This method is especially designed for mandarin speaker dependent small size word set recognition. It has less complexity, less resource consumption but higher ARR (accurate recognition rate) compared with traditional HMM or NN approach. A large scale test on the task of 11 mandarin digits recognition shows that the WER(word error rate) can reach 3 86%. This method is suitable for being embedded in PDA (personal digital assistant), mobile phone and so on to perform voice controlling like digits dialing, name dialing, calculating, voice commanding, etc.展开更多

Lexical tone as a complex signal contains acoustic components that carry linguistic, paralinguistic, and nonlinguistic information. To examine these two hypotheses, the current study adopted triplet stimuli including Chinese characters, their corresponding pinyin with a diacritic, and the four diacritics representing Chinese lexical tones. The stimuli represent the variation of lexical tone for its linguistic and acoustic features. The results of a listening task by Mandarin Chinese speakers with and without aphasia support the functional hypothesis that pitch patterns are lateralized to different hemispheres of the brain depending on their functions, with lexical tone to the left hemisphere as a function of linguistic features.展开更多

Idols and B-boys stages are fun, touching, and fantastic. Today, South Korean students are excited and enthusiastic about their colorful dance moves. The study is about creative educational methods that use K-pop music videos to learn the proverbs and old words that our ancestors learned to keep in mind and teach. K-pop lyrics are a rich reflection of the experiences of life and the world in which people are living today. Accordingly, this study can present new teaching and learning method examples that are used in class related to the old language associated with K-pop lyrics and can also introduce interesting class materials.展开更多
