The authors propose that changes in the atmospheric circulation patterns are important for deep Arctic tropospheric warming in winter. It is found that the retrograde Urals blocking (UB) event concurrent with a negative North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO-) that arises from a prior negative Arctic Oscillation (AO-) is not favorable for tropospheric warming because of less water vapor over the BKS. Such UB events are related to more winter BKS sea ice associated with the negative sea surface temperature (SST) anomaly in the BKS. In contrast, a UB occurring together with a positive North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO~) shows less movement and can significantly enhance tropospheric warming over the BKS through increasing tropospheric sensible heat energy due to a persistent BKS water vapor increase. This type of quasi-stationary UB event is related to prior less BKS sea ice associated with a positive BKS SST anomaly that coexists with the North Atlantic SST tripole structure. In summary, because warm, wet and low sea-ice winters in the BKS are related to UB events with an NAO~, and depend on the winter prior sea-ice condition, the tropospheric warming is to some extent a manifestation of the sea-ice-blocking-moisture feedback in the BKS.展开更多

So the section curve should be interpolated through the high accuracy method of circular arc interpolation before NC machining. In order to smooth the connection of adjacent arcs and shorten the NC machining program, an interpolation method based on Chebyshev theory of function approximation is proposed here. According to the analysis of the interpolation error, the algorithm is simple and with high precision. By this way the fewest interpolating circular arc segments can be got, and the manufacture requirement is satisfied with the circular arc interpolating curves.展开更多

In this work, the structure and working principle of EGS were introduced, based on which the advantages of EGS were displayed. The profile of sphere cam was achieved after the desired motion of piston was given. After establishing the dynamic model of power transmission mechanism, the characteristics of cam-roller mechanism were studied. The results show that the optimal cam profile of SCE is a sinusoid curve which has two peaks and two valleys and a mean pressure angle of 47.19°. Because of the special cam shape, the trace of end surface center of piston is an eight-shape curve on a specific sphere surface. SCE running at speed of 3000 r/min can generate the power of 33.81 kW, which could satisfy the need of HEVs. However, the force between cylinder and piston skirt caused by Coriolis acceleration can reach up to 1182 N, which leads to serious wear between cylinder liner and piston skirt and may shorten the lifespan of SCE.展开更多

The location of the bus stop in the on/off-ramp (thereafter downstream or upstream case) is discussed. The simulation results show that in the two ramp systems, the reasons for traffic congestions are different. In the on-ramp system, buses and cars coming from on-ramp interweave each other, while in the off-ramp system, buses interweave with cars exiting to off-ramp. Thus, in the on-ramp (off-ramp) system, the upstream (downstream) bus stop is helpful to reduce the interweaving situation. Moreover, the negative effect will disappear when the distance between the bus stop and the on/off-ramp is more than 20 cells (i.e. 150 m). These qualitative findings may provide some suggestions on traffic management and optimization.展开更多
