The aim of this paper was preliminary design of the process for low-temperature coal tar hydrocrackmg m supercritical gasoline based on Aspen Plus with the concept of energy self-sustainability. In order to ensure the correct- ness and accuracy of the simulation, we did the following tasks: selecting reasonable model compounds for low-tem- perature coal tar; describing the nature of products gasoline and diesel accurately; and confirming the proper property study method for each block by means of experience and trial. The purpose of energy self-sustainability could be pos- sibly achieved, on one hand, by using hot stream to preheat cold stream and achieving temperature control of streams, and on the other hand, by utilizing gas (byproduct of the coal tar hydrocracking) combustion reaction to provide energy. Results showed that the whole process could provide a positive net power of about 609 kW-h for processing the low- temperature coal tar with a flowrate of 2 268 kg/h. The total heat recovery amounted to 2 229 kW-h, among which 845 kW'h was obtained from the gas combustion reaction, and 1 116 kW'h was provided by the reactor's outlet stream, with the rest furnished by hot streams of the products gasoline, diesel and residue. In addition, the process flow sheet could achieve products separation well, and specifically the purity of product gasoline and diesel reached 97.2% and 100%, respectively. 展开更多

Abstract A comprehensive three-dimensional model of droplet-gas flow was presented to study the evolution of spray in the effervescent atomization spray with an impinging plate. For gas phase, the N-S equation with the κ-ε turbulence model was solved, considering two-way coupling interaction between droplets and gas phase. Dispersed droplet phase is modeled as Lagrangian entities, accounting for the physics of droplet generation from primary and secondary breakup, droplet collision and coalescence, droplet momentum and heat transfer. The mean size and sta- tistical distribution of atomized droplets at various nozzle-to-plate distances were calculated. Some simulation resuits were compared well with experimental data. The results show that the existence of the impinging plate has a pronounced influence on the droplet mean size, size distribution and the droplet spatial distribution. The air-to-liquid ratio has obvious effects on the droplet size and distribution. 展开更多

The reactive adsorption desulfurization of model gasoline was carried out on Ni/ZnO-HY adsorbent.The Ni/ZnO-HY adsorbent was characterized by N2adsorption-desorption test(BET),X-ray diffractometry(XRD),and temperature-programmed reduction(TPR)analysis.The test results have demonstrated that HY-zeolite is a feasible support for Ni/ZnO components used in reactive adsorption desulfurization.The results of XRD and TPR analyses showed that most of nickel element was present as Ni2+species with only a small part existing as Ni3+species,and the Ni2+species had interactions with HY-zeolite.Under the conditions of this study,which specified a 50% ratio of HY-zeolite in the adsorbent,a Zn/Ni molar ratio of 10,and a reduction temperature of 400℃,the Ni/ZnO-HY adsorbent showed the best desulfurization performance.The sulfur capacity of Ni/ZnO-HY adsorbent could be recovered to 92.19% of the fresh one after being subjected to regeneration at 500℃,and could be maintained at 82.17% of the fresh one after 5 regeneration cycles. 展开更多

To study the transport process of isopropanol aqueous solution by pervaporation, the transport model of isopropanol and that of water at 323 K in polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) membrane were obtained in this paper. Theoretical predictions agreed well with the experimental results. The interactional parameter between water and PVA membrane is less than that between isopropanol and PVA membrane, which shows that water is preferentially dissolved in PVA membrane. The plasticizing coefficient and diffusion coefficient at infinite dilution of water are larger than those of isopropanol, which shows that the dissolution and permeation in PVA membrane of water are greater than those of isopropanol. Both the interactional parameter between water and isopropanol in the membrane and that in feed rise with the increase of isopropanol content in feed, which shows that the larger isopropanol content is, the higher selectivity of the membrane is and the more remarkable separation effect of pervaporation is. 展开更多

Electric vehicle is a kind of new energy vehicle which uses batteries as energy supply unit.A huge gap in charging infrastructures will be created by the expansion of electric vehicles.The effectiveness and rationality of charging facilities will directly affect the convenience and economy of the users,as well as the safe operation of the power grid.Three types of charging facilities:charging pile,charging station and battery swap station are introduced in this paper.According to the different methods of charging infrastructure planning,the research status of the method of determining charging demand points is expounded.And the spatial distribution of charging demand points extracted by the current site selection method has a certain deviation.Then the models and algorithms of charging infrastructure optimized layout are reviewed.Currently,many researches focus on three categories optimization objectives:benefit of power company side,investment cost of charging facility and user side cost,and the genetic algorithm and particle swarm optimization are the main solving algorithms.Finally,the relative methods and development trend of the charging infrastructures optimized layout are summarized,and some suggestions on the optimized layout of electric vehicle charging infrastructures are given forward. 展开更多

