重点探讨了水处理系统中纳米颗粒(NPs)污染物的分布和归趋特点,及其对系统中微生物菌群结构与功能、有机物与氮磷去除效率的影响.结果显示:反应器可拦截进水中90%以上NPs;NPs短期内对水处理系统有机物去除效率无明显抑制,当50 mg/L的纳... 重点探讨了水处理系统中纳米颗粒(NPs)污染物的分布和归趋特点,及其对系统中微生物菌群结构与功能、有机物与氮磷去除效率的影响.结果显示:反应器可拦截进水中90%以上NPs;NPs短期内对水处理系统有机物去除效率无明显抑制,当50 mg/L的纳米TiO2和ZnO作用70 d可使得污水总氮去除率从80.3%,81.5%降至24.4%和70.8%,纳米ZnO甚至可使除磷效率完全丧失.NPs还会造成反应器内硝化细菌浓度和比重的下降,如50 mg/L TiO2作用70d可使反应器内氨氧化菌和亚硝酸盐氧化菌含量分别由8%,6%降至1%和3%,但对聚磷菌种群的相关显著影响尚未发现.NPs的生物毒性作用机制主要包括氧化胁迫、细胞膜破坏与酶活性抑制等,如50 mg/L的纳米TiO2可分别对活性污泥中的氨单加氧酶和亚硝酸盐氧化还原酶活性产生80%和55%的抑制率. 展开更多

强化污水中磷的去除是污水厂提标升级必须解决的问题之一,而铁盐是协同除磷常用的药剂之一。从铁盐投加对污水生物处理系统处理效能、污泥性能和微生物的影响3个方面进行了论述,并对未来的研究方向进行了展望,为铁盐应用于污水协同除磷... 强化污水中磷的去除是污水厂提标升级必须解决的问题之一,而铁盐是协同除磷常用的药剂之一。从铁盐投加对污水生物处理系统处理效能、污泥性能和微生物的影响3个方面进行了论述,并对未来的研究方向进行了展望,为铁盐应用于污水协同除磷的研究及工程应用提供参考和借鉴。从经济和效能上考虑建议采用Fe SO4,按照摩尔比Fe:P=1.5~2.2进行投加,可以有效提高污水生物处理系统的总磷去除率(去除率>84%,出水TP<0.5 mg/L),有机物和氮的去除略有提高或者不受影响,活性污泥的污泥量增多,沉降性能提高,活性降低(铁盐投加>0.15 mmol/L),微生物总量和种群数量减少。未来需要对铁盐的常量投加(0.12~0.3 mmol/L)和微量投加(<0.02 mmol/L)对污水生物处理系统的污泥性质组成、碳氮磷代谢和微生物群落结构影响及协同除磷机理加强研究。 展开更多

Heavy metal pollution in aquatic system is becoming a serious problem worldwide. In this study, responses of Sargassum thunbergii to dif ferent concentrations(0, 0.1, 0.5, 1.0 and 5.0 mg/L) of zinc(Zn) and cadmium(Cd) exposure separately were studied for 15 days in laboratory-controlled conditions. The results show that the specifi c growth rates increased slightly under the lower Zn concentration treatment(0.1 mg/L) at the first 5 d and then decreased gradually, which were significantly reduced with the exposure time in higher Zn concentrations and all Cd treatments compared to respective control, especially for 1.0 and 5.0 mg/L Cd. Chlorophyll a contents showed significant increase in 0.1 mg/L Zn treatment, whereas the gradually reduction were observed in the other three Zn treatments and all Cd treatments. The oxygen evolution rate and respiration rate presented distinct behavior in the Zn-treated samples, but both declined steadily with the exposure time in Cd treatments. The P/R value analyses showed similar variation patterns as chlorophyll a contents. Real-time PCR showed that lower Zn concentration(0.1 mg/L) increased mRNA expression of rbcL gene, whereas higher Zn concentrations and Cd reduced the rbcL expression. Taken together, these findings strongly indicate that Zn and Cd had different effects on S. thunbergii both at the physiological and gene transcription levels, the transcript level of photosynthesis-related gene rbcL can be used as an useful molecular marker of algal growth and environment impacts. 展开更多

A series of orthogonal array experiments were conducted using carbon source, ammonia nitrogen and total phosphorus (TP) as major influencing factors to investigate the effects of nutrients on biofouling formation and preponderant bacteria diversity in the recirculatiug cooling water system. Carbon source was demonstrated to be the most significant determinant affecting the biofouling formation. A minimum biofouling outcome was obtained when BOD2, NHa+-N and TP were 25, 10, and 1 mg/L, respectively. Then the preponderant bacteria strains in biofouling mass under two typical culture conditions (negative and favorable) were identified applying both traditional biochemical methods and further molecular biology technology with phylogenetic affiliation analysis, which indicated that Enterobacteriaceae Enterobacter, Micrococcaceae Staphylococcus, Bacillaceae Bacillus, Enterobacteriaceae Proteus, Neisseriaceae Neisseria and Pseudomonadaceae Pseudomonas were dominant under negative condition, while Enterobacteriaceae Klebsiella, Enterobacteriaceae Enterobacter and Microbacterium - under favorable one. 展开更多

