrated and verified. Four scenarios (S1, S21, S22 andS23) were simulated using the model. Results show that the water quality of the Miyun Reservoirunder conditions of low surface water level is apparently affected by different amounts of inflowand different total phosphorus (TP) loadings. The chlorophyll-a concentration might exceed 10 μg/Lin many areas of the Miyun Reservoir (This limitative value is seen as a critical value ofeutrophication) when large loadings of TP enter due to the amount of inflow increasing. Results ofscenario S23 indicate that control of TP loadings can decrease chlorophyll-a concentrationeffectively, and the water quality of the Miyun Reservoir will improve or retain its status quo.展开更多

The mass transport equation is split into a convection equation and a dispersive equation. The generalized upwind scheme is used to solve the convection equation and the finite element method is used to compute the dispersive equation. These procedures which not only overcome the phenomenon of the negative concentration and numerical dispersion appear frequently with normal FEM or FDM to solve models of convection dominating groundwater transport but also avoid the step for computing each node velocity give a more suitable method to calculate the concentrations of the well points.展开更多

Indirect evaporative cooler is used for sensible cooling of air which then is used for air conditioning purposes. Mathematical model was developed allowing determining heat transfer surface, outlet air temperature and specific humidity of the air being cooled. To make the model simpler some simplifications have been incorporated. The model has high level of correctness and can be used to calculate and design different types of evaporative heat exchangers. Analysis of results of calculations by the help of the developed model prove that the surface of heat exchanger depends on the thickness of water film layer by the regularity of direct proportionality. Moreover, increasing of the water film thickness brings to the decreasing of the efficiency of evaporative type heat exchanger. The model can be used for correct calculation and design of an evaporative cooling air conditioning systems.展开更多
