N. cucumeris was released after application of pesticides for seven days (for 0,3% azadirachtin EC) or six days (for other pesticides). The results showed that the combined action of 1.8% abamectin EW (1:8 000) and N. cucumeris had the best control efficacy of 96.63% at 20 days after N. cucumeris releasing. The control efficacies of N. cucumeds and 0.3% azadirachtin EC (1:250) were 59.7% and 90.1% after one day and 20 days, respectively, after N. cucumeris releasing. The control efficacy of N. cucumeris and 0.5% matrine AS (1:2 000) was 82.65% at 20 days after N. cucumeris releasing. The results provide options for sustainable control of T. cinnabarinus and for the delay of pesticides resistance.展开更多

Pumpkin was used to inhibit the toxic effects of this drug. Mothers, directly after delivery from the first day to the weaning age at the 21 day were divided into four groups: the first group (control), the second group supplied with (1 mg haloperidol /kg/B.W./day), the third group was supplied with (1 ml pumpkin extraction/kg/B.W./day), the fourth group was supplied with (1 ml pumpkin/Kg/B.W.). The histological examination of the haloperidol treated mothers revealed its bad condition in compare with the other groups where there was absence of natural architecture of the liver and complete disintegration of the renal tubules. Also, the same symptoms were recorded in the liver and kidney of the infants. An obvious improvement in the structures of liver and kidney in mothers and infants as well as the recovery of most tissues to their normal appearance after the treatment with the mixture of haloperidol and pumpkin in compare with the haloperidol-group and pumpkin-group also showed a normal structure as the control-group.展开更多

Isolation trails from infected cucumber roots revealed that Thielaviopsis basicola and Fusarium moniliforme were the main cucumber root rot pathogens. The isolation trials from the rhizosphere of healthy cucumber plants revealed that two fungal isolates and four bacterial isolates had antagonistic effects against cucumber root rot fungi. All the tested biocontrol agents reduced the radial growth of all the tested root rots fungi in dual cultures. However, all culture filtrates of the tested biocontrol agent significantly reduced radial growth of all the tested pathogenic fungi, except that T. harzianum. Under field conditions, soil treatment with any of T. harzianum and B. subtilis BI and BF, significantly reduced percentages of infected plants and significantly increased percentages of survived plants and fruit yield compared with the control. Application of the commercial product Harpin protein (Messenger)~ product, as a resistance inducer at 0.3, 0.5 and l g/L significantly reduced the percentage of infected plants under greenhouse and field conditions. Field experiments indicated that the average percentage of infected plants after 90 days significantly decreased. The percentage of the survived plants as well as fruit yield increased by using integrated disease management (IDM) package, including the most effective treatments: tolerant cultivar, Trichoderma harzianum granules formula as soil treatment, Purging cassia plant extract, Harpin protein, and a half dose of Vitavax/thiram comparing with the treatment recommended by the Ministry of Agricultural or applied treatments individually.展开更多

Work done on aqueous extract of the unripe C. papaya in an acute oral toxicity study in rats showed the LD50 to be 2,520 mg/kg in rats. Current study evaluated the bilirubin-lowering potential of ACP extract in phenylhydrazine (40 mg/kg) induced jaundice in adult rats. Method: Jaundice was assessed by measuring the levels of TB (total bilirubin) and DB (direct bilirubin) in phenylhydrazine-treated animals with or without drug treatment, with CUR (curative), PRO (prophylactic study), and in animals with RLC (reduced liver capacity). Results: Result demonstrated that TB level of 24.0 μmols/L, 22.0 μmols/L and 45.0 μmols/L in the jaundiced group of the CUR, PRO and RLC respectively was significantly lowered (p 〈 0.05) to 10.0, 13.0, and 17.0 respectively by 400 mg/kg of the extract. Total bilirubin level of 24.0 btmols/L, 22.0 lamols/L and 45.0 μmols/L in the jaundiced group of the CUR, PRO and RLC respectively was significantly lowered (p 〈 0.05) to 7.0, 10.0, and 17.0 respectively by 800 mg/kg extract. Conclusion: The study concluded that ACP fruit extract has ability to lower elevated bilirubin level and confer hepatoprotective effect as seen from the liver function test indices thus justifying its ethnomedicinal use.展开更多
