During battery’s working, the voltage, capacity, temperature and internal resistance were recorded, corresponding curves were depicted. Variations of the aforementioned four parameters are differently obvious. Ending criteria of charge and discharge of Ni/MH batteries are discussed on the basis of the curves. Voltage, capacity and temperature of a battery can be used as ending criteria during charge. When discharge takes place, voltage, capacity and internal resistance can be chosen as ending criteria. As a whole, capacity is more suitable for being used as ending criteria of charge and discharge than the other three parameters. At last, the capacity of a battery is recommended to be ending criteria of charge and discharge. The conclusions will provide references to different capacity Ni/MH batteries for electric vehicles.展开更多

Based on the analyzed results of charging characteristic of lead acid battery, a pulse quick charger is designed to adjust the charging current pulse’s amplitude and pulse width automatically stage by stage according to the measured battery voltage and feedback current. Compared with other kinds of quick chargers, it has such characteristics as shorter charging time, higher charging efficiency and lower temperature increasing during the charging process. As a result, the battery polarization is reduced efficiently.展开更多

The charging station has been operated continuously and routinely used by several EV users for a year. The actual operation shows that, a workplace charging station equipped with a buffer battery and with intelligent energy management can lower and reduce the station's peak power demand, and reduce the energy exchange with the utility grid by a factor of 2. The battery recharging power demand was shifted away from the on-peak time periods to the off-peak time periods, which will benefit the charging station owner from less energy use during peak periods when time-of-use rates are higher. The standard cell voltage deviation of the 220 cells was calculated to analyse the battery cell consistency during the resting, charging and discharging periods. The analysis shows that, the 220 50Ah cells show excellent voltage consistency with voltage deviation of less than 0.005 V within the battery SOC of 20%-80%. The voltage deviation doubles when the battery SOC reaches 90%. The comparison of cell voltage deviation at the beginning and after one year operation indicates that, the battery shows perfect cell voltage consistency and there is no obvious consistency deterioration during the battery resting, charging and discharging periods.展开更多