Microbial community study in a petrochemical industry wastewater treatment system by PCR-DGGE

To improve the efficiency of petrochemical wastewater purification, the relationship between bacterial community structure and pollutants loading/degrading rates in A/O process for petrochemical wastewater treatment was investigated by denaturing gradient gel eleetrophoresis (DGGE) of the 16S rRNA gene fragments amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Results show that while the influent COD and NH4^+ -N concentrations are 425.92 -560 mg/L and 64 - 100 mg/L respectively, the corresponding average concentrations of the effluent are 160 mg/L and 55 mg/L, which are 1. 6 and 3.6 times more than the national standards respectively. It demonstrates that the performance of pollutants removal process is inefficient. The analysis of PCR-DGGE profile indicates that the bacterial community structure of the activated sludge in A/O system is species-rich but unstable, and the highest and the lowest similarity coefficients are 36% and 6. 25% respectively, which shows that remarkable community structure evolution exists in the system. The variation of bacterial community structure and pollutants loading influences the removal efficiency of pollutants obviously, and relatively stable com- munity structure leads to the stable operational performance of biological wastewater treatment system. 展开更多

The Microbiologic Water Pollution on Marine Ecosystems Velipoja Beach, Albania

The origin of pollution may be industrial, radioactive, agricultural, urban mikobiologjike etc.. The study was conducted in the waters of the Adriatic sea ecosystem aims to analyze the microbiological contamination areas. These waters are used for holiday purposes by citizens. The samplings of marine water are taken from the stratum water surface about 10 cm, at a distance 10-20 m by sea coast. These samples are examined in laboratory for determination of two micro organisms, indicators excrements pollution Faecal Coliform (FC) (ISO 9803) and FC, probably Streptococcus Faecal (FS) with Filtrate Membrane Method's in specific areas (ISO 7899-2). In area Velipoja, Albania, the microbiologic elaborated analyses have resulted as follows: For FC and Streptococcus Faecal are given the minimal values FC-50, FS-50 and maximal values FC-90, FS-90 per 100 mL. About the evaluation of reaction (pH) is concluded that in Albania the sea waters coastal zones have a lightly alkaline ambient, where pH value is in the range 7.5-8.3, estimated according to recommended standards 6-9. Trace organic contaminants (TOCs) correspond to a broad range of molecules generated either directly or indirectly by human activity. Even though TOCs are found at low concentrations in the environment, they often accumulate by biomagnification and bioaccumulation into biological organisms and cause irreversible damages in biological systems through direct or indirect toxic effects such as endocrine disruption and tumour initiation. This manuscript presents the main findings of over fifteen years of research focusing on biological removal of various TOCs found in sewage sludge from urban treatment plants. A special focus of the research was made on microbial processes in complex anaerobic ecosystems. Four families of compounds mostly retrieved in urban plants were studied: the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), the polychlorobiphenyls (PCBs), the phthalic acid esters (PAEs), and the nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEs). It was observed that the microbial capability for removing low amounts of TOCs required a long adaptation time and was often limited by the bioavailability of these compounds. In fact, the overall biodegradation resulted from the numerous interactions existing between the matrix (organic matter) and the microbial ecosystems according to the physico-chemical sorption properties of these compounds. Mechanistic aspects were also tackled in depth and specific models were developed for better understanding the network of interactions between TOCs, microorganisms, and organic matter. These findings could be extrapolated to other ecosystems such as soils and sediments. Finally, it was shown that microbial cometabolism was essential for TOC removal, and the concept of bioavailability was not only dependent on the nature, the level, and the sorption properties of TOCs but was also strongly dependent on the nature and the concentration of the sludge organic matter. Specific parameters were proposed for better evaluating the fate of TOCs in microbial anaerobic processes and technological solutions for efficient removal of these compounds were also proposed. 展开更多

The tra- ditional methods for the oily wastewater treatment are inefficient and costly. Surfactants can promote the biodegradation of pe- troleum hydrocarbons by dispersing oil into aqueous environment. In the present study, we applied rhamnolipid-containing cell-free culture broth to enhance the biodegradation of crude oil and lubricating oil in a conventional aerobically-activated sludge system. At 20 ℃, rhamnolipids (11.2 mg/L) increased the removal efficiency of crude oil from 17.7% (in the absence of rham- nolipids) to 63%. At 25 ~C, the removal efficiency of crude oil was over 80% with the presence of rhamnolipids compared with 22.3% in the absence of rhamnolipids. Similarly, rhamnolipid treatment (22.5 mg/L) for 24 h at 20℃ significantly increased the removal rate of lubricating oil to 92% compared with 24% in the absence of rhamnolipids. The enhanced removal of hydrocarbons was mainly attributed to the improved solubility and the reduced interfacial tension by rhamnolipids. We conclude that a direct application of the crude rhamnolipid solution from cell culture is effective and economic in removing oily contaminants from wastewater. 展开更多