In this paper,we developed a hybrid model for the steam turbines of a utility system,which combines an improved neural network model with the thermodynamic model.Then,a nonlinear programming(NLP) model of the steam turbine network is formulated by utilizing the developed steam turbine models to minimize the total steam cost for the whole steam turbine network.Finally,this model is applied to optimize the steam turbine network of an ethylene plant.The obtained results demonstrate that this hybrid model can accurately estimate and evaluate the performance of steam turbines,and the significant cost savings can be made by optimizing the steam turbine network operation at no capital cost. 展开更多

Harmless treatment of CaS from coal gas desusulfurization and other industries is of very importance for the environmental protection. In this paper, the experimental investigation of calcium sulfide regeneration with steam at atmospheric pressure was carded out using TGA, fixed bed reactor and SEM-EDX analysis. The results show that the reaction mechanism of CaS with steam varies with temperature. The reaction occurs obviously at the temperature above 630℃ and the dominant products include CaSO4 (or CaSO3) and H2S, as the temperature is over 850℃, the primary products become CaO, SO2 and H2S. The CaS regeneration reaction will strongly depend on the temperature and the data over 900℃ can be fitted by the Shrinking-Core Model (SCM). 展开更多

Well-aligned open-ended multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) arrays were prepared via chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method in porous anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) templates without depositing any transition metals as catalyst. Effects of the CVD temperature and heat treatment were studied in detail. Well-aligned open-ended MWCNT arrays were obtained at the CVD temperature above 600℃; when CVD temperature is reduced to around 550℃, CNTs, CNFs and other structures existed at the same time; no CNTs or carbon nanofibres (CNFs) could be fouad as the CVD temperature is below 500℃, and only amorphous carbon in the porous AAO template was found. Experimental results showed that the AAO template is catalytic during the CVD process, and it has the following two effects: to catalyze thermal decomposition of acetylene and to catalyze conversion of carbon decomposed from acetylene into CNTs or CNFs. Heat treatment could improve the graphitization degree, but it might also introduce new defects. 展开更多

Based on a series of aqua-planet and air–sea coupled experiments,the influence of unrealistic treatment of water substance in the Flexible Global Ocean–Atmosphere–Land System Model,spectral version 2(FGOALS-s2),on the model's climate sensitivity is investigated in this paper.Because the model does not adopt an explicit microphysics scheme,the detrained water substance from the convection scheme is converted back to the humidity.This procedure could lead to an additional increase of water vapor in the atmosphere,which could strengthen the model's climate sensitivity.Further sensitivity experiments confirm this deduction.After removing the water vapor converted from the detrained water substance,the water vapor reduced significantly in the upper troposphere and the high clouds also reduced.Quantitative calculations show that the water vapor reduced almost 10% of the total water vapor,and 50% at 150 h Pa,when the detrained water substance was removed,contributing to the 30% atmospheric surface temperature increase.This study calls for an explicit microphysics scheme to be introduced into the model in order to handle the detrained water vapor and thus improve the model's simulation skill. 展开更多

The chemical equilibria involved in the methanol partial oxidation steam reforming reaction network such as methanol partial oxidation, methanol steam reforming, decomposition of methanol and water-gas shift reaction have been examined over the ranges of temperature 473-1073 K under normal pressure. Based on the detailed kinetics of these reactions over a Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 catalyst, and from the basic concept of the effectiveness factor, the intraparticle diffusion limitations were taken into account. Distillation column control is widely explored in literature due to its complexity and importance in chemical and petrochemical industries. In this process, pressure represents one of the most important variables to be controlled. However, there are few studies about how pressure affects the dynamic behavior of distillation columns and most research on distillation column control involve direct manipulation of cooling fluid through the condenser. Nevertheless, such an approach demands constant changes in cooling fluid flowrates that are commonly by the order of tons per hour, which can be difficult to work or even unfeasible in a real plant. Furthermore, this strategy is usually avoided, as it can cause fouling and corrosion acceleration. The hot-vapor bypass strategy fits well as a solution for these issues, eliminating the need to dynamically manipulate cooling fluid flowrates in the condensation unit. This work presents the modeling and simulation of a conventional distillation column for the separation of water and ethanol, in which a comparative study between a conventional pressure control and a control using hot-vapor bypass was performed. The main results were obtained through dynamic simulations which considered various disturbances in the feed stream, and demonstrated superior performance by the hot-vapor bypass system over the usual scheme proposed in literature, while evaluating the lntegral Absolute Error (IAE) norm as the control performance index. 展开更多

