Merr.]. The experiment was conducted at SODACO (South Davao Corporation) farm, Davao City, Philippines from March to October 2010. Five treatments with increasing K levels were applied per tree: control, no K, 150 g K basal, 225 g K basal and 225 g K basal + foliar application. Application of 225 g K rates positively influenced fruit quality of pummelo. Fruit pulp diameter and juice weight increased while peel thickness decreased. The 225 g K rates also increased juice pH, TA (titrable acidity) and TSS (total soluble solids) per tree. The yield of total phenol, flavonoid, vitamin C and oil per tree increased with 225 g K application. Results of the soil analysis before and after the conduct of the study showed an evidence of fertilizer absorption by the trees. It was also observed that foliar fertilization reduced soil acidity. This indicates the important role of K in improving the nutrient utilization and quality of 'Magallanes' pummelo.展开更多

The average annual rainfall is 1,430 mm and the total water resources are estimated at 215,000 Mm^3 (million of m^3)-year^-1. The hydric demand in the country is 70,000 Mm^3.year^-1, 6% of which is groundwater in origin. Over 70% of the water is used for agriculture. Thailand is the world's leading exporter of rice. The main problems faced by the Water Authority in Thailand are pollution, floods and droughts, depending on the geographical zone. From the hydrogeological point of view, the Central Plain is the main groundwater reservoir in the nation. Intensive extraction of groundwater over a long period of time has caused three main problems: a decline in groundwater levels, land subsidence, and seawater intrusion. These problems have been especially pressing in the area known as Greater Bangkok.展开更多

It is needed to look for alternative water sources and work towards achieving high level of sustainability. Measurements for gray water samples were carried out including pH, EC (electrical conductivity), TDS (total dissolved solids), TS (total solids), TSS (total suspended solids), DO (dissolved oxygen), BOD5 (biochemical oxygen demand), COD (chemical oxygen demand), alkalinity, chlorides (Cl), calcium (Ca), sodium (Na), magnesium (Mg), potassium (K), lead (Pb), TC (total coliforms), TF (total fecal coliforms), and nitrate (NO3). The goals of this study are to estimate quantities of fresh water consumption and gray water generated in typical Baghdadian households, and to investigate gray water quality (physical, chemical and biological). The major results can be summarized as follows: (1) The daily water consumption in Baghdad ranged from 75 Lpcd to 176 Lpcd with an average of 116 Lpcd; (2) the maximum daily consumption in Baghdad ranged from 124 Lpcd to 327 Lpcd with an average of 186 Lpcd; (3) the maximum hourly consumption in Baghdad ranged from 154 Lpcd to 900 Lpcd with an average of 308 Lpcd; (4) gray water generation in Baghdad ranged from 34 Lpcd to 139 Lpcd with an average of 68 Lpcd, and that gray water generated constituted 58% to 72% of total consumption.展开更多

This study involved four irrigation intervals (3, 4, 5 and 6 d) under drip irrigation system, with spraying by five antitranspirant substances (control, kaolin 5 g/L, MgCO3 3 g/L, liquid paraffin 2% and Nu-film 17 1%), which subjected in a factorial experiment within split plot system in a randomized complete block design with three replications. The results showed that increasing irrigation intervals from 3 d to 6 d decreased the total water content of the leaves from 83.59% to 81.81%, the rate of relative transpiration from 0.174% to 0.162%, stomata area from 1.620 lam2/stomata to 0.921 ~m2/stomata, plant yield from 542.22 g to 425.80 g, total yield of tubers from 25.808 tons/ha to 20.253 tons/ha and marketable yield of tubers from 24.471 tons/ha to 18.822 tons/ha, whereas caused an increase in the leaf water deficit from 19.19% to 23.86% and water use efficiency from 8.63 kg/m3 to 13.32 kg/m3. Spraying potato plants with liquid paraffin 2% led to the highest total water content 83.37%, stomata area 1.466 ~tm2/stomata, the lowest relative transpiration 0.152%, the lowest leaf water deficit 20.33%, the highest plant yield 509.22 g, total yield 24.236 tons/ha, marketable yield 22.770 tons/ha and water use efficiency I 1.83 kg/m3. On the other hand, the interaction treatments between irrigation intervals and antitranspirants resulted in a significant effect in many studied parameters.展开更多
文摘In this paper, a locking-free nonconforming rectangular finite element scheme is presented for the planar elasticity problem with pure displacement boundary condition. Meanwhile, we prove that this element is also convergent for stationary Stokes problem.