The welding fixtures are the most important devices for an auto body welding assembly line. The current special fixtures used by many automotive manufactures are only fit for one or several specific welding processes, and the dimensional problem in the circle due to several variation sources accumulation has no adjustment. The active error compensating welding fixture system for auto body is designed and manufactured. The detecting model, coordinate transformation model, and adjusting model based on auto body coordinate system are presented. The dowel pin modular design is adopted in the structure of the fixture to suit different workpieces with some similar characteristics. The online detection and adaptive control system using eddy current sensors and adaptive adjusting devices is analyzed. Three kinds of the left rear wheel covers SGM60 are selected to test workpieces of the developed system, and the active error compensating experiments are performed in the lab for many times. Test results show the validity of mechanism reconfigurations, on-line detections and error compensations of the developed welding fixture. 展开更多

Internal reformation of low steam methane fuel is important for the high efficiency and low cost operation of solid oxide fuel cell. Understanding and overcoming carbon deposition is crucial for the technology development. Here a multi-physics model is established for the relevant experimental cells. Balance of electrochemical potentials for the electrochemical reactions, generic rate expression for the methane steam reforming, dusty gas model in a form of Fick's model for anode gas transport are used in the model. Excellent agreement between the theoretical and experimental current-voltage relations is obtained, demonstrating the validity of the proposed theoretical model. The steam reaction order in low steam methane reforming reaction is found to be 1. Detailed information about the distributions of physical quantities is obtained by the numerical simulation. Carbon deposition is analyzed in detail and the mechanism for the coking inhibition by operating current is illustrated clearly. Two expressions of carbon activity are analyzed and found to be correct qualitatively, but not quantitatively. The role of anode diffusion layer on reducing the current threshold for carbon removal is also explained. It is noted that the current threshold reduction may be explained quantitatively with the carbon activity models that are only qualitatively correct. 展开更多

The effects of olefins were quantified by measuring the decreased amount of thiophenes removed by modified zeolites with an increasing olefin concentration in model fuels (300 ppm) via fixed-bed adsorption technique at room temperature and atmosphere pressure. The influence of olefins on adsorptive desulfurization of model fuel had been investigated by FT-IR techniques, which revealed that the protons in the zeolites were the sites responsible for the adsorption of olefins. On the CeY zeolite, in the presence of strong hydroxyl species in the zeolites, the adsorbed olefin compounds can attach to the protons molecularly via electrophilic interaction and undergo the opening of the C=C bonds depending on the acidity of the zeolites. The reduced desulfurization performance of CeY zeolite was attributed to the direct occupation of the absorbent's active sites by olefins. In contrast to the CeY zeolite, the NiY zeolites were unable to react directly with pure olefins. However the sulfur compounds and olefins adsorbed on the protons may subsequently undergo olefin alkylation reactions, which can block the zeolite pores and then prevent sulfide molecules from having access to super-cages to contact with the metal cations. This work demonstrates also that the NiY zeolites exhibit excellent performance for selective adsorption desulfurization of model fuel containing olefin compounds. 展开更多

With the development of automobile lightweight,it is very necessary to apply the ultra-high strength steel parts manufactured by hot stamping,which offers the possibility to reduce the weight of automobiles and maintain the safety requirement.In order to complete hot stamping,it is important to design the structure of parts reasonably,which is related with reasonable matching of strength.The objective of this paper is to guide the design of parts manufactured by hot stamping and find the forming technical requirements of vehicle performance.Through experiments,the paper obtains the stress and strain curves at different deformation temperatures and strain rates.Based on experimental data, the constitutive relationship model is established which can reflect the deformation capacity of ultra-high strength steel during the process of hot stamping.Combined with finite element simulation results of hot stamping by commercial software AUTOFORM,transfer path of load and matching law of strength,the paper determines the design criteria and forming technical requirements of parts manufactured by hot stamping.At the same time,the impact performance of front cross member internal plate is taken into consideration. 展开更多

End windings of generators are excited to vibrations due to electromagnetic forces which can cause severe damage and noise. To avoid this, it is important to predict the natural frequencies and modes of the end windings with finite elements. Due to the complex structure and unknown boundary conditions, the conventionally calculation of stator end windings has been very difficult and time consuming up to now. This paper describes the development of a full parameterized modeling tool, which allows a quick calculation of natural frequencies during the design phase of the generator. To keep the computing time low, it is important to find a way to get exact calculation results without detailed modeling of all pans. Additionally, special attention was paid to the active part, which has been replaced by spring-damper elements, and the determination of their stiffness via experimental modal analysis combined with finite element calculations. 展开更多
